<h2 style="text-align: left;">The Best FPL Defenders for Double Gameweek 29</h2>
<h3><strong><br />
Trent Alexander Arnold (£8.5m) – Liverpool</strong></h3>
<p><strong>Fixtures: Brighton (a) &amp; Arsenal (a)</strong></p>
<p>Trent Alexander-Arnold has two goals and 11 assists this season, with an xG of 2.46. He has also created 87 Chances, with an xA of 9.24 (2<sup>nd</sup> overall).</p>
<p>Liverpool play Brighton and Arsenal in Double Gameweek 29. The fixture against the Seagulls is where the Reds will be more likely to get a clean sheet. Graham Potter's side have only scored 26 goals (17<sup>th</sup>) with an xG of 34.2 (13<sup>th</sup>).</p>
<p>The Arsenal game will be a lot tougher. The Gunners have scored 41 goals (6<sup>th</sup>) with an xG of 40.0 (7<sup>th</sup>). This fixture is harder to call, but Liverpool do have a solid defence so it won't be easy for Mikel Arteta’s team.</p>
<p>Jurgen Klopp’s men have conceded only 20 goals (2<sup>nd</sup>) with an xGC of 27.3 (2<sup>nd</sup>) so really their defensive assets are good in almost any fixture.</p>
<p>Also, Trent has such good attacking stats and output that attacking returns are probably just as likely as defensive. He is a glue pick this season, and in a double gameweek is a must-own player. He is on most set-pieces also.</p>
<p>Liverpool have a 44% and 33% chance of keeping a clean sheet in their respective fixtures. This means that they have a 62% (1<sup>st</sup>) of keeping at least one clean sheet.</p>
<p>Our <a href="https://fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/predictions/">Points Prediction Tool</a> ranks him as the highest scoring defender (9.9 points) for Double Gameweek 29.</p>

<h3><strong>Andrew Robertson (£7.2m) – Liverpool</strong></h3>
<p><strong>Fixtures: Brighton (a) &amp; Arsenal (a)</strong></p>
<p>Andy Robertson has continued his surge in the second half of the season. He is not too far behind his right-sided counterpart now for attacking returns, picking up one goal and 10 assists. His goal and nine assists have come from Gameweek 13 onwards, where he clearly picked up the pace.</p>
<p>During this time he has more assists (9) than any player in the Premier League, and has the second highest xA amongst defenders (4.12).</p>
<p>From Gameweek 1 to 13 he had an xG of 0.26, creating 18 Chances with an xA of 1.76. From Gameweek 13 to 28 however, he has registered an xG of 1.19, 39 Chances created, and an xA of 4.12.</p>
<p>His attacking stats and output have seen a visible increase over the second half of the season.</p>
<p>As mentioned above, Liverpool have a good set of fixtures for their double this week. Therefore, going for both the fullbacks could be a viable strategy, as both play for a solid backline as well as providing plenty of attacking threat.</p>
<p>The Scotsman now has four goals and 42 assists in his last three seasons, and he doesn’t look like stopping either.</p>
<p>Unsurprisingly, our <a href="https://www.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/predictions">Points Prediction Tool</a> ranks him as the second highest predicted scoring defender (8.8 points) for Double Gameweek 29.</p>

Gabriel Magalhães (£5.3m) – Arsenal</strong></h3>
<p><strong>Fixtures: Leicester (H) &amp; Liverpool (H)</strong></p>
<p>Gabriel has enjoyed a good season with Arsenal so far. He has three goals, and is probably the most nailed from the Gunners defence. He has 18 Shots in the Box with an xG of 2.05, and has also created 7 Chances with an xA of 1.25.</p>
<p>The North London club have a bit of an unpredictable double from a defensive point of view. Leicester and especially Liverpool are good sides going forward, but Arsenal have a solid, compact defence.</p>
<p>They have conceded just 29 goals (4<sup>th</sup>) with an xGC of 33.9 (4<sup>th</sup>). Only Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City have a better defence than them this season.</p>
<p>They seem to be improving more and more as the season goes on, and I would probably expect one clean sheet here against the Foxes. Also, Gabriel has the attacking threat to potentially pop up with a goal.</p>
<p>Arsenal are at 40% and 18% to keep a clean sheet in their two games, which means they have a 50% chance of at least one clean sheet.</p>

<h3><strong>Matt Doherty (£4.7m) – Spurs</strong></h3>
<p><strong>Fixtures: Manchester United (a) &amp; Brighton (a)</strong></p>
<p>Matt Doherty has burst onto the FPL scene once again, with one goal and three assists in his last two games. You would assume he is nailed for now with his stellar performances, and FPL managers won’t need reminding of what he is capable of.</p>
<p>Tottenham have a Gameweek of two halves in their double. They come up against Manchester United in the first fixture, who are a good side going forward. They have scored 45 goals (5<sup>th</sup>) with an xG of 48.0 (3<sup>rd</sup>). Therefore a clean sheet at Old Trafford is highly unlikely.</p>
<p>Spurs’ second fixture against Brighton seems a lot likelier for a clean sheet, as the Seagulls have only managed 26 goals (17<sup>th</sup>) with an xG of 34.2 (13<sup>th</sup>). With the added attacking threat that Doherty possesses however, he can easily grab some returns in each of these games.</p>
<p>Furthermore, Tottenham have a solid defence themselves. They have conceded 32 goals this season (5<sup>th</sup>) with an xGC of 34.1 (5<sup>th</sup>).</p>
<p>There is no telling how secure Doherty’s starting birth is over the long term, but right now it looks good. I am very confident he is nailed for the short term, and certainly for Double Gameweek 29.</p>
<p>In his first two seasons with Wolves, he scored eight goals and created 15 assists, so he has attacking pedigree in abundance. He is also at a very attractive price point of just £4.7m.</p>

Seamus Coleman (£4.9m) – Everton</strong></h3>
<p><strong>Fixtures: Wolves (H) and Newcastle United (H)</strong></p>
<p>Everton are having a terrible season, and look to be in a relegation battle. However, they have a very good set of home fixtures for Double Gameweek 29. The Toffees welcome Wolves and Newcastle United to Goodison.</p>
<p>Bruno Lage’s team have been one of the worst attacking sides in the league this season. They have only netted 24 goals (18<sup>th</sup>) with an xG of 31.2 (15<sup>th</sup>). They have really struggled in front of goal.</p>
<p>Newcastle have been much improved since January, and over the season have 30 goals (13<sup>th</sup>) with an xG of 29.2 (18<sup>th</sup>). They are still in the bottom 10 when it comes to attacking stats however, and I can see this being quite a cagey affair with both teams so close together in their league positions.</p>
<p>Everton are 36% and 31% respectively to keep clean sheets for their Double Gameweek 29 fixtures, which puts them at 55% to bank at least one clean sheet.</p>
<p>Seamus Coleman looks to be the best (fit) defender for Everton from an attacking point of view. He has one goal and one assist, with an xG 0.69 and an xA of 0.59.</p>
<p>The Irishman is also ranked third for predicted points (7.9) amongst all defenders, and has a 69% chance of anytime returns according to our <a href="https://fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/predictions/">Points Prediction Tool.</a></p>
