<p>Forest striker <strong>Taiwo Awoniyi (£6.0m)</strong> was absent in Nottingham Forest&#8217;s latest pre-season game following a recurring groin injury, and in his absence Chris Wood is the man primed to step into the void.</p>
<p>Wood scored the opening goal in a 2-1 win for Forest, and while it&#8217;s worth keeping an eye on the situation with Awoniyi, the striker spot certainly belongs to Wood for now.</p>

<p>Although his minutes were limited last season, the New Zealand international produced 14 goals in just 20 Premier League starts.</p>
<p>From an attacking sense, the opening fixtures are strong enough to justify his inclusion, and it&#8217;s a straight swap to Awoniyi at the same price point if pre-season suggests he is the better option.</p>

<h2>Best Nottingham Forest FPL players: Callum Hudson-Odoi (£5.5m)</h2>
<p>Hudson-Odoi offers one of the most useful options at his price point, and he could provide great value, particularly given Forest&#8217;s early fixtures.</p>
<p>The former Chelsea man scored the second goal in Forest&#8217;s 2-1 pre-season victory over Millwall, and he looks to be carrying his good form over from last season.</p>
<p>He managed 10 goal contributions in 20 starts last season, and only Wood produced more shots on target per 90 among Forest players.</p>

<p>With a trip to newly promoted Southampton either side of home games against Bournemouth and Wolves to open the season, those in need of a budget midfielder could be in luck.</p>
<p>His Gameweek 1 opponents Bournemouth conceded a greater number of chances down their right flank last season, with a handful of players filling in at right-back, so if this trend carries over into the new campaign Hudson-Odoi could exploit it on the opening weekend.</p>

<p><strong>Morgan Gibbs-White (£6.0m) </strong>was the key man for Forest last season, with 17 goal contributions (5 goals and 12 assists).</p>
<p>Gibbs-White was Forest&#8217;s top scorer in FPL too with 142 points, just as he was the season before.</p>
