In this article, BigManBakar shares his best FPL Wildcard team for Gameweek 25, aimed at those Fantasy Premier Leagye managers looking to push the button this week.

Best FPL Wildcard Team for Gameweek 25 – Goalkeepers

Aaron Ramsdale (£5.1m)

Ramsdale has been the best goalkeeper in terms of offering value this season and he picks himself on a Wildcard. Arsenal’s fixtures are favourable and they have the possibility of doubling back-to-back in Gameweek 26 and 28.

Ramsdale’s stats.

Robert Sánchez (£4.6m)

Sánchez has a great run of fixtures from Gameweek 25 and provides adequate cover for Ramsdale at a decent price. He has a Double Gameweek in 25 when Ramsdale blanks, and a decent fixture in Gameweek 27 as well when Ramsdale blanks again. The duo have good rotation and play for two defences FPL managers can count on for clean sheets.

Best FPL Wildcard Team for Gameweek 25 – Defenders

Trent Alexander Arnold (£8.5m)

Alexander-Arnold is ranked first in the league among defenders for chances created, big chances created, expected assists (xA) and expected goal involvement (xGi) this season. His ability to contribute at both ends of the field makes him one of the most explosive FPL assets in the game.

This makes him an automatic selection for me.

João Cancelo (£7.2m)

Manchester City are ranked top for xG conceded, big chances conceded, shots conceded and shots in the box conceded this season. They have already kept 13 clean sheets this season.

Cancelo is versatile enough to play on both flanks which adds to his appeal and has been one of Man City’s standout performers this season. Like Alexander-Arnold, he is a non-negotiable on Wildcard for me.

Aymeric Laporte (£5.8m)

The double up on the Man City defence is a good idea. Owning just the single Man City defender isn’t enough when you take into account effective ownership. To actually gain rank, you’d need to own at least two.

No defender has scored more points than Laporte since Gameweek 15 which is basically ever since he has put together a string of starts.

Lucas Digne (£5.1m)

In what we have seen so far, Digne has been given a lot of freedom by Gerrard to provide the width and bomb forward in his preferred 4-2-3-1 formation.

Even historically at Rangers, Gerrard’s left back and right back accumulated 14 and 7 attacking returns in 20/21 from open play respectively.

Coming to the Villa defence, they have kept just three clean sheets in 11 matches under Gerrard so far, but it’s worth noting that they have faced some of the better attacks in the league in Man City, Chelsea, Man United, Liverpool and Leicester during this spell.

Villa have a great run of fixtures and they do not blank in Gameweek 27 or 30 when a lot of other teams in the league have blank Gameweeks. They also have a very slim chance of doubling in Gameweek 27.

Digne’s last three games.

Max Kilman (£4.5m)

Wolves have a Double Gameweek in 26 and also potentially another double in Gameweek 27. They are also one of the rare teams who are not blanking in Gameweek 30. Wolves have a rigid defence as well which makes me think that he could represent good value in the coming weeks.

Jonny is back in training so I’m not so sure how much of a secure starter Ait Nouri will be in the coming weeks, which is why I have opted for Kilman.

Best FPL Wildcard Team for Gameweek 25 – Midfielders

Bruno Fernandes (£11.7m)

Since captaincy for Salah does not come into the equation for Gameweek 25, I would pick Bruno Fernandes over him on a Wildcard. Bruno is a candidate for captaincy with his Double Gameweek in 25. What is worth noting in this draft is that I have given myself enough funds in the bank to be able to swap Bruno to Salah for free in Gameweek 26.

Jacob Ramsey (£4.7m)

No Villa player has had more big chance involvements than Ramsey since Gerrard has taken over (Six to Watkins’ four). He’s playing as the most advanced of the midfield three and making late runs into the box like his manager in his prime.

There are a lot of things to like about Ramsey. He’s extremely cheap so allows for significant upgrades in your squad elsewhere. Secondly, Villa have a great run of fixtures. Thirdly, Villa do not blank in Gameweek 27 or 30 when a lot of other teams in the league have Blank Gameweeks. They also have a very slim chance of doubling in Gameweek 27.

Bukayo Saka (£6.4m)

Arsenal’s upcoming favourable Double Gameweek in 26 and the high possibility of another double in 28 is the reason I have opted for Saka as I believe he could offer a potentially high upside. Saka has the highest expected goal involvement (xGi) among all Arsenal players this season.

Diogo Jota (£8.5m)

Jota is in the form of his life and has been scoring goals for fun lately. At £8.5m, he’s a steal even if you take into account the slight likelihood of rotation with Mane, Firmino and Diaz all being available in the coming weeks. He’s only behind Salah for xG in the league this season.

Jarrod Bowen (£6.9m)

No player in the league has scored more FPL points than Bowen over the last six Gameweeks. He is averaging approximately 10 FPL points per game. Need I say more?

Best FPL Wildcard Team for Gameweek 25 – Forwards

Cristiano Ronaldo (£12.5m)

His recent form hasn’t been the greatest but I’d pick Ronaldo in my Wildcard team.

Despite Rangnick’s underwhelming start at Man United, Ronaldo is still ranked second for xG per 90 among forwards (only behind Kane) since the German has taken over.

The fact that he was rested against Burnley makes me more confident for the Double Gameweek as common sense would suggest that he starts the next two before resting against Leeds in Gameweek 26 which precedes the all-important Champions League fixture.

Wout Weghorst (£6.5m)

Weghorst is a bit of an unknown commodity when it comes to the Premier League at the moment but his goal scoring record in Germany has been prolific. He is known to be a bit of a poacher and had an impressive average xG of 0.5 per game in the time when he was playing in Germany.

He’s a nailed starter and could possibly be on penalties. With the lack of forwards firing at the moment, Weghorst might be worth the punt just for the sheer reason alone that Burnley have back to back Double Gameweeks coming up in 26 and 27, so he is guaranteed to play more minutes than his counterparts.

Armando Broja (£5.2m)

Broja is one of the select few forwards in form at the moment. Southampton’s fixtures are turning soon and Broja is extremely cheap so presents excellent value. There’s also the possibility that Broja plays in Gameweek 30 when most teams in the league are guaranteed to blank.
