<p>Alexander Isak is set to sign for Newcastle United in a club-record deal &#8211; but what are his fantasy football prospects?</p>
<p>The signing, for a reported £60m, would smash Newcastle&#8217;s previous transfer record of £40m, which they paid for Joelinton in 2019.</p>
<p>Although the deal is not yet over the line, Isak was discussed in Newcastle manager Eddie Howe&#8217;s press conference on Friday morning (August 26).</p>
<p>Howe told reporters: &#8220;It&#8217;s not completed. We hope to get it done.&#8221;</p>
<p>He added that it was possible the signing could be completed in time for the striker to face Wolves on Sunday.</p>
<p>In this article, we explore Isak&#8217;s history and his fantasy credentials.</p>

<h2>Alexander Isak &#8211; youth career and breakthrough</h2>
<p>Isak was born in Solna, near Sweden&#8217;s capital city Stockholm, in September 1999.</p>
<p>Football was soon a major part of his life and as a six-year-old, he joined local side AIK, where he stayed throughout his youth career.</p>
<p>In February 2016, at the age of 16, Isak made a breakthrough into AIK&#8217;s senior team.</p>
<p>He burst onto the scene with a debut goal, scoring after coming on as a sub in a Swedish Cup tie.</p>
<p>Just over a month later, Isak made his Swedish league debut. And he became one of the league&#8217;s youngest-ever scorers by netting in the match, against Ostersunds FK, who were then managed by Brighton manager Graham Potter.</p>
<p>Isak made 24 appearances for AIK, scoring 10 goals, before German side Borussia Dortmund came calling.</p>
<h2>Alexander Isak &#8211; Dortmund career</h2>
<p>Isak&#8217;s time in Germany was not altogether successful.</p>
<p>Competition was far stiffer than he was used to, with figures such as Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang in their prime at the Westfalenstadion.</p>
<p>He played just 17 times for the club between 2017 and 2019 and spent time on loan at Dutch Eredivisie side Willem II, where he scored an impressive 13 goals in 16 games.</p>
<p>While Isak becoming the first foreign-born player to score 12 goals in his first 12 games in the Eredivisie wasn&#8217;t enough to prolong his Dortmund career, it was enough to secure a move elsewhere.</p>

<h2>Alexander Isak &#8211; move to Spain</h2>
<p>La Liga club Real Sociedad came calling and in June 2019, the young Swede signed a five-year deal with the Spanish side.</p>
<p>Much like his AIK breakthrough and loan spell at Willem II, Isak showed he could adapt quickly to new surroundings.</p>
<p>He scored on his non-competitive debut in pre-season and by late September had his first La Liga goal.</p>
<p>Isak&#8217;s first season at Sociedad was promising and he scored nine and assisted one in <a href="https://www.whoscored.com/Players/299254/History/Alexander-Isak">1,500 minutes</a> of league football.</p>
<p>His second season, in which he scored 17 times and assisted twice, was his career best to date &#8211; a goal every two games.</p>
<p>The 2021/22 campaign was not however so fruitful, with Isak scoring six and assisting two in 32 games.</p>
<p>Sociedad&#8217;s overall goalscoring output took a slump in this season too, though, with the side scoring just 40 goals compared to the previous season&#8217;s 59.</p>
<h2>Alexander Isak &#8211; international performances</h2>
<p>Isak made appearances at Sweden&#8217;s various youth levels but made his senior bow against Ivory Coast in January 2017.</p>
<p>In his second game, against Slovakia, he became the country&#8217;s youngest-ever goalscorer, aged 17 years and 113 days.</p>
<p>He has scored nine senior goals in 37 international games.</p>
<p>Those who watched Euro 2020 will have seen flashes of the Swede, who picked up two assists in four games as his country reached the last-16 of the tournament.</p>
<h2>Alexander Isak &#8211; FPL prospects</h2>
<p>Isak comes to the Premier League having reportedly courted attention from some of Europe&#8217;s biggest clubs in the past, including Real Madrid.</p>
<p>At the age of 22, he has plenty of potential to improve, and will hope to settle as well as his Swedish counterpart <strong>Dejan Kulusevski (£8.2m) </strong>did when he joined Tottenham Hotspur last season.</p>
<p>Isak is used to lining up as a central striker, and with Newcastle primarily setting up in a 4-3-3 formation so far this season, on the face of it, he could be competing for game time alongside <strong>Callum Wilson (£7.4m) </strong>and <strong>Chris Wood (£5.9m)</strong>.</p>
<p>But Newcastle securing the Swede&#8217;s signature comes at an opportune moment, as Wilson is nursing a hamstring injury. Howe said on Friday that the injury wasn&#8217;t believed to be &#8216;serious&#8217; &#8211; although at least a couple of weeks on the sideline is likely.</p>
<p>This could see Isak introduced into the starting 11 quickly, with the record signing facing less competition in his first few weeks.</p>
<p>According to <a href="https://www.whoscored.com/Players/299254/Show/Alexander-Isak">WhoScored</a>, Isak&#8217;s best attribute is his dribbling skills, and it is not out of the question that Eddie Howe could field him in the same team as Wilson when both are fit, with Isak taking a spot either side of Newcastle&#8217;s established striker.</p>
<p>But given Newcastle&#8217;s outlay on their new star, a key role seems likely going forward.</p>
<h2>How much is Alexander Isak in FPL?</h2>
<p>Isak was added to FPL on Friday, coming in at £7.0m.</p>

<p>Goals and assists are important in all fantasy formats, but away from FPL other factors are also in play.</p>
<p>Telegraph awards midfielders points for tackles, while in Sky points are available for passing, shots and tackle tiers.</p>
<p>Sun Dream also uses WhoScored ratings and awards bonus points to the &#8216;star man&#8217; and those who have achieved a game rating of seven or above.</p>
<p>Isak was given an average WhoScored rating of 6.73 in La Liga last season, while he averaged 7.03 in his best campaign.</p>
<p>In 2021/22, he average a total of 2.3 shots per game, 1.5 of which came in the box.</p>
