<h2 style="text-align: left;">Who are the Best FPL Defenders For Gameweek 19?</h2>

Trent Alexander Arnold (£8.2m) – Liverpool</h3>
Fixture: Leeds United (H)
Trent Alexander-Arnold picked up more attacking returns last gameweek as he registered an assist and also three bonus points in the draw against Spurs. He has been an outstanding asset this season and has two goals and eight assists, as well as nine clean sheets.
He has 8 Shots in the Box with an xG of 1.82 and has created 61 Chances (1st) with an xA of 6.06 (2nd).
Liverpool host Leeds United in Gameweek 19 and this looks like another great fixture for the Englishman for both defence and attack. Leeds have only managed to score 18 goals (16th) with an xG of 23.8 (8th). They have largely struggled in front of goal without their main forward Patrick Bamford.
The Reds, on the other hand, have conceded 15 goals (4th) with an xGC of 19.0 (2nd). Their defensive stats are great and the bookmakers also have them as the second favourites to keep a clean sheet (50%) for Gameweek 19.
The Whites have also conceded 36 goals (19th) with an xGC of 32.4 (19th) and with his attacking ability, he probably has just as much chance of attacking returns than defensive.
The right-back is again the highest predicted points scorer (6.7) according to our <a href="https://cms.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/predictions/">Points Prediction Tool</a> amongst defenders and he is also at 74% for anytime returns (2nd overall).

<h3>Joao Cancelo (£6.4m) – Manchester City</h3>
Fixture: Leicester City (H)
With his goal and assist last gameweek, Joao Cancelo now has one goal, six assists, 10 clean sheets and sits as the third highest scoring player in the game (109 points).
The Portuguese has 10 Shots in the Box with an xG of 3.26 (1st amongst defenders) and he has also created 25 Chances with an xA of 3.42 (2nd amongst defenders).
Manchester City play Leicester City at home in Gameweek 19. The Blues have unquestionably the best defence in the league. They have only conceded 9 goals (1st) with an xGC of 11.3 (1st) and have kept 11 clean sheets (1st). Just for context, Chelsea are second for xGC at 20.3. The gulf is huge.
The Fox’s have been fine going forward with 27 goals (5th) and an xG of 23.8 (7th). However, this City team is going to be extremely hard to break down - especially with them being at home.
The bookmakers once again have City as the favourites to keep a clean sheet (55%) in Gameweek 19 and they are also second favourites to score 2.5+ goals (42%).
Looking at City’s underlying numbers it’s hard to see Leicester causing many problems, but with Cancelo we also have the assurance of his immense attacking threat also.
Our <a href="https://cms.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/predictions/">Points Prediction Tool</a> has him as the second highest scoring player amongst defenders (6.2 points) and also at 73% for anytime returns (3rd overall).

<h3>Ben Davies (£4.5m) – Spurs</h3>
Fixture: Crystal Palace (H)
Ben Davies has two assists this season in only six starts. Since the arrival of Antonio Conte he has started every game and looks to be nailed in that centre back role. He has the highest xG (1.24) among the Spurs defence and has also created three chances with an xA of 0.24.
Spurs play Crystal Palace in Gameweek 19 who are having a good season and are a much improved under Patrick Viera.
They have scored 24 goals (7th) with an xG of 22.7 (8th). They are a lot better going forward but Spurs' backline are fairly solid and they have improved since Conte’s arrival, keeping three clean sheets in his first five league games in charge.
Over the season they have conceded 19 goals (6th) with an xGC of 20.2 (4th). Despite their poor start to the season they still didn’t concede many goals.
Tottenham are at 44% to keep a clean in Gameweek 19 according to the bookmakers and Davies will also have chances of attacking returns too. Under Conte, he has been a lot more forward and his average position maps show him as one of the furthest forward defenders.
Furthermore, he is only £4.5m which is an absolute bargain for a nailed Spurs defender, especially with the kind fixtures coming up and <a href="https://cms.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/fpl-blank-double-gameweek-guide-2021-22/">Double Gameweeks</a> they'll have.

<h3>Alex Telles (£5.0m) – Manchester United</h3>
Fixture: Newcastle United (a)
Manchester United have kept back-to-back clean sheets in the league. Alex Telles has started the last four league games and seems to be number one for that left-back spot under the new manager.
The Brazilian has a very sound attacking record with 30 goals and 71 assists in 348 games in his career so he could well replicate some of that with the fixtures Manchester United have coming up.
The Red Devils travel to Newcastle in Gameweek 19. The Toon have been really poor this season as they sit second bottom of the league and only by virtue of goal difference. They have only scored 18 goals (16th) with an xG of 17.6 (18th)
Telles is an attacking left-back who is also on a lot of <a href="https://cms.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/?post_type=post&amp;p=11173">set-pieces</a>. He takes <a href="https://cms.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/?post_type=post&amp;p=11173">corners and direct free kicks</a> for United and has hit the woodwork twice in the last two games. He will pick up plenty of attacking returns if he carries on getting starts.
Man United are also at a healthy 44% (5th) to keep a clean sheet this week according to the bookmakers.

<h3>Kieran Tierney (£4.8m) – Arsenal</h3>
Fixture: Norwich (a)
After another spell out due to injury, Kieran Tierney is now fit again and has started the last four games, picking up two assists and three clean sheets. In 12 starts, the Scotsman has 5 Shots in the Box with an xG of 0.72 and has also created 12 chances with an xA of 0.63.
The North London club come up against Norwich in Gameweek 19 in what will be one of their kinder fixtures this season. The Canaries sit at the bottom of the table having only scored 8 goals (20th) with an xG of 16.8 (19th).
Arsenal have now kept eight clean sheets (4th) conceding 23 goals (9th) with an xGC of 26.9 (15th). It is important to note that 7.8 of this came in the first three games where they conceded 9 goals. Since then they are 8th for xGC (19.1).
The Gunners are actually the third favourites to keep a clean sheet in Gameweek 19 at 48% and it's no surprise really looking at Norwich’s attacking stats.
I like their chances of a clean sheet this week as they also have a very good goalkeeper in Aaron Ramsdale. Kieran Tierney is the one most likely to pick up attacking returns in that backline and if he can manage to stay fit he will get plenty more over the season.
