The Premier League transfer window opened last month and there&#8217;s already been plenty of signings, with the World Cup failing to put a pause on many clubs&#8217; plans.

<h3>Chelsea add experience with Welbeck, Lacroix and Henderson deals</h3>
Chelsea opted for youth over experience in previous windows, continuing this summer by buying Rogers, Marco Palestra and Geovany Quenda.
But their latest business has flipped that on its head, with deals agreed for Danny Welbeck and Jordan Henderson, aged 35 and 36 respectively.
Both signings are yet to be formally announced but are at an advanced stage.
Henderson is of limited FPL interest but Welbeck looked to be a potential pick for Brighton among the £6.0m options.
But his minutes look shakier at his new club, where he will reunite with former Seagulls striker Joao Pedro.
Pedro&#8217;s appeal could also take a dent if Welbeck steals gametime off him, making this transfer less than ideal from an FPL perspective.

Meanwhile, 26-year-old Lacroix&#8217;s transfer from Crystal Palace was confirmed earlier this week.
While he might not be in the same age range as Welbeck and Henderson, the centre-back will still bring plenty of know-how to the Blues&#8217; backline.
The Frenchman performed well last season, scoring one, assisting two and earning the third most defensive contribution points (44) among all defenders.

The drawback is his price. At £6.0m, he is more expensive than last season and £1.0m more than likely centre-back partner Levi Colwill.
Palestra could also offer value at £5.5m should Xabi Alonso opt for a back three, something he has not tried in <a href="https://www.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/fpl-pre-season-results-guide">pre-season</a> yet.
Time will tell whether Lacroix continues to hoover up defensive contribution points and if that makes him worth the extra cash.
For now, FPL managers are probably wise to look elsewhere in Gameweek 1.

<h3>New number ones for Ipswich and Coventry?</h3>
Promoted clubs have been active in the transfer market, with new goalkeepers for Ipswich and Coventry among the key deals.
Ipswich bought Kayne van Oevelen from the Netherlands&#8217; Volendam but it looks like Kjell Scherpen will be the number one.
Both are priced at £4.5m, £0.5m higher than popular budget keeper Martin Dubravka was last season.
There&#8217;s unlikely to be a £4.0m option at Coventry either, with their long pursuit to re-sign Carl Rushworth drawing to a successful conclusion.
Rushworth was among the Sky Blues&#8217; players in the Championship Team of the Season, leading the way for goals prevented (6.7).
Oliver Dovin had made it into more than 3% of FPL teams, with managers hopeful he&#8217;d be a £4.0m playing option.
His days in squads are numbered once the Rushworth deal is completed soon.

<h3>Garnacho joins Villa</h3>
Garnacho left Manchester United for Chelsea last summer &#8211; and he&#8217;s already on the move again.
Soon after confirming Rogers had joined Chelsea, Villa announced the loan signing of the Argentine winger.
He struggled to establish himself at Stamford Bridge, making 24 league appearances and scoring a single league goal alongside four assists.
Unai Emery will be looking to return the midfield prospect to his form of 2024/25, when he scored six and assisted four for the Red Devils.
For FPL managers, it&#8217;s a case of wait and see before committing.

<h3>Forest begin post-Anderson rebuild</h3>
Replacing Elliot Anderson will be a tall order for Forest after his excellent season.
He scored four, assisted five and rewarded his FPL fans with a bumper 52 defensive contribution points.
Oliver Glasner could pair existing midfielders Ibrahim Sangare and Nicolas Dominguez in the middle of the pitch but he also has free transfer Xaver Schlager to consider.
The 28-year-old scored three and contributed an assist in 26 Bundesliga appearances last season.
He averaged 9.75 defensive contributions per 90 minutes, a little short of Anderson&#8217;s 12.77, but if he becomes a starter and picks up regular points from this metric, he could become a value pick at £5.0m.

<h3>Defensive contributions magnet to join Brentford?</h3>
Mamadou Sangare&#8217;s impending transfer to Brentford has received the &#8216;here we go&#8217; treatment from transfer influencer Fabrizio Romano.
The 24-year-old midfielder from Lens is notable for his defensive contributions potential.
Averaging just over 14 defensive contributions per 90 minutes, he could regularly earn two extra points per game if he replicates this in the Premier League.
Doing so is not a given, with different teams playing with different style, while he still needs to establish himself as a first-team regular.
But depending on his pricing, he could be a very interesting option.

<h3>Top transfer rumours: Barcola to Liverpool? Vinicius Junior to Arsenal talk dies down</h3>
The football world was lit up last week with reports Arsenal were interested in Vinicius Junior &#8211; from none other than top-tier transfer news source David Ornstein.
Such a move would surely shake up the FPL premium picture, with the Real Madrid star becoming one of the most expensive players in the game.

Another big-money move is gathering momentum though, with talk of Liverpool making a move for Paris Saint-Germain&#8217;s Bradley Barcola.
It would be another £100m-plus transfer for Liverpool, who signed Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak for nine-figure sums last season.
Barcola scored 13 and assisted seven in 49 appearances for the French club in 2025/26 and is seen as one of the rising stars of world football.
The 23-year-old may not demand an FPL price quite as high as Vinicius would, however he would certainly be another premium pick to factor into our thinking.
