Gameweek 5 is over and Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers are already busy making transfers during the international break &#8211; but who were the biggest under-performers of the week and who scored more points than they should have?
Every season, we see the biggest haulers of the previous gameweek brought into hundreds of thousands of teams.
But the secret to success in FPL is to jump on players who are about to score more points &#8211; not chasing points.
So with this in mind, we&#8217;re taking a look at the expected points for FPL Gameweek 5 and highlighting those who were fortunate to score well &#8211; and who perhaps could have netted a haul themselves.
We&#8217;ll also examine an early list of the most popular transfers in and out. Are the early bandwagons worth jumping on &#8211; and are some players being moved on in disgust too early?

<h2>Biggest FPL over-performers of the week</h2>
Hauls were few and far between in Gameweek 5. Bernardo Silva (£6.4m) top scored with 13 points, the lowest gameweek-leading score of the season so far.
That meant no one over-performed their expected points by more than seven.
Leandro Trossard (£6.6m) topped the pile, with his winner for Arsenal against Everton coming against an xG of 0.19 &#8211; it was a fine finish from a difficult opportunity for the Belgian that did not count as a big chance.
Silva&#8217;s 13 points came courtesy of a goal and an assist.
His goal was against an overall expected goals (xG) tally of 0.5, helping to explain his second place in the over-performance table.
The appearance of goalkeepers Robert Sanchez (£4.5m) and Neto (£4.5m) on the list suggests the 0-0 draw between Chelsea and Bournemouth was an unexpected goalless draw. Both teams had an xG of more than one.

<h2>Biggest under-performers of the week</h2>
Erling Haaland (£14.1m) was the clear under-performer of the week, scoring just one goal despite racking up an xG of 2.69.
The Norwegian had six big chances against West Ham, and while he had been over-performing his xG to date, his return of seven goals is now almost identical to his 7.03 xG.
Rodri (£5.7m) created two big chances in the match, however neither were converted, while defender Ruben Dias (£5.5m) missed a big chance himself to round off a trio of City disappointments.
Further down the over-performance list is Marcus Rashford (£8.9m), who had six shots in the box against Brighton but no attacking returns.

<h2>FPL transfers in and out</h2>
There has been plenty of early transfer activity, despite the start of European games for many clubs, which could put a spanner in the works of many an FPL team.

Julian Alvarez (£6.8m) is by far and away the biggest bandwagon ahead of Gameweek 6, having been brought into more than 400,000 teams.
He managed two assists in Gameweek 5, bettering his 0.53 expected assists (xA).
The Manchester City forward is second in the league for over-performance of his expected points over the first five weeks of the season, with his actual points total 12.2 points better.
His expected goals (xG) of 1.9 is comparable to his actual output of two, however his five assists eclipses his 1.24 xA.
A long injury layoff for Kevin De Bruyne and the departure of Ilkay Gundogan has given Alvarez a run in the team &#8211; and Pep Guardiola last week described him as &#8216;almost undroppable&#8217;.

Despite the over-performance, having a £6.8m attacking player in a high-scoring team like City is a hugely tempting proposition and makes the bandwagon understandable.
This is particularly so when Nicolas Jackson (£7.0m) continues to struggle to convert his big chances.
Would-be Alvarez buyers would be wise to wait until after City&#8217;s Champions League game before doing so.
Price changes could be a factor later in the week for those looking to swap Jackson for Alvarez, although there is currently a £0.2m difference between the two.
Jackson dropped in price overnight, so sellers should have more time before he approaches another drop.

The Chelsea forward is the most transferred-out player this week, with the switch to Alvarez an attractive prospect for many managers.

Rashford has been shipped out of more than 100,000 teams this week, with owners frustrated by another poor United performance.
The United midfielder had returned in his previous two games however, and both him and Bruno Fernandes (£8.4m) continue to be favoured by Hub AI.
They make the grade in the latest AI Wildcard side, which takes a five-gameweek projection of predicted points into account.
Chelsea players are not currently in the AI&#8217;s thinking though, suggesting those who are losing the likes of Jackson and Ben Chilwell (£5.8m) are fully justified in their decision.
Solly March (£6.6m) has been taken out of 118,000 teams after missing Gameweek 5 with a muscle injury.
But positive pre-match press conference news could make sellers regret their decision, with Bournemouth up next &#8211; and those holding him should wait until later in the week before making a move.
