<h2><strong>Best FPL captain for Gameweek 10: The candidates</strong></h2>
<p>Last week our number two was the top scorer, but all three of the picks did well, and long may that continue. Our punt choice continues to hit double figures!</p>
<p>This week we have quite the conundrum. Our usual auto captain has a tough fixture and hasn’t really been delivering lately. A lot of teams will have refreshed squads after the wildcard, and there are several good options, but this is the best?</p>
<p>I’ve provided a breakdown of the best options. The main candidates for this week I'm looking at are:</p>

<li><strong>Mohammed Salah (£12.6m) </strong>v Nottingham Forest (H)</li>
<li><strong>Erling Haaland (£14.0m)</strong> v Manchester United (A)</li>
<li><strong>Ollie Watkins (£8.2m)</strong> v Luton (H)</li>
<li><strong>Bukayo Saka (£8.5m)</strong> v Sheffield United (H)</li>
<li><strong>Jarrod Bowen (£7.3m) </strong>v Everton (H)</li>
</ul>
<p>There are solid alternatives to the above from the same teams, however I have selected these specific options as I believe they have the most upside.</p>

<p>This illustrates why my preference is always to captain a midfielder where possible. With Haaland's dip in form and fixture change it now makes sense to try to adopt this approach.</p>

<p><strong>Haaland </strong>- all his returns came in the home game last season.</p>
<p><strong>Bowen </strong>- braced in the home game last season and scored at home the season before.</p>
<p><strong>Salah</strong> - scored in the home game last season.</p>
<p><strong>Saka</strong> - scored in the last home game against Sheffield United. He was a left back for the games earlier in his career.</p>
<p><strong>Watkins</strong> – hasn’t faced Luton in the league before.</p>

<p>These other players aren't on my captaincy canddiates list, but have a decent record against their opposition:</p>
<p><strong>Gabriel Martinelli (£7.7m)</strong> - has never blanked when he's started against Sheffield United.</p>
<p><strong>Son Heung-min (£7.5m)</strong> - has only blanked once in the last five against Palace. He scored away last season, although that's the only time he has scored away against them.</p>
