<h2 style="text-align: left;">The Best FPL Players for Gameweek 24 | Defenders</h2>

Joao Cancelo (£7.1m) – Manchester City</h3>
Fixture: Brentford (H)
Joao Cancelo has one goal and eight assists this season and is the third highest scoring player in the game. He has the highest xG (3.37) amongst defenders and has created 31 Chances with an xA of 4.09 (3rd amongst defenders).
Manchester City’s fixture against Brentford in Gameweek 24 is a great chance for them to keep their 14th clean sheet of the season.
The Citizens have been solid in defence, only conceding 14 goals (1st) with an xGC of 16.8 (1st) and I can't see the Bees causing them many problems this week.
Thomas Frank’s men have only scored 26 goals (14th) with an xG of 29.4 (12th) so this should be another great fixture for Cancelo for both defensive and attacking returns.
City are also the clear favourites to keep a clean sheet (62%) in Gameweek 24 according to the bookmakers.
Cancelo is pretty much a must-have asset for FPL managers this season. He is having a great season and has shown us what is capable of going forward and also plays for the best defence in the league.
Our <a href="https://cms.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/predictions/">Points Prediction Tool</a> has him second for predicted points (6.4) amongst defenders for Gameweek 24 also.

<h3>Trent Alexander-Arnold (£8.5m) – Liverpool</h3>
Fixture: Leicester City (H)
Trent Alexander-Arnold registered a rare blank last week but still remains one of the best assets in the game. He has two goals and 10 assists with 21 Shots and an xG of 2.08. He has also created 70 Chances (1st overall) with an xA of 7.18 (1st overall).
Liverpool play Leicester City in Gameweek 24 who are actually good going forward. They have scored 34 goals (6th) with an xG of 30.7 (8th). However, Liverpool have been very strong defensively this season. They have conceded only 18 goals (4th) with an xGC of 23.1 (2nd). The Reds have been amongst the top three defences all season.
Trent is just as likely to get attacking returns as defensive returns, and Leicester City have been leaky this season.
Also with Jamie Vardy still out injured, this will surely increase Liverpool’s chances of a clean sheet.
They are the third favourites to keep a clean sheet (44%) in Gameweek 24 and also to score 2.5+ goals (31%).
Alexander-Arnold can score, assist and with him being on <a href="https://cms.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/?post_type=post&amp;p=11173">set pieces</a> and playing for a good defensive team he just has so many ways to score points.
It’s no surprise that our <a href="https://cms.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/predictions/">Points Prediction Tool</a> has him as first for predicted points (6.6) amongst defenders for Gameweek 24.

<h3>Andrew Robertson (7.1m) – Liverpool</h3>
Fixture: Leicester City (H)
Andy Robertson has been great going forward as of late. He has one goal and eight assists over the season of which only one assist has come before Gameweek 13.
Since Gameweek 13 he has the highest xA (3.27) in the league while also registering the most assists (7).
Liverpool welcome Leicester in Gameweek 24 and as stated above this is a decent fixture for the Reds for both attack and defence. Robertson has shown over the last few seasons how good he is going forward and has also registered plenty of attacking returns this season.
His attacking stats and output have clearly increased in the second half of the season.
From Gameweek 1 to 13 (nine games) he had an xG of 0.26 and created 18 Chances with an xA of 1.76. Whereas from Gameweek 13 to 22 (8 games) he has an xG of 0.96 and created 27 Chances with an xA of 3.27 (1st overall).
It’s clear how much he has improved since Gameweek 13 and he is now almost matching teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold for attacking returns.

<h3>Vladimir Coufal (£4.7m) – West Ham United</h3>
Fixture: Watford (H)
West Ham United have a great fixture this week from a defensive point of view. Vladimir Coufal has three assists in 17 starts. He has created 20 Chances with an xA of 2.37 and has an xG of 0.91.
He has the best xA amongst the West Ham defence and also the most assists.
The Hammers come up against Watford in Gameweek 24. The Hornets have been among the poorest attacks in the league this season, scoring only 23 goals (16th) with an xG of 25.7 (15th).
West Ham have conceded 31 goals (10th) with an xGC of 32.5 (12th). Although they have been average defensively, they do have a very good fixture this week.
Also, Coufal will have chances at both ends of the pitch against Watford with them being so poor at the back also.
David Moyes' team are also third favourites to both keep a clean sheet (44%) and score 2.5+ goals (31%) for Gameweek 24.

<h3>Lucas Digne (£5.1m) – Aston Villa</h3>
Fixture: Leeds United (H)
Aston Villa have seen a big improvement in their results since the arrival of Steven Gerrard. They have won five of their last 10 games under the new manager with the losses coming from Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Brentford.
Lucas Digne is the latest of Gerrard’s signings and has already got off to a great start. He has one assist and a clean sheet in his first two games already. Digne is a proven FPL asset with four goals and 23 assists in his last three seasons.
This season he has created 29 Chances with an xA of 2.23 and also has an xG of 0.46.
The Villains come up against Leeds United at home in Gameweek 24. The Whites haven’t been anywhere near as good this season as last, and have only managed to score 24 goals (15th) with an xG of 29.4 (12th).
Since the arrival of Gerrard, Aston Villa have improved defensively also, conceding only 12 goals (5th) with an xGC of 13.6 (7th). I like Digne for this game as I feel he also has chances of returns at both ends of the pitch.
Also going forward I really like Villa’s fixtures. They play Leeds (H), Newcastle United (a), Watford (H) and Southampton (H) in the next five and also <a href="https://cms.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/fpl-blank-double-gameweek-guide-2021-22/">have two Double Gameweeks to come</a>.
