<h2><strong>Best Defenders for FPL Gameweek 3</strong></h2>
<h3><strong>Rico Lewis (£4.5m) – Manchester City</strong></h3>
<p><strong>Fixture: West Ham (A)</strong></p>
<p>Manchester City don't have the easiest game for a clean sheet in Gameweek 3, but relative to the rest of the field they are among the favourites.</p>
<p>Rico Lewis started for the second consecutive game, and I think he will start this one seeing as <strong>Kyle Walker (£5.5m)</strong> was rooted to the bench again.</p>
<p>Pep Guardiola's team are the second favourites to keep a clean sheet (40%) in Gameweek 3. West Ham will do well to score against them.</p>
<p>Lewis was very unfortunate not to score, and seems to be thriving in his new inverted midfield role where he is constantly playing higher up the pitch.</p>
<p>The 19-year-old is looking like an absolute steal at the moment and he may well keep Walker out of the team, unless Pep can find a way to fit them both in.</p>

<h3><strong>Gabriel (£6.0m) – Arsenal</strong></h3>
<p><strong>Fixture: Brentford (H)</strong></p>
<p>Arsenal have kept clean sheets in their opening two fixtures.</p>
<p>They were very fortunate to keep one against Aston Villa last gameweek but there is no doubt they are the best defence in the league.</p>
<p>The Gunners have another decent fixture to keep a clean sheet in as they come against Brighton (H).</p>
<p>The Seagulls have really impressed in the first two games, and this not an easy game on paper but Arsenal's defensive numbers are a cut above the rest.</p>
<p>It's no surprise that they are the favourites to keep a clean sheet (50%) for Gameweek 3.</p>
<p>Gabriel also has plenty of attacking threat, and has registered the highest xG among defenders in the previous two seasons.</p>
<p>I have no doubt that Arsenal will finish with the best defensive record again this season.</p>

<h3><strong>Ezri Konsa (£4.5m) – Aston Villa</strong></h3>
<p><strong>Fixture: Leicester City (a)</strong></p>
<p>Konsa is another good value £4.5m. Aston Villa were in the top six for goals conceded last season and kept the fifth most clean sheets (eight).</p>
<p>He is nailed to start in defence and has a nice fixture in Gameweek 3 as Villa take on Leicester City.</p>
<p>Unai Emery won't get many better fixtures this season, and will have a good chance of keeping a clean sheet and getting three points.</p>
<p>They are the third favourites to keep a clean sheet (38%) and Konsa does have six goals in his previous five seasons so can pop up with a goal here and there.</p>
<p>His attacking threat isn't the best compared to other defenders, but he is nailed to start and has a plum fixture.</p>

<h3><strong>Ethan Pinnock (£4.5m) – Brentford</strong></h3>
<p><strong>Fixture: Southampton (H)</strong></p>
<p>Brentford have one of their best fixtures of the season as they welcome Southampton to the G-tec stadium.</p>
<p>The Saints have failed to score in their opening two fixtures, despite being a man up in Gameweek 1 against Newcastle for most of the game.</p>
<p>The Bees were the sixth best expected goals conceded (xGC) of 55.7 last season and are a good defensive side.</p>
<p>They are the joint third favourites to keep a clean (38%) next gameweek and Ethan Pinnock looks like their best defender.</p>
<p>He is nailed to start and has six goals in his last three seasons so can profit and both ends of the pitch here.</p>
<p>Brentford won't get many better games this season to keep a shut out.</p>

<p><strong>Fixture: Crystal Palace (H)</strong></p>
<p>Chelsea welcome Crystal Palace to Stamford Bridge in Gameweek 3, who haven't had the best start to the season.</p>
<p>Although this isn't an easy fixture for the Blues they are at home and will be favourites to win.</p>
<p>Gameweek 3 isn't the best week for clean sheet prospects but I wouldn't be surprised if Chelsea keep one here with the form Palace are in.</p>
<p>Levi Colwill is the most nailed defender for them and should start again at the weekend.</p>
<p>They are the fourth favourites to keep a clean sheet (36%) in Gameweek 3.</p>
