<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The UEFA Champions League is a great way to watch the best football teams, from the top leagues in Europe, compete against each other for one of the most prestigious trophies in sports. <h2>Tip #1: Don’t shy away from top players because of price</h2>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The UEFA Champions League is where the top players in the world separate themselves and show their true qualities. This is an important trophy to win for many players/teams and it shows with the quality displayed on the pitch. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Players such a <strong>Mohamed Salah, Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe</strong> (all priced at or above €10.5m) finished in the top seven for overall points and none of their teams made the finals. </span></p>

<h2>Tip #2: Take advantage of the scoring system</h2>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The way the scoring system for UCL Fantasy is structured is similar to FPL, however, there are a few different scoring categories managers must understand. Ball recoveries is the most important in my opinion, it is a great way to pick up points. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Players like <strong>Wilmar Barrios</strong> from Zenit St. Petersburg was a very popular player in the group stage last year, a €4.5m defensive midfielder who received 16 points, in six games, from 52 ball recoveries which is great value for his price. <h2>Tip #3: Monitor schedules carefully and choose players from both Gamedays</h2>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">A major benefit to UCL Fantasy is the opportunity to substitute players from your bench to your starting lineup, in-between Gamedays. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">This means picking players that play on both days (usually Tuesday and Wednesday) is important to increase opportunities for more points. Having starting players who play on the second Gameday, on the bench, is critical to scoring higher point totals. </span></p>

<h2>Tip #4: Limit the twisting of captaincy</h2>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Just like managers have the ability to substitute players from their bench into their starting lineups in between Gamedays, they also have the ability to change their captaincy pick. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">This allows managers to take a possible differential in the first Gameday knowing they can change their captain to someone playing the next day, or simply the ability to swap out a favourite if they blank. The challenge is when to stick and when to twist. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">One goal from a forward or an assist/clean sheet from a midfielder would be examples of when mangers debate changing their captain if they feel a favourite on the second day should return more points. Sometimes holding is the best option, banked points are banked points. </span></p>

<h2>Tip #5: Save chips as with FPL</h2>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Saving chips is a recommended strategy in the UCL Champions League game. Since managers basically receive a free wildcard before the round of 16, waiting until after this Matchday is a smart strategy. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Teams begin to get eliminated after the round of 16 so having a wildcard to transfer eliminated players is an advantage. Obviously, injuries and other possible issues could strike, forcing an early chip, but planning and understanding when to use chips is key to success. </span></p>

<h2>Tip #6: Don’t take unnecessary points hits (-4 transfers)</h2>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Taking hits (going over the provided transfer allocation for a -4 points deduction off total score) is a strategy often used in FPL. In UCL Fantasy however, taking hits has a larger negative impact on teams because of the points structure. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Since managers can use substitutes, if planning is done ahead, there should be no reason managers can’t at least get a starting lineup out (pending injuries, other issues). With many managers not taking hits in the game, starting a Matchday with a -4 or more, puts managers behind significantly, right from the start. </span></p>
