<p>Former Chelsea man Lewis Hall appears to have made the Newcastle left-back spot his own, having played in various positions including midfield and out wide previously in his career.</p>
<p>Hall carries plenty of assist threat down the left-hand side thanks to his pace and crossing ability, having picked up two assists and a goal in pre-season.</p>
<p>He's also a capable set-piece taker - which could come into play in the absence of <strong>Kieran </strong><strong>Trippier (£6.0m)</strong>.</p>
<p>Despite starting just eight games last season, Hall has now signed from Chelsea on a permanent deal, and it looks like he will be given the start at home to Southampton in Gameweek 1.</p>

<p>While <strong>Dan Burn (£4.5m)</strong> has played this position in the past, Burn is predicted to start the season at centre-back for the Magpies as regular centre-backs <strong>Sven Botman (£4.5m) </strong>and <strong>Jamal Lascelles (£4.5m) </strong>remain out injured.</p>
<p>Reserve left-back <strong>Matt Targett (£4.0m) </strong>is also out injured, which leaves only <strong>Jamal Lewis (£4.5m) </strong>as natural competition for Hall in the Magpies' side.</p>
<p>Hall played the last few games of 2023/24 at left-back for Newcastle, and offered significantly more open play threat than Burn, so it's far from unfamiliar territory for him heading into the new season.</p>

<p>It's important to caveat this pick with a mention of <strong>Diogo Jota (£7.5m) </strong>who looks set to start the season as the central striker for Liverpool, although rotation will surely come with <strong>Darwin Nunez </strong><strong>(£7.5m) </strong>waiting in the wings.</p>
<p>Jota looks like the man to own from Arne Slot's side right now, with <strong>Mohamed Salah (£12.5m) </strong>and <strong>Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.0m) </strong>offering less budget-friendly alternatives.</p>
<p>That leaves Luis Diaz as very much the fourth man in FPL terms, but depending on the structure of your team, there's every chance that you don't have room for heavy hitters such as Salah and Alexander-Arnold, which brings Diaz into contention.</p>
