Fixture: Burnley (A)
At a glance this feels like a no brainer - Liverpool against a promoted side.
However, I have a few reservations. First of all, the teams with a lot of international players can often be a little sluggish post break.
Secondly, Burnley at home is very different to away and this also applies to the other promoted sides. From what we’ve seen so far, they’re more willing to have a go away from home but more conservative at home.
Lastly, Salah doesn’t appear as talismanic in this current Liverpool iteration and that could be heightened once Alexander Isak integrates.
It's a tiny sample size, but Burnley have conceded three in their previous two away games and kept a clean sheet at home. A lot of that is due to the teams they’ve faced, and they have the worst xGC in the league.
Liverpool’s xG is relatively poor, however they’ve scored the most goals so far and are projected to score the most this week.
Previous matches were under different managers, so take this with a pinch of salt, but Salah has a terrible record against Burnley.
He’s only scored one goal in eight starts and that was the first match he played against them - he's blanked the last five.
This could be the end of that anomaly though, as despite it only being three games so far, Burnley’s weaknesses are already apparent.
They’ve conceded the most shots in the league by far from their left, and this match up favours Salah.
