<h2><strong>Best FPL captain for Gameweek 3: The candidates</strong></h2>
<p>Popular captain choice <strong>Erling Haaland</strong> blanked last week, although it was by no means an easy fixture.</p>
<p>Does this tempt you to back someone else this week, or is the combination of the fixture and his pedigree enough?</p>
<p>I’ve provided a breakdown of the best options. The main candidates for this week that I'm considering are are:</p>

<li><strong>Erling Haaland (£14.0m)</strong> v Sheffield United (A)</li>
<li><strong>Ben Chilwell (£5.7m)</strong> v Luton (H)</li>
<li><strong>Bukayo Saka (£8.6m)</strong> v Fulham (H)</li>
<li><strong>Bryan Mbeumo (£6.7m) </strong>v Crystal Palace (H)</li>
<li><strong>Marcus Rashford (£9.0m)</strong> v Nottingham Forest (H)</li>
</ul>
<p>There are solid alternatives to the above from the same team, however I have selected these specific options, as I believe they have the most upside.</p>

<h2 style="text-align: left;">Best FPL captain for Gameweek 3: Players' records</h2>
<p>Sheffield United and Luton weren't in the Premier League last season, so Haaland and Chilwell don't feature here.</p>
<p>Of the other main captaincy candidates, Rashford is the pick of the bunch.</p>
<p>He hauled at home last season and when he played Forest in the Carabao Cup, he got three returns in one start and a cameo. He hasn't blanked against them.</p>
<p>Mbeumo picked up an assist at home last season but he wasn't the main man in the side at the time.</p>
<p>Saka's only return came at home against Fulham.</p>
<h3>Other notable records</h3>
<p>Outside the captaincy candidates this week, there are a few others with good records against their opposition.</p>
<p><strong>Martin Odegaard (£8.5m) </strong>scored in both fixtures last season, while <strong>Gabriel Martinelli (£8.0m) </strong>found the net in the away game.</p>
<p><strong>Yoane Wissa (£6.1m)</strong> scored away last season in an 11 minute cameo.</p>
<p>And <strong>Bruno Fernandes (£8.5m) </strong>scored in the away game against Forest in the Carabao Cup but hasn't returned in the league.</p>

<p style="text-align: left;">These stats are taken from the Fantasy Football Hub <a href="https://www.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/opta">Opta stats tool</a>.</p>
<p>As mentioned in my previous article, the stats shouldn’t be given too much weighting until we’ve had a reasonable sample size, as they’re heavily influenced by opposition but I will detail them below so that you can visualise how the first two weeks went.</p>
<p>I’ve used 'per appearance' data, so that it isn’t skewed by Luton and Burnley’s blanks.</p>
