Injury issues and penalty duties were among the key talking points from FPL Gameweek 2.
Here, we detail some of the highlights of the gameweek which concluded with Crystal Palace v Arsenal yesterday (Monday, August 21).

<h2>FPL Gameweek 2 captaincy: Haaland v Salah</h2>
Erling Haaland (£14.0m) was the most captained player once again, with 69.9% of the game&#8217;s top 250,000 managers backing him.
But a significant chunk went for Mohamed Salah (£12.5m) instead, with 17.1% turning to the Egyptian for his prime home game against Bournemouth.
And Salah captainers came out on top, although their man only managed five FPL points to Haaland&#8217;s two.
Salah underperformed his expected points of 12.12, having three big chances and missing a penalty. He did score the rebound from his spot-kick however.

<h2>FPL Gameweek 2: Penalty taking uncertainties</h2>
Salah&#8217;s grip on penalties potentially loosened following his miss against Bournemouth on Saturday.
He has failed to convert three of his last five spot-kicks in the league.
Alexis Mac Allister (£6.0m) scored eight out of nine from 12 yards while at Brighton and could be an alternative. He may have to wait for a chance though, having been red carded against Bournemouth. He is set to miss three games.
Dominik Szoboszlai (£7.0m) is another candidate. He has a career record of 15 penalty goals, with one miss.
Whether Jurgen Klopp strips Salah of penalties remains to be seen though.

Enzo Fernandez (£5.0m) stepped up for Chelsea against West Ham but saw his effort saved by Alphonse Areola (£4.0m).
The Chelsea penalty taker has been subject to speculation, particularly since the injury to Christopher Nkunku (£7.5m).
Reece James (£5.5m) was tipped for the responsibility but is out with injury.
Pochettino, like Klopp, now has to decide whether to give his number-one taker another chance.
Bukayo Saka (£8.6m) was Arsenal&#8217;s chief penalty taker last season but given he missed one in pre-season, there was some uncertainty over his status going into the new campaign.
When the Gunners were awarded a penalty against Palace, up stepped Martin Odegaard (£8.5m) instead.
Speaking after the match, Arteta hinted it wasn&#8217;t planned:
<blockquote>&#8220;I had no clue. It&#8217;s about leadership of players and if they felt it was the right thing to do, for me I&#8217;m fine. They have to make those decisions on the pitch. I was surprised like everybody else but he scored the goal which is the important thing.&#8221;</blockquote>
<h3>Penalty successes</h3>
Douglas Luiz (£5.5m) scored a penalty in Aston Villa&#8217;s 4-0 defeat of Everton.
Forward Ollie Watkins (£8.0m) was brought down in the area, however was not trusted to take the kick himself.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, John McGinn (£5.5m) indicated future penalty duties would be between him and Luiz. He said:
<blockquote>&#8220;I wanted to hit it as well. Ollie missed in pre-season and since then the manager&#8217;s been keen to practice myself and Douglas, we practice a lot.
&#8220;Douglas felt confident to hit it and I was happy to let him.&#8221;</blockquote>
There&#8217;s no doubts at Brentford, meanwhile. Bryan Mbuemo (£6.6m) scored his second penalty in two weeks on his way to a leading 16 points in Gameweek 2.

<h2>FPL Gameweek 2 injuries: Maddison leaves stadium on crutches</h2>
James Maddison (£7.6m) completed Tottenham Hotspur&#8217;s match against Manchester United on Saturday, despite a heavy tackle in the second half.
But he was spotted leaving the stadium on crutches and in a protective boot. He reportedly told journalists it was <a href="https://twitter.com/AlasdairGold/status/1692996749864943976">&#8216;precautionary&#8217;</a>, however FPL managers face a nervous wait ahead of Ange Postecoglu&#8217;s next press conference.
He was set for a scan yesterday.
Trent Alexander-Arnold (£8.0m) picked up an ankle knock in the latter stages of Liverpool&#8217;s win over Bournemouth.
Klopp hopes he will be &#8216;fine&#8217;. He said:
<blockquote>&#8220;He told me now he got a kick and it was pretty painful, but as far as he felt it didn&#8217;t twist or whatever, it was a kick and that&#8217;s why we changed then. But I hope he will be fine.&#8221;</blockquote>

John Stones (£5.4m) has been confirmed to be out until after the international break with a muscle problem. Kevin De Bruyne (£10.3m) faces an even longer time on the sidelines.
Speaking after Manchester City&#8217;s 1-0 win over Newcastle, Pep Guardiola said:
<blockquote>&#8220;We have to come back, you know how the people come back, John will be after the international break when he will be ready and Kevin is four or five months.&#8221;</blockquote>
Chelsea&#8217;s Carney Chukwuemeka (£4.5m) scored against West Ham but came off at the end of the first half. He went down holding his knee. Pochettino said:
<blockquote>&#8220;Carney, we need to assess him. We will see tomorrow [Monday].&#8221;</blockquote>
Injuries are also a concern for Everton boss Sean Dyche.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin collided with Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez (£5.0m), suffering a potential fractured cheekbone.
Dyche said there was no concussion, however he was suffering from blurred vision on one side.
Alex Iwobi (£5.5m) also came off with a knock.

It was a case of what could have been for owners of Bruno Fernandes (£8.5m), who failed to register a return in FPL. This was despite missing a big chance and creating two for his teammates.
Salah topped the list for expected points, while Solly March (£6.6m) and Phil Foden (£7.5m) also impressed.
