<h3><strong>Malick Thiaw (£5.0m) - Newcastle - 1.9% owned</strong></h3>
<p><strong>Fixture: Burnley (H)</strong></p>
<p>Thiaw looks like the safest route into a Newcastle defence that face Burnley twice in the next five gameweeks, with the first occasion coming this weekend at St. James' Park.</p>
<p>Although <strong>Tino Livramento </strong>looks like a potential attacking punt well worth consisdering, there could be rotation at full-back once <strong>Kieran Trippier </strong>returns to fitness, while Thiaw has been a mainstay in the Newcastle team since his first league start for the Magpies in Gameweek 5.</p>
<p>The Germany international has scored a couple of goals in his nine starts for Eddie Howe's side, while only <strong>Pascal Strujik </strong>of Leeds United has racked up more headed attempts among defenders during that spell.</p>

<p>Underlying data suggests that Newcastle have been the league's fourth-best defence so far, and with strong <a href="https://www.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/fixture-ticker-old/">fixtures</a> ahead their defensive assets are certainly worth targeting.</p>
<p>As the fixtures improve for Newcastle so do their clean sheet prospects, and as such Thiaw looks like a steady investment heading into Gameweek 15, but there are other strings to his FPL bow too.</p>
<p>Thiaw's 16-point brace against Everton lives fresh in the memory, yet his defensive contribution potential has gone slightly under the radar - he's hit the points threshold on four occasions in his nine league starts.</p>

<h3><strong>Yankuba Minteh (£6.3m) - Brighton - 9.7% owned</strong></h3>

<p>Minteh created three chances and had two shots inside the box against Aston Villa last gameweek, and despite a blank the Gambia international is in a good vein of form overall, having notched five assists in his last seven starts.</p>
<p>In a less than cluttered midfield bracket, there is good reason to consider the league's assist leader ahead of a home game against West Ham, and that's not the only favourable fixture on the horizon for Brighton.</p>
<p>Additionally, the Hammers concede a greater number of chances down their left-hand side, so there's extra reason to be hopeful of a Minteh return this weekend specifically.</p>

<p>The Seagulls' medium-term fixtures look good too - they face both Burnley and Sunderland at home in their next six, as well as playing West Ham again in Gameweek 19.</p>
<p>Minteh meanwhile is a key member of Fabian Hurzeler's side, and looks good for minutes over the busy festive period, as well as being safe from <a href="https://www.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/which-fpl-picks-are-affected-by-afcon-2025-26/">AFCON</a> due to Gambia's failure to qualify.</p>
<p>His owners will be disappointed to have seen the midfielder come away without a return in the 4-5 defeat to Aston Villa, but Minteh continues to produce decent underlying numbers with set-pieces to fall back on, and the fixtures are there to exploit.</p>

<h3><strong>Nico O'Reilly (£5.2m) - Manchester City - 7.3% owned</strong></h3>

<p>Nico O’Reilly is a name that keeps coming up in our differential discussion thanks to his attacking positioning, and while he's not the only Manchester City defender worth considering, once again it’s hard to look past the England man this week at home to Sunderland.</p>
<p>The Black Cats will have one eye on their huge clash with rivals Newcastle next game week - the first Tyne-Wear Derby in the Premier League for almost a decade - but they certainly won’t be pushovers at the Etihad based on what we have seen from them this season.</p>
<p>Regis Le Bris' side have failed to score on four occasions already however, and after a heavy run-out in the midweek draw at Anfield there could be tired legs in the Sunderland squad for the likes of O'Reilly to benefit from - his average position was even more advanced than 2-goal <strong>Phil Foden </strong>last gameweek.</p>

<p>Fellow Manchester City defender <strong>Matheus Nunes </strong>has also been on our radar, although some slight defensive lapses from the Portugal man could be cause for a greater chance of rotation.</p>
<p>Regardless, City are statistically the league's second-best defence after Arsenal, and given the strength of their upcoming fixture run several of their defensive assets are worth considering right now.</p>
<p>Both Nunes and O'Reilly are providing open play attacking threat, but it's O'Reilly who is getting the big goalscoring opportunities on a more regular basis.</p>
<p>Only <strong>Daniel Munoz </strong>has a greater expected goals tally than the England international since he came into the side in Gameweek 4, so a haul could be just around the corner.</p>
