<p>As the penultimate weekend of Fantasy Premier League approaches, Double Gameweek 37 represents a high risk vs reward opportunity as managers seek to deploy their final “chips”. An unfashionable “double” on paper see the following teams play twice: Aston Villa, Everton, Crystal Palace, Leicester and Burnley.</p>
<p>Favourable fixtures for single-gameweek sides such as Spurs, Liverpool and Manchester City present a perilous scenario for those committing to the “double” with a strong hand.  Approximately 43% of top 10k managers hold their second Free Hit chip and how they commit will be entirely situational.</p>
<p>Those happy with their current rank may consolidate with a balance of high ownership threats and a sprinkling of differentials. Those chasing should push “all-in” with the average top 10k manager owning just 3 players that “double” before transfers.</p>
<p><strong>Richarlison (£7.6m)</strong>, <strong>Anthony Gordon (£4.7m)</strong>, and <strong>Kasper Schmeichel (£5.0m) </strong>represent the highest owned players amongst the top 10k elite.</p>

<p>Steven Gerrard’s Villa sits safely 12th in the Premier League and favourable recent fixtures have seen a revival in fortunes. In terms of attack, Aston Villa ranks third-best for shots on target (33) and big chances received (14).</p>
<p>Defensively, Villa ranks fifth-best for shots in the box conceded (40) and joint sixth-best for big chances conceded (7). In terms of expected data, Villa ranks fifth-best for minutes per expected goals (52.3) and seventh-best for minutes per expected goals conceded (74.7)</p>
<p>Aston Villa assets come into focus ahead of a plum home double-header with the Villains hosting Crystal Palace and Burnley. Villa ranks first on Hub’s overall fixture ticker for Double Gameweek 37 but face Manchester City away in Gameweek 38.</p>

<h2>Opposition Data: Breaking The FPL Template Double Gameweek 37</h2>
<p>Patrick Vieira’s Crystal Palace sit a highly respectable 11th and the Frenchman has silenced the naysayers in his debut managerial season. The Eagles have won three of their last six, recording three clean sheets and failing to score just twice.</p>
<p>In terms of attack, Palace ranked fifth-best for shots on target (29) and seventh-best for minutes per expected goals (54.8) over the last six. Defensively, Palace ranked third-best for shots on target conceded (16) and best for big chances conceded (2) over the period.</p>
<p>Impressively, Palace ranks second-best for minutes per expected goals conceded (107.4) over the last six, bettered by only Manchester City. Relegation-threatened Burnley has shown guts recording three wins in their last six, failing to score just once.</p>
<p>However, Villa will approach this fixture with confidence having beaten Burnley in a convincing 3-1 victory in Double Gameweek 36. Burnley ranks seventh-best for minutes per expected goals (58.6) over the last six and have demonstrated weakness to crosses.</p>
<p>The Clarets rank third-worst for crosses conceded from their left flank (71) and fifth-worst from crosses conceded from their right flank (61). In terms of attack, Burnley ranks fifth-best for shots in the box (61) and third-best for attempts from set-plays (35).</p>
<p>Surprisingly, Burnley ranks second-best for minutes per expected goals (48.3) to only attacking powerhouse Manchester City. However, context is everything – the Clarets have faced Watford, Southampton, Norwich and Wolves over the last six.</p>

<h2>Defence: Breaking The FPL Template Double Gameweek 37</h2>
<p>A popular question for FPL managers will be which Villa full-back to pick – <strong>Matt Cash (£5.3m)</strong> or <strong>Lucas Digne (£5.0m)</strong>? Despite fewer minutes over the last six, Digne betters Cash for chances created (12 v 3) and crosses (31 v 12).</p>
<p>Matt Cash has a considerable edge in terms of goal threat, bettering Digne for shots (7 v 1), shots in the box (5 v 1), and shots on target (5 v 0). <strong>Emiliano Martinez (£5.5m)</strong> has failed to replicate the FPL heights of his debut Villa season with drop off in both saves and bonus points.</p>
<p>In terms of team average shots on target over the season, Crystal Palace (3.86) and Burnley (3.26) do not scream save points for Martinez.</p>

<p>Returns against Norwich and Burnley bring <strong>Danny Ings (£7.7m)</strong> into focus and the former Liverpool marksman boats some <a href="https://cms.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/opta/">solid underlying numbers</a>. Ings ranks first among forwards for big chances (6) and sixth for shots in the box (15) over the last six.</p>
<p><strong>Ollie Watkins (£7.5m)</strong> represents an injury doubt following his late Liverpool withdrawal and FPL managers wait with bated breath on Steven Gerrard’s Friday press conference. Watkins ranks among forwards joint-first for shots in the box (19) and demonstrates multiple routes to points through his creativity.</p>
<p>The former Brentford sharpshooter ranks among forwards fifth for chances created (8) and big chances created (2) over the period. Watkins betters Ings for expected goals (3.31 v 2.68), expected assists (0.99 v 0.32), and expected goal involvement (4.3 v 3.0).</p>
<p>A hero of Double Gameweek 28, <strong>Phillipe Coutinho (£7.1m)</strong> has endured a lean spell since and with recent minutes concerning. Coutinho ranks third among Villa colleagues for shots (11) but worryingly only three have come from inside the box.</p>
<p>The Brazilian ranks third among his Villa counterparts for chances created (9) and a worrying seventh for expected goal involvement (1.06) over the last six.</p>

<h2>Conclusion: Breaking The FPL Template Double Gameweek 37</h2>
<p>While on paper <strong>Ollie Watkins</strong> is the superior stat-based pick his currently uncertain injury status makes <strong>Danny Ings</strong> my number one pick. Ings represents an under differential who will benefit from the absence of Watkins by assuming spot-kick duties.</p>
<p>My second selection is <strong>Lucas Digne</strong> who has the advantage over <strong>Matt Cash</strong> in terms of set-pieces, chance creation, and crossing. However, Polish international Cash is my third Villa selection due to a preference for Villa assets over doubling in the attack.</p>
<p>Cash has the high-ceiling edge over <strong>Emiliano Martinez</strong> with the Argentinian a pale shadow of his heroic best from last season. Furthermore, the marauding full-back represents a goal-threat capable of high-ceiling hauls as we have seen earlier this season.</p>
