<h2>Champions League Fantasy round of 16: First leg team review</h2>
I finished the first leg of the round of 16 on 93 points, which was good enough for a green arrow, rising to 1.6k overall.
This could have been even better if it wasn’t for a half-time substitution for Joao Cancelo (€6.6m) and a 59th minute substitution for Federico Dimarco (€4.6m).
Bayern Munich and Napoli ended up holding on for clean sheets, so those points are tough to take, and if you can&#8217;t tell, I am still bitter about it.
From a defensive standpoint my team performed well &#8211; except the aforementioned Dimarco &#8211; who ended on zero points and couldn’t be subbed since Inter Milan played on the final day.
I had clean sheets from my goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos (€6.7m) and three defenders, Raphael Guerreiro (€4.7m), Alejandro Grimaldo (€5.3m) and Giovanni Di Lorenzo (€5.1m) who also chipped in with a goal.
In midfield, two players had a major influence on my green arrow.
Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior (€10.0m) finished on 17 points, with two goals, an assist, and the Player of the Match award. He also collected a yellow card for good measure.
Benfica’s Joao Mario (€6.3m) finished with a goal and clean sheet for a total of eight points.
I held true to myself and followed an unpopular strategy, holding the captaincy on Mario with only one return.
I had the chance to switch three times but in the end it worked out as he finished on a 16 pointer while my other captaincy options would have not achieved a higher score.
Nothing comes without some luck. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (€5.9m), who was a captaincy option for many, missed a penalty but did get an assist to finish on four points.
In my forward line, two of three returned but surprisingly it was Erling Haaland (€11.0m) who blanked away to Leipzig.
Karim Benzema (€10.7m) reminded everyone why he is the Ballon d’Or holder, scoring two goals and providing an assist to finish on 13 points.
Napoli’s Victor Osimhen (€7.9m) also contributed, with a goal and penalty won for a total of 8 points.

<h2>Champions League Fantasy round of 16 second leg: Team reveal</h2>
Heading into the second leg of the round of 16, I am fairly happy with my team.
An important thing for managers to remember when it comes to transfers is that they cannot be carried over into the quarter-finals.
This means managers will have three transfers to either use or lose, which opens up the opportunity to optimise teams.
Looking at the fixtures and which teams look poised to move on is also important to maximise the players available in the quarter-finals.

Looking at my team, unless there are any last-minute injury problems, I will not be making any changes to my goalkeepers or forwards.
This opens up the opportunity to improve my defenders and midfielders.
Unfortunately, it looks like I’ve gone with the wrong Inter Milan defender.
Dimarco got subbed off early in the first leg and didn’t start Inter&#8217;s league game this weekend.
I am looking at a sideways move to another Inter Milan defender, Alessandro Bastoni (€4.6m).
Inter are up 1-0 heading into the second leg and have a good chance to progress, so this is also a move for the future.
I am happy with the rest of my team but since I will have two transfers left and am unable to carry them over, optimising my assets is important.
Both my Bayern Munich players appear to be minutes risks.
Cancelo finds himself on the outside looking in at Bayern. He’s been on the bench the previous few matches, so transferring him out limits the risk of him not starting.
One of Bayern’s wing-backs, Benjamin Pavard (€5.2m), picked up a red card in the first leg, which increases Cancelo’s chance to start &#8211; but at his price, there are more nailed defenders with high upside.
Replacements I am currently contemplating are Chelsea’s Reece James (€6.2m) if he starts, AC Milan’s Theo Hernandez (€5.9m) or doubling up on Napoi’s defence with Kim Min-jae (€4.5m).
Cancelo’s teammate Leroy Sane (€9.3m) finds himself in a similar position on the bench recently.
He is recovering from a knock, so he does have an outside chance to start, but with one more transfer to burn, I think I need to maximise potential.
A sideways move that is asking to blow up in my face is transferring in his teammate Kingsley Coman (€8.0m), who currently finds himself in a great run of form.
Playing Pep roulette is another option, as I think both Riyad Mahrez (€9.8m) and Kevin De Bruyne (€10.5m) are great options.
They do play a week from the deadline, so there is injury risk along with benching risk, but the upside is high if either start.
