<h2 style="text-align: left;">Who are the Best FPL Defenders For Gameweek 3?</h2>

Luke Shaw (£5.5m) – Manchester United</h2>
Fixture: Wolves (a)
Manchester United face Wolves (a) in Gameweek 3 and the Red Devils are at 40% to keep clean sheet (4th).
Wolves have not been able to score yet this season despite having 42 Shots at goal (2nd). Only nine of these have been on target though which tells us they are lacking in the finishing department.
Man United have conceded a goal in both their opening fixtures. Yet they have only conceded 6 Shots in the Box (1st), 6 Shots on Target (4th), 2 Big Chances (2nd) and an xGC of 1.9 (4th). Their defensive stats have been decent and indicate that they are still a good defensive side.
Luke Shaw managed to score two bonus points against Southampton (a) last Gameweek despite a 1-1 draw and no attacking returns. He has created 4 Chances and 1 Big Chance and also took some <a href="https://cms.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/?post_type=post&amp;p=11173">corners and free-kicks</a>. His attacking returns and the clean sheets will come too.
Last season, Man United kept 13 clean sheets (4th) while only conceding 44 goals (5th). The Red Devils will surely only improve on that this season with Raphael Varane (£5.5m) partnering Harry Maguire (£5.5m) in central defence.

<h2>Ruben Dias (£6.0m) – Manchester City</h2>
Fixture: Arsenal (H)
Manchester City registered their first win and clean sheet last Gamweek against Norwich. They conceded only one shot in the whole game with an xGC of zero. 
Although it was against weak opposition, the Citizens have a very formidable backline. They were the strongest defence by far last season, keeping 19 clean sheets (1st) with only 32 goals conceded (1st).
Despite their Gameweek 1 loss to Spurs, they still have the best defence this season after two games. Pep Guardiola's side have only conceded 6 Shots in the Box (1st), 2 Shots on Target and xGC on 0.8 (1st).
They come up against Arsenal in Gameweek 3 in which they are favourites again to keep a clean sheet (55%). Ruben Dias is the most nailed defender for City and looks to have another relatively easy fixture here.
The Gunners have failed to score in both their opening games with an xG of 1.7 (16th) and they look very out of sorts.
Dias also has some attacking threat in him – he managed an assist against Norwich. Last season, the Portuguese international notched one goal and an assist with 14 Shots in the Box, 3 Big Chances and xG of 2.01.
Furthermore, Dias is the top predicted scoring defender (4.4) according to our <a href="https://cms.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/predictions/">Points Prediction Tool</a>. He is at 52% for anytime returns.

<h2>Shane Duffy (£4.1m) – Brighton</h2>
Fixture: Everton (H)
Similar to Manchester City, Brighton also kept their first clean sheet in Gameweek 2 in a 2-0 win against Watford.
They come up against stronger opposition in Gameweek 3 versus Everton at home. However, they are still fifth favourites to keep a clean sheet at 38%. In the first two weeks, they recorded an xGC of 1.6 (3rd).
Shane Duffy has emerged as the best £4.0m defender so far. Due to Joel Veltman (£4.5m) contracting the coronavirus, Duffy has started the first two for the Seagulls. With the Dutch international confirmed out again for Gameweek 3, Duffy is sure to start again.
Already he has managed a goal with 7 shots (1st among defenders), 3 Shots on Target (1st), 7 Shots in the Box (1st) and xGC on 0.61 (2nd).
The Irishman is a big threat from <a href="https://cms.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/?post_type=post&amp;p=11173">set-pieces</a> and has a decent fixture this week. Our <a href="https://cms.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/fixture-ticker/">Fixture Ticker</a> also ranks Brighton 4th for clean sheet chance.
Although the Toffees do have a strong attack with Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£8.0m) leading the line, Brighton are very capable of keeping them at bay.
Duffy’s attacking threat also gives him a chance at both ends of the pitch.

<h2>Vladimir Coufal (£5.0m) – West Ham United</h2>
Fixture: Crystal Palace (H)
West Ham have a very favourable home fixture in Gameweek 3 as they come up against Crystal Palace at home. They are third favourites to keep a clean in Gameweek 3 (45%) according to the bookmakers and rightly so.
Their opponents have yet to score this season and it looks like they will struggle in this one also. Palace have only managed 11 Shots (20th), 3 Shots on Target (20th), 9 Shots in the Box (19th) and 1 Big Chance (20th).
The Eagles also have an xG of 0.9 (20th) which places them as the worst attacking team in the league so far.
Meanwhile, the Hammers have conceded in their first two games this season. However, they have a great fixture to pick up their first clean sheet of the campaign.
Vladamir Coufal picked up an assist against Leicester City last Gameweek. He was very attacking down that right side and created 3 Chances and 2 Big Chances (1st) this season. Last term, he picked up nine assists so clearly has that in his arsenal.
West Ham also rank second according to our <a href="https://cms.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/fixture-ticker/">Fixture Ticker</a> when filtered on defence. Looking at Palace’s attacking stats, it comes as no surprise.
Coufal is also ranked joint top with Ruben Dias for predicted points (4.4) according to our <a href="https://cms.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/predictions/">Points Prediction Tool</a>. The Czech Republic international is also at 53% for anytime returns.

<h2>Sergio Reguilón (£5.0m) – Spurs</h2>
Fixture: Watford (H)
Spurs have a really good fixture from both a defensive and attacking viewpoint in Gameweek 3. Nuno Espirito Santo's men come up against Watford at home.
The North London club have kept back-to-back clean sheets despite tough opening games against Manchester City (H) and Wolves (a).
Reguilón is their most attacking defender so this looks like a plum game for him for both defensive and attacking returns.
He managed six assists last season with 17 Chances created and 4 Big Chances created in only 26 starts. Also, Spurs kept 12 clean sheets last term (5th) conceding only 45 goals (6th).
In their opening two games, Watford have managed 16 Shots in the Box (14th), 8 Shots on Target (16th) and 1 Big Chance (20th).
Furthermore, Spurs are the second favourites to keep a clean sheet in Gameweek 3 (52%) according to the bookmakers.
