The Best FPL Players for Gameweek 24 | Defenders

Joao Cancelo (£7.1m) – Manchester City

Fixture: Brentford (H)

Joao Cancelo has one goal and eight assists this season and is the third highest scoring player in the game. He has the highest xG (3.37) amongst defenders and has created 31 Chances with an xA of 4.09 (3^rd amongst defenders).

Manchester City’s fixture against Brentford in Gameweek 24 is a great chance for them to keep their 14^th clean sheet of the season.

The Citizens have been solid in defence, only conceding 14 goals (1^st) with an xGC of 16.8 (1^st) and I can't see the Bees causing them many problems this week.

Thomas Frank’s men have only scored 26 goals (14^th) with an xG of 29.4 (12^th) so this should be another great fixture for Cancelo for both defensive and attacking returns.

City are also the clear favourites to keep a clean sheet (62%) in Gameweek 24 according to the bookmakers.

Cancelo is pretty much a must-have asset for FPL managers this season. He is having a great season and has shown us what is capable of going forward and also plays for the best defence in the league.

Trent Alexander-Arnold (£8.5m) – Liverpool

Fixture: Leicester City (H)

Trent Alexander-Arnold registered a rare blank last week but still remains one of the best assets in the game. He has two goals and 10 assists with 21 Shots and an xG of 2.08. He has also created 70 Chances (1^stoverall) with an xA of 7.18 (1^st overall).

Liverpool play Leicester City in Gameweek 24 who are actually good going forward. They have scored 34 goals (6^th) with an xG of 30.7 (8^th). However, Liverpool have been very strong defensively this season. They have conceded only 18 goals (4^th) with an xGC of 23.1 (2^nd). The Reds have been amongst the top three defences all season.

Trent is just as likely to get attacking returns as defensive returns, and Leicester City have been leaky this season.

Also with Jamie Vardy still out injured, this will surely increase Liverpool’s chances of a clean sheet.

They are the third favourites to keep a clean sheet (44%) in Gameweek 24 and also to score 2.5+ goals (31%).

Alexander-Arnold can score, assist and with him being on set pieces and playing for a good defensive team he just has so many ways to score points.

It’s no surprise that our Points Prediction Tool has him as first for predicted points (6.6) amongst defenders for Gameweek 24.

Andrew Robertson (7.1m) – Liverpool

Fixture: Leicester City (H)

Andy Robertson has been great going forward as of late. He has one goal and eight assists over the season of which only one assist has come before Gameweek 13.

Since Gameweek 13 he has the highest xA (3.27) in the league while also registering the most assists (7).

Liverpool welcome Leicester in Gameweek 24 and as stated above this is a decent fixture for the Reds for both attack and defence. Robertson has shown over the last few seasons how good he is going forward and has also registered plenty of attacking returns this season.

His attacking stats and output have clearly increased in the second half of the season.

From Gameweek 1 to 13 (nine games) he had an xG of 0.26 and created 18 Chances with an xA of 1.76. Whereas from Gameweek 13 to 22 (8 games) he has an xG of 0.96 and created 27 Chances with an xA of 3.27 (1^st overall).

It’s clear how much he has improved since Gameweek 13 and he is now almost matching teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold for attacking returns.

Vladimir Coufal (£4.7m) – West Ham United

Fixture: Watford (H)

West Ham United have a great fixture this week from a defensive point of view. Vladimir Coufal has three assists in 17 starts. He has created 20 Chances with an xA of 2.37 and has an xG of 0.91.

He has the best xA amongst the West Ham defence and also the most assists.

The Hammers come up against Watford in Gameweek 24. The Hornets have been among the poorest attacks in the league this season, scoring only 23 goals (16^th) with an xG of 25.7 (15^th).

West Ham have conceded 31 goals (10^th) with an xGC of 32.5 (12^th). Although they have been average defensively, they do have a very good fixture this week.

Also, Coufal will have chances at both ends of the pitch against Watford with them being so poor at the back also.

David Moyes' team are also third favourites to both keep a clean sheet (44%) and score 2.5+ goals (31%) for Gameweek 24.

Lucas Digne (£5.1m) – Aston Villa

Fixture: Leeds United (H)

Aston Villa have seen a big improvement in their results since the arrival of Steven Gerrard. They have won five of their last 10 games under the new manager with the losses coming from Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Brentford.

Lucas Digne is the latest of Gerrard’s signings and has already got off to a great start. He has one assist and a clean sheet in his first two games already. Digne is a proven FPL asset with four goals and 23 assists in his last three seasons.

This season he has created 29 Chances with an xA of 2.23 and also has an xG of 0.46.

The Villains come up against Leeds United at home in Gameweek 24. The Whites haven’t been anywhere near as good this season as last, and have only managed to score 24 goals (15th) with an xG of 29.4 (12^th).

Since the arrival of Gerrard, Aston Villa have improved defensively also, conceding only 12 goals (5^th) with an xGC of 13.6 (7^th). I like Digne for this game as I feel he also has chances of returns at both ends of the pitch.

Also going forward I really like Villa’s fixtures. They play Leeds (H), Newcastle United (a), Watford (H) and Southampton (H) in the next five and also have two Double Gameweeks to come.

The Best FPL Players for Gameweek 24 | Midfielders

Diogo Jota (£8.4m) – Liverpool

Fixture: Leicester City (H)

Diogo Jota now has 10 goals and three assists in 18 league starts. He has 53 Shots in the Box (2^nd), with an xG of 10.22 (2^nd). He has also created 35 Chances with an xA of 5.02 (9^th).

He has been unfortunate to have come out of the last four gameweeks with only an assist to his name, as he has registered an xG of 1.18 and an xA of 0.73.

Liverpool have a really favourable fixture in Gameweek 24 from an attacking point of view. They take on Leicester City at home who have conceded 37 goals (16^th) with an xGC of 39.0 (18th). The Foxes have been ravaged with injuries this season especially at the back and still have Jonny Evans, Timothy Castagne, Ricardo Pereira, and Ryan Bertrand on the sidelines.

The Reds have been as rampant as ever even without Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah. They have scored a total of 58 goals (1^st) with an xG of 56.2 (1^st). Depending on how far Mane and Salah’s national teams get in the AFCON will depend on their return date. At the moment both teams are still in the tournament.

Liverpool are actually the third favourites to score 2.5+ goals (31%) in Gameweek 24 and Diogo Jota is also the second favourite to score at anytime (53%) according to the bookmakers.

Kevin De Bruyne (£12.2m) – Manchester City

Fixture: Brentford (H)

Kevin De Bruyne looks to be nearing back to his best this season. He has six goals and two assists in only 12 starts and has four goals and two assists in his last seven games, in which he has started all of them.

The Belgian has also registered 21 Shots in the Box with an xG of 3.01 and created 49 Chances with an xA of 5.40 (5^th).

Manchester City welcome Brentford to the Etihad in what is probably the best fixture of Gameweek 24. The Citizens have been relentless again this season as they sit top of the league by nine points. They have scored 55 goals (2^nd) with an xG of 53.0 (2^nd).

The Bees have conceded 38 goals (17^th) with an xGC of 33.6 (13^th). This does not bode well for Thomas Frank’s team and I can only see another comfortable win here for City.

The bookmakers agree as they rank them as clear favourites to score 2.5+ goals (53%) for Gameweek 24.

When fit, De Bruyne is a fantastic FPL asset and will get plenty of goals and assists and his stats show that. He is on a fair amount of set-pieces also.

Jarrod Bowen (£6.8m) – West Ham United

Fixture: Watford (H)

Jarrod Bowen is enjoying a phenomenal season for West Ham United. The 25-year old has six goals and 12 assists with 44 Shots in the Box and an xG of 8.74 (6^th). He has also created 36 Chances with an xA of 5.40 (5^th).

His underlying numbers and output have simply been great and make him one of the best value assets in the game.

West Ham have a kind fixture in Gameweek 24 against Watford. They have been one of the worst defensive sides in the league conceding 40 goals (18th) with an xGC of 36.4 (16th).

David Moyes’s men have scored 41 goals (4th) with an xG of 37.2 (4th) so this looks like a perfect game for Bowen to add to his returns tally.

Jarrod has been one of the most consistent players this season and has been by far the best budget midfielder in the game. He is now the second highest scoring midfielder in the game. His xG and xA is also the highest amongst the budget mids.

Also, with him being on corners and free-kicks really makes him a must-have option at his price.

Philippe Coutinho (£7.0m) – Aston Vila

Fixture: Leeds United (H)

Philippe Coutinho has a goal and assist already in two starts for Aston Villa. Over his career, he has 102 goals and 82 assists in 430 games in all competitions so he clearly can be a great FPL asset.

In the last 10 seasons, he has 59 goals and 38 assists for Liverpool, Barcelona and Bayern Munich (league games) with an xG of 52.55 and an xA of 35.68. These are really good numbers and make him a real great option at £7.0m. He has been hampered by injuries over his career though so if it’s a question of how fit he can stay.

Aston Villa play Leeds United in Gameweek 24 who are leaky at the back and also play very attacking. They have conceded 40 goals (18th) with an xGC of 36.9 (17th).

Steven Gerrard’s men have scored 28 goals (9th) with an xG of 24.0 (17th). They will really fancy themselves against Bielsa's team and Coutinho won't get many better fixtures attacking wise.

If the Brazilian can repeat the form that got him that prestigious move to Barcelona he will be a fantastic FPL asset. Also, Gerrard has clearly bought him to be a first-team player.

Phil Foden (£8.0m) – Manchester City

Fixture: Brentford (H)

The England international has five goals and four assists this season with 25 Shots in the Box and an xG of 4.56. He has also created 33 Chances with an xA of 5.00.

He has established himself in Pep Guardiola’s first team this season and is clearly a vital player for him. Foden has also been playing in a number of positions including a false nine and also as on the left-wing.

He has registered attacking returns in both these positions so from an FPL perspective this makes him much more desirable. His underlying numbers for goals and assists are fantastic and make him the best value midfielder at City without a doubt.

Also as mentioned earlier Man City have a great fixture this week with a plum home game against Brentford and Phil has a great opportunity to register some more attacking returns. He has been one of City’s best players this season and will continue to play an important role through the rest of the season also.

The Best FPL Players for Gameweek 24 | Forwards

Chris Wood (£6.7m) – Newcastle United

Fixture: Everton (H)

Chris Wood has another great chance to get off the mark for his new club in Gameweek 24. Over the season he has three goals with 31 Shots in the Box with an xG of 4.58 while also creating 11 Chances with an xA of 1.56.

Newcastle United come up against struggling Everton in Gameweek 24. The Toffees have conceded 35 goals (15^th) with an xGC of 31.8 (11^th) and have one win in their last 14 league games.

The Toon haven't been tearing up trees themselves but are now slowly climbing out of the relegation zone. They have scored 21 goals (17^th) with an xG of 20.8 (18^th) however will really fancy themselves against an out of sorts Everton side who have now been dragged into the relegation battle themselves.

This looks like another high-scoring game on paper with both defences not so good and both teams really could do with a win here. Wood is a proven goalscorer in the Premier League with 49 goals and eight assists in his last four seasons.

There is also a very good chance he will get penalty duties with Calum Wilson still injured. He was the first choice taker at Burnley.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£7.9m) – Everton

Fixture: Newcastle United (a)

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has three goals in six starts for Everton this season but he has also blanked in the last three. The Everton forward has 18 Shots in the Box with an xG of 4.25 and has also created five Chances with an xA of 0.73.

Everton have been very poor this campaign but they are surely only going to improve and so will Calvert-Lewin’s output especially with the fixtures he has coming up.

The Toffees come up against Newcastle United in Gameweek 24 who are one of the worst teams in the league. They have conceded 43 goals (19^th) with an xGC of 40.9 (20^th). The Merseyside club have only scored 24 goals (15^th) with an xG of 25.7 (15^th) but should have more than enough firepower to score against Eddie Howe’s men.

Calvert-Lewin is a proven goal scorer with 32 goals and seven assists in the last three seasons. He had a 52% Goal Involvement last season (3^rd overall), is nailed to start, and is also the first-choice penalty taker.

He won’t have many better chances to get back to scoring ways and regardless of Everton’s form this is still a great fixture for them and Dominic.

The Evertonian is the third highest predicted scoring forward (6.4 points) for Gameweek 24 according to our Points Prediction Tool and also at 55% to score at anytime (2^nd overall).

Dominic Calvert-Lewin Stats

Michail Antonio (£7.9m) – West Ham United

Fixture: Watford (H)

Michail Antonio has eight goals and seven assists for the season with 46 Shots in the Box (2^nd), and an xG of 8.67 (3^rdamong forwards). He has also created 41 Chances with an xA of 5.42 (1^st amongst forwards).

West Ham United have a very kind fixture in Gameweek 24 as they take on Watford who have just sacked their manager. They now sit in 19^th place in the league and have conceded 40 goals (18^th) with an xGC of 36.4 (16^th).

The Hammers on the other hand have scored 41 goals (4^th) with an xG of 37.2 (4^th) which puts them as the best attacking side after Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea. They are also the 2^nd favourites to score 2.5+ goals (31%) for Gameweek 24 according to the bookmakers.

Harry Kane (£12.3m) – Tottenham Hotspur

Fixture: Southampton (H)

Harry Kane now has five goals and two assists this season, with four goals and one assist in his last six games. He has 38 Shots in the Box with an xG of 9.19 (2^nd amongst forwards) and has created 26 Chances with an xA of 5.03 (2^nd amongst forwards).

He has massively underperformed this season but now looks to be putting his chances away.

Tottenham Hotspur come up against Southampton at home in Gameweek 24. The Saints have conceded 34 goals (14^th) with an xGC of 35.4 (15^th) so have been leaky at the back. Spurs have scored 26 goals (10^th) with an xG of 33.7 (7^th) and have been improving under Antonio Conte.

This is a fine fixture for Tottenham who will be strong favourites to win this and Harry Kane will be the most likely scorer in this game by far, especially if teammate Heung-Min Son is still ruled out.

Kane had a massive Goal Involvement of 56% (1^st overall) last season and will surely have a much stronger second half of the season. He has been their talisman over the last seven seasons and is also the number one penalty taker.

Kane will be one of the best forward options this week for sure and our Points Prediction Tool ranks him as the 2^nd highest points scorer (6.6) amongst forwards and he is also at 53% (3^rd overall) to score at anytime.

Ollie Watkins (£7.7m) – Aston Villa

Fixture: Leeds United (H)

Ollie Watkins has registered five goals and two assists this season with 36 Shots in the Box and an xG of 6.09. The forward has also created 16 Chances with an xA of 2.06.

Aston Villa also have a very favourable fixture in Gameweek 24 as they welcome Leeds United to Villa Park. The Villains have scored 28 goals (9^th) with an xG of 24.0 (17^th). The Whites have been terrible defensively, conceding 40 goals (18^th) with an xGC of 36.9 (17^th).

Despite Villa being pretty average going forward they do have a great fixture this week and the addition of Philippe Coutinho (£7.0m) will also help them going forward. There has also been a stark improvement since the arrival of Steven Gerrard.

Watkins was Villa’s top scorer and assister last season with 14 goals and 9 assists. He will likely end this season as their top scorer again as he is nailed to start and their main centre forward.

He had a Goal Involvement of 42% last season and has both goal and assist threat which is great for FPL purposes. His underlying numbers show this season that he will continue to do well and his upcoming run of fixtures are as good as it gets with Leeds (H), Newcastle United (a), Watford (H), and Southampton (H) in the next four.
