<h2><strong>Champions League Fantasy Matchday 1: Review</strong></h2>
<p>It was an average week for me, finishing on 94 points for an overall rank of 209k.</p>
<p>Usually, I’d be very pleased with a points total close to 100 however with so many big scores in Matchday 1, I am starting slightly behind the pack.</p>
<p>It is nice to see the UCL Fantasy game growing, with more invested managers.</p>
<p>Looking back, I took a few risks that didn’t work out, including <strong>Nathan Ake (<em>€</em>4.5m)</strong>, and I fell on the wrong side of my 50/50 calls such as going with Atletico Madrid’s <strong>Reinildo (€4.5m)</strong> over Benfica’s <strong>Nicolas Otamendi (€4.5m)</strong>. As a Real Madrid fan, this one hurt.</p>
<p>I also did not have the hero of Matchday 1 <strong>Alejandro Grimaldo (€4.5m) - </strong>another Benfica man - who scored a massive 20 points.</p>
<p>I followed my own advice and held <strong>Erling Haaland (<em>€</em>11.0m) </strong>as my captain.</p>
<p>I don’t think this was the wrong decision, as he finished on 10 points, however most of the managers who didn’t have him swapped captaincy to<strong> Robert Lewandowski (<em>€</em>11.0m) </strong>and were rewarded for the Polish striker's 18 point haul.</p>
<p>I am happy I still had the Barcelona marksman, however his captaincy numbers impacted my rank.</p>

<h2><strong>Champions League Fantasy Matchday 2: Team reveal </strong></h2>
<p>Looking at my team heading into Matchday 2, I am not in a favourable position.</p>
<p>I have a few injury doubts and many of my players do not have strong fixtures, so I will be playing a chip on Matchday 2.</p>
<p>The question, however, is which one?</p>
<p>I think there is a case for both chips to be played in Matchday 2 depending on your team structure.</p>
<p>Wildcard is appealing because managers are able to target Matchday 2 fixtures and catch all of the price rises that will occur after Matchday 2.</p>
<p>This will help for team budget moving forward. The downfall however is if you plan on a Limitless Wildcard in Matchday 3 or 4, the Wildcard team in Matchday 2 needs to have future thinking in mind.</p>
<p>Limitless Wildcard is appealing because, well, when is it not? You get to pick the best players, from the top teams, with unlimited budget.</p>
<p>What’s not to like? In my opinion, this chip comes down to timing.</p>
<p>The only downfall I see with Limitless Wildcard in Matchday 2 is the days the fixtures fall.</p>
<p>Ideally, you want the best fixtures to be on Tuesday with the ability to make substitutes on Wednesday.</p>
<p>The way the Matchday 2 fixtures have fallen, managers will be looking to target Paris Saint Germain and Manchester City, who both play in the late games on Wednesday.</p>
<p>I put up a poll on Twitter late last week and most managers who responded are leaning towards a Limitless Wildcard and as of now, I am 95% sure I will be playing the chip.</p>
<p>Something to keep in mind, for my team anyway, playing Limitless Wildcard means I will 100% Wildcard in Matchday 3.</p>
