🤖 Hub AI pick: Cole Palmer - 6.9 predicted points

Fixture: Hull (H)

Hub AI makes Palmer the standout captain this week, with Chelsea projected to score 2.70 goals against a Hull side given just a 6% clean-sheet probability.

The fixture is excellent, although Palmer’s underlying numbers suggest this isn’t quite as straightforward as simply captaining Chelsea’s biggest name.

He has registered 12 shots and nine attempts from inside the box across the opening three matches, but those chances have generated only 1.06 xG (expected goals). By comparison, Joao Pedro has already accumulated 1.86 xG.

Palmer’s advantage however is the number of different ways he can score FPL points. He remains on penalties, gets five points for a goal as a midfielder, a point for a clean sheet, and carries strong creativity and bonus potential.

Set-pieces are less of a differentiator than they have been previously. Palmer has taken only one corner so far, with Chelsea spreading those responsibilities around, so penalties are the meaningful dead-ball advantage.

There is also an interesting positional wrinkle.

Hull have conceded most frequently through their right and central zones. Palmer will naturally appear centrally, so the matchup still suits him, but there are arguably two Chelsea team-mates whose roles align even more directly with those weaknesses.

That makes Palmer my preferred captain, but perhaps not by as much as the headline projection suggests.

2️⃣ Main alternative: Joao Pedro - 5.9 predicted points

Fixture: Hull (H)

If we strip penalties out of the equation and look purely at open-play goal threat, I actually prefer Pedro to Palmer.

He has recorded 10 shots, eight from inside the box and three big chances, generating a team-leading 1.86 xG (expected goals). That is considerably ahead of Palmer despite taking two fewer shots.

The match-up strengthens his case too.
