<h2 style="text-align: left;">Best FPL Defenders for Gameweek 4</h2>

Marc Cucurella (£5.1m) – Chelsea</strong></h3>
<p><strong>Fixture: Leicester City (H)</strong></p>
<p><strong>Marc Cucurella</strong> has now started the last two games for Chelsea, and looks fairly secure for the short-term at least.</p>
<p>He has three shots in the box and has one assist with an <a href="https://cms.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/a-simple-guide-to-opta-stats-for-fpl/">Expected Assists (xA)</a> of 0.56. He has also been taking some corners, which is very encouraging for his FPL prospects.</p>
<p>Thomas Tuchel has stated that <strong>Ben Chilwell (£5.9m)</strong> still needs to get up to speed with him being out injured for so long.</p>
<p>This makes Cucurella first choice right now in the left wing-back spot. The manager has also said that the Spaniard could play as a left centre-back, so his starting chances look good going forward.</p>
<p>Chelsea have a good fixture this week from both a defensive and attacking perspective. Leicester City actually have the second lowest xG (1.89) in the league right now, and have also conceded the most goals (eight).</p>
<p>The Blues are also at 45% (third) to keep a clean sheet in Gameweek 4. The 3-0 loss to Leeds United last week is worrying, but not enough to put me off their wing-backs. Cucurella has immense attacking threat and I still have confidence in their defence.</p>
<p>He is going to have chances of returns at both ends of the pitch this week for sure.</p>

<h3><strong>Joao Cancelo (£7.0m) – Manchester City</strong></h3>
<p><strong>Fixture: Crystal Palace (H)</strong></p>
<p>After returning in his first two fixtures, <strong>Joao</strong> <strong>Cancelo</strong> registered a zero-pointer last week as Manchester City drew 3-3 with Newcastle United.</p>
<p>I wouldn’t get too worried about City’s defence or Cancelo’s FPL prowess. They will very likely keep the most clean sheets this season, and Cancelo will be among the top scoring defenders.</p>
<p>In Gameweek 4 they have a good opportunity to get their third clean sheet of the season. They come up against Crystal Palace at the Etihad.</p>
<p>Last season<b>,</b> City kept the most clean sheets (21), and conceded the least goals (26) and they already have the third best xGC (2.8) in the first three games despite conceding three goals.</p>
<p>The bookmakers also have the Citizens as the second favourites to keep a clean sheet at 53%.</p>
<p>Joao Cancelo is again one of the best defensive options this week, and will have opportunity for returns at both ends of the pitch.</p>
<p>Our <strong><a href="https://www.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/predictions">Points Prediction Tool</a></strong> ranks him as the fifth highest scoring defender (5.5 points) for Gameweek 4.</p>

<h3><strong>Oleksandr Zinchenko (£5.2m) – Arsenal</strong></h3>
<p><strong>Fixture: Fulham (H)</strong></p>
<p><strong>Oleksandr Zinchenko</strong> has continued playing in a more advanced role on the left. He has the most final third passes (55) from all Arsenal defenders, and has also created the most chances (two).</p>
<p>Arsenal have a good fixture this week for a clean sheet. They have kept two cleans out of three so far, conceding only two goals (second) with an xGC of 2.1 (first).</p>
<p>Fulham have had no troubles scoring so far in their return to the Premier League, but the Gunners have also been a cut above last season.</p>
<p>They kept 13 clean sheets last term, conceding 48 goals (7th) with an xGC of 50 (6th) and I really see them bettering these numbers this year. The addition of <strong>William Saliba (£4.6m)</strong> will really help them improve their backline further.</p>
<p>Also, this is a fixture I believe Zinchenko will have chances of returns at both ends of the pitch. Arsenal have been good both at back and in the final third.</p>
<p>Mikel Arteta’s men are the third favourites to keep a clean sheet in Gameweek 4 at 45%.</p>
<p>Our <a href="https://www.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/predictions"><strong>Points Prediction Tool</strong></a> has him as the sixth highest scoring defender (4.8 points) this week.</p>

<h3><strong>Lewis Dunk (£4.5m) – Brighton</strong></h3>
<p><strong>Fixture: Leeds United (H)</strong></p>
<p><strong>Lewis Dunk</strong> looks to be one of the best budget defenders in FPL this season. He is nailed to start, and has the highest goal threat amongst his defensive teammates.</p>
<p>He didn’t score as many goals last season (one) and this was as a result of a slight positional shift due to Shane Duffy (£4.5m) getting a run in the team.</p>
<p>This meant Dunk was the one staying back, while Duffy was the target of set pieces.</p>
<p>Dunk’s attacking stats improved once Duffy was dropped. Over the last five seasons, the Englishman has 12 goals and five assists.</p>
<p>Brighton also have a very good defence. They only conceded 44 goals (fifth) last season with an expected goals conceded (xGC) of 50.1 (seventh).</p>
<p>The loss of <strong>Marc</strong> <strong>Cucurella</strong> <strong>(£5.0m)</strong> and <strong>Yves Bissouma (£5.0m)</strong> doesn’t seem to have affected them, as they have kept two clean sheets conceding only one goal (first) with an xGC of 2.8 (second).</p>
<p>The Seagulls come up against Leeds United in Gameweek 4, and although they have been good thus far they will find it hard to breakdown this Brighton defence.</p>

<h3><strong>Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.5m) – Liverpool</strong></h3>
<p><strong>Fixture: Bournemouth (H)</strong></p>
<p>The England international hasn’t had the best start to the season, with no clean sheets and no attacking returns in his first three games.</p>
<p>However, I wouldn’t lose faith in one of the best options in the game just yet.</p>
<p>Last season he managed two goals and 12 assists, with an expected goals (xG) of 2.94 and an expected assists of 10.89 (first among defenders). He also has nine goals and 48 assists over the last four seasons so he hasn’t turned into a bad asset overnight.</p>
<p>Liverpool have a plum fixture in Gameweek 4 as they take on Bournemouth at home. This is possibly the best fixture of the season for the Reds from both an attacking and defensive sense, and a game in which Trent could get a huge haul.</p>
<p>Jurgen Klopp’s men are also the clear favourites to keep a clean sheet in Gameweek 4 at 63%. I doubt we will get many probabilities higher than that this season.</p>
<p>Its no surprise that the right-back is the highest predicted scoring defender (7.4 points) in Gameweek 4 according to our <strong><a href="https://www.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/predictions">Points Prediction Tool.</a></strong></p>
