<p>In this article, <a href="https://twitter.com/BigManBakar">BigManBakar</a> shares his best FPL <a href="https://cms.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/what-is-the-fantasy-premier-league-wildcard-and-when-to-use-it/">Wildcard</a> team for Gameweek 35, aimed at those Fantasy Premier League managers looking to push the button this week.</p>

<h2>Best FPL Wildcard Team for Gameweek 35 &#8211; Goalkeepers</h2>
<h3>Kasper Schmeichel (£4.9m)</h3>
<p>Schmeichel is the only Leicester asset who appeals to me at the moment – I don’t rate the Leicester defence that highly, but they do have two back-to-back double Gameweeks in 36 and 37.  Schmeichel is also the most secure player in terms of security of starts in the entire Leicester team, and makes quite a few saves which makes him likely to haul whenever Leicester are to keep a clean sheet.</p>
<h3 class="ElementDialog__ElementHeading-gmefnd-2 llwlWO">Ben Foster (£4.1m)</h3>
<p>Foster is selected as he&#8217;s the cheapest first choice keeper available in FPL at the moment. He provides a cheap Bench Boost option in Gameweek 36 if need be.</p>

<h2>Best FPL Wildcard Team for Gameweek 35 &#8211; Defenders</h2>
<h3>Trent Alexander Arnold (£8.4m)</h3>
<p>Trent is the first name on my Wildcard draft. The defender with the best xGi per 90 this season, playing for one of the best defences in the league, fighting for the title. Non-negotiable.</p>
<h3 class="qrShPb kno-ecr-pt PZPZlf mfMhoc" data-local-attribute="d3bn" data-attrid="title" data-ved="2ahUKEwiXp8GC7abzAhUzA2MBHcezAHEQ3B0oAXoECF8QCw">Andy Robertson (£7.3m)</h3>
<p>Since Robertson registered his first double digit haul of the season in Gameweek 13, he&#8217;s ranked first for big chance involvements and is only behind Trent for xGi among defenders. He&#8217;s averaging 7.9 FPL points per game ever since! With Liverpool fighting for the title and having it all to play for in the league, Robertson is a highly explosive asset to own.</p>
<h3>Joao Cancelo (£7.1m)</h3>
<p>The defender with the highest number of shots in the league, playing for the defence which has the best xG conceded in the league. No brainer!</p>
<h3>Aymeric Laporte (£6.0m)</h3>
<p>Manchester City are ranked top for xG conceded, big chances conceded, shots conceded and shots in the box conceded this season. They have already kept 19 clean sheets this term – which is a league leading total.</p>
<p>I like the idea of doubling up on the Man City defence because Joao Cancelo is owned by the significant majority of “serious” FPL managers anyway, so this is where you can actually gain from Man City’s defence doing well when it comes to effective ownership.</p>
<p>Man City have a packed schedule in the coming weeks but with so much to play for in the league, it’s hard to imagine that Laporte will be rotated. He has started 28 of the 30 matches he has been available for this season so is as nailed as they come in the Man City defence. His goal threat is under-rated as well – he’s top among defenders for shots in the box and xG this calendar year.</p>
<p>The only caveat I’d like to mention here is that opting for Cancelo and Laporte means that you will probably have to forego the option of choosing both Phil Foden and Kevin De Bruyne should you want to go there later.</p>
<h3>Matthew Cash (£5.2m)</h3>
<p>What brings Cash to the menu is the fact that Villa have five games in the next three Gameweeks. Successive doubles in 36 and 37 mean that Cash is a shrewd pick &#8211; especially for those FPL managers without a Free Hit left.</p>
<p>Cash has already recorded five attacking returns under Gerrard, and is fourth for penalty area touches since the new Villa boss took over. Despite a lack of returns in recent times, Cash has recorded two big chances and four shots on target over the past six matches. The fixture against Norwich should suit Villa as well &#8211; Norwich have conceded the second highest number of chances down their left flank in the league in 2022.</p>
<p>At this point, it is also worth highlighting that Villa have been significantly underperforming on their expected goals conceded tally as well. Over the past five matches, they have conceded nine goals despite the fact that only Liverpool and Man City have a better xG conceded than them in this spell.</p>

<h2>Best FPL Wildcard Team for Gameweek 35 &#8211; Midfielders</h2>

<p>Should there even be a debate?</p>
<h3 data-local-attribute="d3bn" data-attrid="title" data-ved="2ahUKEwiw25uX7abzAhUaCGMBHVCiDHIQ3B0oAXoECFwQCw">Bukayo Saka (£6.8m)</h3>
<p>Saka has the best xGi among all Arsenal players this season, and remains the standout Arsenal attacker to own. In the absence of Lacazette and Pepe, he&#8217;s also on penalties as well.</p>
<h3>Philippe Coutinho (£7.0m)</h3>
<p>Villa are underperforming on their xG in recent times. Over the past five matches, Villa have scored just twice despite registering a xG of nearly 7. I&#8217;d also like to take the opportunity to highlight the difference in Coutinho&#8217;s performances home and away since he joined Villa:</p>

<p><em>Big chance involvements: 1.67 v 0.00</em></p>
<p><em>xGi: 1.00 v 0.30</em></p>
<p><em>FPL points per game: 8.56 v 3.95</em></p>
<p>The difference is as clear as night and day. Four of the next five games are at home now, which should bode well for him. It&#8217;s also worth noting that Coutinho&#8217;s underlying <a href="https://cms.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/opta/" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c="1" title="FPL Stats by OPTA - Player and Team Stats">stats</a> against the bottom ten in the league have been much better as compared to this numbers against the top ten sides this season &#8211; so it wouldn&#8217;t be wrong to call him a flat track bully on the basis of the evidence we have so far. The fixtures coming up should give him even more of an opportunity to stat-pad.</p>
<h3 data-local-attribute="d3bn" data-attrid="title" data-ved="2ahUKEwiw25uX7abzAhUaCGMBHVCiDHIQ3B0oAXoECFwQCw">Heung-Min Son (£11.0m)</h3>
<p>Despite a run of successive blanks over the past couple of Gameweeks, we shouldn&#8217;t forget that Spurs are only behind Man City and Liverpool when it comes to xG non-penalty since Conte took over. Son is completely nailed to start with Spurs having all to play for in the league.</p>
<p>Their fixture run is favourable as well and includes a double Gameweek in 36. Leicester are highly likely to rotate as a result of their European commitments which makes Son a captaincy shout in Gameweek 35 as well. No team has conceded more headed attempts than Leicester this season &#8211; and they are also ranked second for set pieces conceded, which increases Son&#8217;s assist potential.</p>
<h3>Anthony Gordon (£4.6m)</h3>
<p>Gordon is second only to Richarlison for xG and xGi since Lampard took over at Everton. With so much at stake for Everton, and back-to-back doubles in Gameweek 36 and 37, Gordon should have a role to play in the remainder of the season.</p>

<h2>Best FPL Wildcard Team for Gameweek 35 &#8211; Forwards</h2>
<h3 data-local-attribute="d3bn" data-attrid="title" data-ved="2ahUKEwiw25uX7abzAhUaCGMBHVCiDHIQ3B0oAXoECFwQCw">Ollie Watkins (£7.4m)</h3>
<p>With a home fixture followed by back to back doubles, Watkins is too good to pass up this week with so little time left in the season. He&#8217;s top among Villa players for expected goal involvement (xGi) over the past six matches, and should be on penalties as Danny Ings is out of favour.</p>
<h3 class="ElementDialog__ElementHeading-gmefnd-2 llwlWO">Eddie Nketiah (£5.5m)</h3>
<blockquote><p><em>“If there is one player that I have been unfair with, I think it is him. He has given me every right to do something different, so if Eddie hasn’t played more, it’s my fault and because as a manager I have missed something or I haven’t had the courage to play him more, and today he showed me again how wrong I was.”</em></p></blockquote>
<p>These quotes by Arteta on Nketiah suggest that he will give him more playing time in the weeks to come, on the back of his impressive performances against Chelsea and Man United. I believe that he has done enough to start, and with the lack of budget strikers who appeal at the moment, I think Nketiah is worth the risk.</p>
<p>He plays West Ham this week, and with the Hammers busy in Europe I&#8217;m expecting mass rotation from them, as they have nothing to play for in the league. It&#8217;s worth noting that West Ham will be without any fit first team centre-backs as well, because their squad has been severely depleted by injuries.</p>
<p>Further, West Ham are second for chances conceded down the centre in the past six matches, which also bodes well for Nketiah. The bookmakers have given Nketiah a very healthy 44% chance of scoring this week.</p>
<p>What I like about Nketiah is that he&#8217;s a low-risk punt because of his price. He allows for significant upgrades elsewhere in your squad. I also low-key think that Nketiah could be a pick for the remainder of the season if he continues to impress in his starts. In Gameweek 36, he has a double gameweek which includes a fixture against Leeds. Newcastle and Everton in Gameweek 37 and 38 are good fixtures as well, which makes Nketiah a solid pick for the run in.</p>
<h3 class="ElementDialog__ElementHeading-gmefnd-2 llwlWO">Joe Gelhardt (£4.6m)</h3>
<p>Gelhardt is the cheapest of the forwards who has any realistic chance of starting.</p>
