<h2><strong>Best FPL captain for Gameweek 20: The candidates</strong></h2>
<p>Happy New Year! This has been drafted prior to the final match of Gameweek 19 to provide more time to digest the content and because we’re not focusing on Arsenal captaincy options at the moment.</p>
<p>We nailed the captaincy in Gameweek 18, although that was a fairly unanimous decision. In Gameweek 19, many were tempted by <strong>Cole Palmer</strong> against Ipswich, however our metric had <strong>Mohamed Salah </strong>as the clear leader. The difference in outcome was 14 points, which is huge. Hopefully you went with the article.</p>
<p>Salah is always an enticing option and although Manchester United have historically caused Liverpool problems, the current Red Devils do not appear capable of doing so.</p>
<p>There are some other intriguing match-ups to consider though, so is Salah the clear best option again or is there another?</p>

<h2 style="text-align: left;">Best FPL captain for Gameweek 20: Players' records</h2>
<p>Here are some notable records for our captaincy candidates:</p>
<p><strong>Palmer </strong>- Has never blanked against Palace but also hasn't scored.</p>
<p><strong>Haaland </strong>- Scored a hat-trick in the reverse fixture. He did blank the home fixture last season but that's the only time he's blanked against West Ham.</p>
<p><strong>Salah</strong> - Blanked in the last home match against United but returned in the previous seven, including a 17 point haul this season.</p>
<p><strong>Isak</strong> - Has only blanked once against Spurs but it was away. He has scored three in his last two games against them.</p>
<p><strong>Watkins</strong> - Has returned in each of the last three matches against Leicester.</p>
<p>Strictly speaking, Salah should get additional weighting given his long record against United, however for the purposes of the metric I will rank the top four equally.</p>
