<h3><strong>Alphonse Areola (£4.3m)</strong></h3>
<p>Areola's presence as number one for West Ham in every Premier League game this season has solidified his position as one of the most popular goalkeeper options in FPL.</p>
<p>While he may not have met fantasy expectations, the lack of other goalkeepers makes him a compelling case for selection and reduces the justification for investing in a high-priced replacement.</p>
<h3><strong>Martin Dubravka (£3.9m)</strong></h3>
<p>Dubravka is an absolute gift for his price.</p>
<p>Newcastle are one of the best defences in the league. In fact, they are only behind Manchester City and Arsenal for non-penalty expected goals conceded this season.</p>
<p>Their fixtures, particularly from Gameweek 17, are exceptional and with news of <strong>Nick Pope's (£5.5m)</strong> likely long-term injury, Dubravka becomes an immediate hit on the fantasy menu.</p>
<p>There are rumours doing the rounds of David De Gea possibly joining but at the moment it is just speculation.</p>
<p>This should be Dubravka's spot to lose, at least until January.</p>

<h3><strong>Reece James (£5.4m)</strong></h3>
<p>With Chelsea's upcoming fixtures, having at least one defender is a sensible call.</p>
<p>I have opted for James as he has the highest ceiling among them all.</p>
<p>I'm aware that he hasn't played regularly this season and will always remain at risk of picking up an injury but there are very few high-upside options, apart from <strong>Pedro Porro (£5.3m)</strong>, that I like. That makes him worth the risk, especially from Gameweek 16 onwards.</p>
<h3><strong>Gabriel (£4.9m)</strong></h3>
<p>The Arsenal defence is ranked first for non-penalty expected goals conceded his season.</p>
<p>Even though Gabriel's playing time is not guaranteed like <strong>William Saliba's (£5.5m)</strong>, I am inclined to believe that he should be a regular starter in the majority of Arsenal's upcoming matches, making him a valuable pick considering his price.</p>
<p>He could end up being a long-term hold.</p>
<h3 class="styles__ElementHeading-ahs9zc-5 haxmIv"><strong>Pedro Porro (£5.3m)</strong></h3>
<p>Looking forward, the pool of preferred defenders seems limited but Porro shines as one of the standout choices.</p>
<p>Nailed-on in the Tottenham Hotspur starting lineup, highly attacking, and supported by strong underlying data, he is poised for a beneficial stretch of upcoming fixtures.</p>
<p>When comparing Porro to other defenders, he ranks just below <strong>Kieran Trippier (£7.0m)</strong> and <strong>Matty Cash (£5.0m)</strong> for expected goal involvement (xGI) this season, enhancing his appeal as a viable choice.</p>
<p>A significant advantage is Porro's responsibility for set-pieces in the absence of <strong>James Maddison (£7.9m)</strong>.</p>
<p>This not only increases his attacking potential but also accelerates his accumulation of bonus points.</p>

<h3><strong>Levi Colwill (£4.5m)</strong></h3>
<p>Chelsea's upcoming run of fixtures is so good that I've doubled up on the Chelsea defence.</p>
<p>Colwill was superb against Brighton at the weekend and has probably done enough to stake a claim for the starting position ahead of <strong>Marc Cucurella (£4.8m)</strong>.</p>
<h3><strong>Charlie Taylor (£4.0m)</strong></h3>
<p>Taylor is available at a budget-friendly price, making him an solid defensive option.</p>
<p>Furthermore, there is a favorable fixture for Taylor against Fulham in Gameweek 18, which becomes significant when City and Brentford have blank fixtures, potentially requiring bench strength.</p>
