<h2 style="text-align: left;">The Best FPL Defenders for Blank Gameweek 27</h2>

Joao Cancelo (£7.1m) – Manchester City</strong></h3>
<p><strong>Fixture: Everton (a)</strong></p>
<p>Joao Cancelo has one goal, eight assists this season with 16 shots in the Box and an xG of 3.95 (1<sup>st</sup> among defenders). He has also created 32 Chances with an xA of 4.34 (2<sup>nd</sup> amongst defenders). With Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal all blanking this week he will almost be a must-have for Gameweek 27.</p>
<p>Manchester City have been the best defensive side in the league by a distance, keeping 15 clean sheets (1<sup>st</sup>) and conceding only 17 goals (1<sup>st</sup>) with an xGC of 20.0 (1<sup>st</sup>).</p>
<p>The Blues face Everton this week who have had a terrible season as they sit just four points from safety. They have scored 28 goals (13<sup>th</sup>) with an xG of 29.8 (14<sup>th</sup>) which shows just how poor they have been.</p>
<p>From a defensive point of view, this is one of the best fixtures of the Gameweek. City are the joint favourites to keep a clean sheet (52%) against the Toffees and also the favourites to score 2.5+ goals (49%).</p>
<p>This bodes well for Cancelo as he is one of the most attacking defenders in the league who plays for the team with the second-best attack.</p>
<p>Our <a href="https://fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/predictions/">Points Prediction Tool</a> has Cancelo as the fourth highest predicted scoring defender (5.5 points) for Blank Gameweek 27. He is only behind three Burnley defenders due to their double fixture.</p>

<h3><strong>Luke Shaw (£5.0m) – Manchester United</strong></h3>
<p><strong>Fixture: Watford (H)</strong></p>
<p>Manchester United have been poor at back by their standards. They have conceded 34 goals (8<sup>th</sup>) with an xGC of 39.8 (15<sup>th</sup>). However, they do have a very kind fixture in Blank Gameweek 27.</p>
<p>The Red Devils come up against Watford who have only managed to score 24 goals (17<sup>th</sup>) with an xG of 29.3 (15<sup>th</sup>). They have been one of the worst attacking sides in the league and it doesn’t look like their new manager will change that judging by his first few games in charge.</p>
<p>Even though United have struggled defensively I still feel they will be too strong for the Hornets and should get their seventh clean sheet of the season. The bookmakers agree. They rank them as the joint favourites to keep a clean sheet (52%) in Blank Gameweek 27.</p>
<p>Luke Shaw seems to have claimed back his spot at left-back so I think he starts this week. He looks like the best defender to own for United as he has the most attacking threat. He has created 41 Chances with an xA of 3.18 (1<sup>st</sup> among his team) and has also registered three assists. He is on corners and some free-kicks also.</p>
<p>Our <a href="https://fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/predictions/">Points Prediction Tool</a> has him as the sixth highest predicted scoring defender (4.8 points) for Blank Gameweek 27. He is only behind Cancelo for the defenders who have a single Gameweek.</p>

<h3><strong>Ben Mee (£4.8m) – Burnley</strong></h3>
<p><strong>Fixture: Crystal Palace (a) and Leicester City (H)</strong></p>
<p>Burnley have only kept five clean sheets this season, however all of them have come since Gameweek 14. They do seem to be tightening up at the back and actually have quite a decent defensive record over the season.</p>
<p>At the time of writing, they have only conceded 29 goals (7<sup>th</sup>) with an xGC of 35.7 (9<sup>th</sup>).</p>
<p>The Clarets' defence is an attractive option this week simply due to them being the only team to have a double fixture. They play Crystal Palace (a) and Leicester City (H) in Blank Gameweek 27. Both are decent sides going forward but at the same time, they are teams that Burnley could well keep out.</p>
<p>Sean Dyche’s men have only conceded two goals in the last five games, keeping three clean sheets against Arsenal, Watford and Brighton.</p>
<p>The bookmakers have them ranked at 25% and 28% to keep a clean sheet in their respective fixtures which means they have a 46% chance (2<sup>nd</sup>) to keep at least one clean sheet.</p>
<p>Ben Mee looks the best defender from the Burnley defence. He is fit, nailed to start, and has goal threat too. He has two goals this season with an xG of 1.43.</p>
<p>Furthermore, our <a href="https://fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/predictions/">Prediction Tool</a> has him as the highest predicted scoring defender (6.7 points) in Blank Gameweek 27.</p>

<h3><strong>Tino Livramento (£4.3m) – Southampton</strong></h3>
<p><strong>Fixture: Norwich (H)</strong></p>
<p>Southampton have kept 6 clean sheets (7<sup>th</sup>) conceding 37 goals (14<sup>th</sup>) in the process with an xGC of 39.7 (14<sup>th</sup>). They haven’t been great at the back but they do come up against the worst attacking side in the league this Gameweek.</p>
<p>The Saints welcome Norwich to St. Marys in Blank Gameweek 27. Dean Smith’s team have only scored 15 goals (20<sup>th</sup>) with an xG of 21.3 (20<sup>th</sup>). They sit bottom of the league and really do look destined for the drop.</p>
<p>Tino Livramento has been one of the picks of the season so far. He started the season at only £4.0m and has been great value. He is the first choice right-back at the club seeing as he started every game he was fit. His injury in Gameweek 20 meant he missed five games but he started his first game last Gameweek against Everton where he played the full 90 minutes and also picked up an assist and clean sheet.</p>
<p>He has one goal two assists this season with an xG of 1.30 and an xA of 1.64. He clearly has some attacking threat and probably has the easiest fixture of the season in Norwich at home.</p>
<p>Southampton are the second favourites to keep a clean sheet (44%) in Blank Gameweek 27 and with how poor the Canaries have been both offensively and defensively, Livramento will have chances of returns at both ends of the pitch.</p>

<h3><strong>Tyrick Mitchell (£4.5m) – Crystal Palace</strong></h3>
<p><strong>Fixture: Burnley (H)</strong></p>
<p>Tyrick Mitchell has started every game for Crystal Palace this season. He has one assist while creating 18 Chances with an xA of 1.39. He has been another great value defender playing in a decent defence.</p>
<p>The Eagles come up against Burnley at home this Gameweek. The Clarets have only scored 20 goals (19<sup>th</sup>) with an xG of 22.1 (19<sup>th</sup>). Their attack has been very poor and the main reason for them sitting 19<sup>th</sup> in the league just now.</p>
<p>Palace on the other hand have been okay at the back. They have conceded 36 goals (9<sup>th</sup>) with an xGC of 32.0 (6<sup>th</sup>). They have kept six clean sheets and been a tad unfortunate not to have kept more to be quite honest.</p>
<p>The bookies also have Patrick Viera’s men at 44% (2<sup>nd</sup>) to keep a clean sheet in Blank Gameweek 27, and really, they won't get many better opportunities to keep a clean sheet this season.</p>
<p>Also with the way the fixtures have fallen this week, with the blanks especially, Mitchell is one of the best defensive options. He has the most attacking threat from their defence and is also at a decent price of £4.5m.</p>
