<p>Double Gameweek 7 is over and Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers are busy making transfers &#8211; but who were the biggest under-performers of the week and who scored more points than they should have?</p>
<p>Every season, we see the biggest haulers of the previous gameweek brought into hundreds of thousands of teams.</p>
<p>But the secret to success in FPL is to jump on players who are about to score more points &#8211; not chasing points.</p>
<p>So with this in mind, we&#8217;re taking a look at the expected points for FPL Gameweek 8 and highlighting those who were fortunate to score well &#8211; and who perhaps could have netted a haul themselves. We&#8217;ll also examine an early list of the most popular transfers in and out.</p>

<h2>Transfer bandwagons and knee-jerks</h2>
<p><strong>Ollie Watkins (£8.0m) </strong>tops the most-wanted list, with more than 550,000 managers bringing him in ahead of Gameweek 8.</p>
<p>The Aston Villa man scored a hat-trick and assisted two on his way to 23 points.</p>
<p><strong>Son Heung-min (£9.3m) </strong>scored his sixth goal of the season against Liverpool and with Luton up next, he&#8217;s nearly kept pace with Watkins for FPL popularity.</p>
<p><strong>Matty Cash (£4.9m)</strong>, who grabbed an assist in Villa&#8217;s 6-1 demolition of Brighton takes third spot &#8211; all three are likely to prove popular with those playing their Wildcards this week, as well as the rest of the FPL community.</p>

<p><strong>Marcus Rashford (£8.8m) </strong>has lost the faith of more than 300,000 managers after a third blank in a row.</p>
<p>He&#8217;s marginally ahead of <strong>Pervis Estupinan (£5.3m)</strong>, who was hauled off at half-time for Brighton after scoring an own-goal.</p>
<p>News of a long-term injury to <strong>Ben Chilwell (£5.5m) </strong>means he is another popular sell, while <strong>Bukayo Saka (£8.6m) </strong>could decline further in ownership thanks to another injury worry, picked up in the Champions League on Tuesday.</p>

<p>A huge haul from Watkins represented an over-performance of 16 points.</p>
<p>It has seen him accumulate the biggest difference between his expected and actual points so far this season of 22.1.</p>
<p>Watkins managed five goal involvements in Gameweek 7 &#8211; way ahead of his expected goal involvement (xGI) of 1.0.</p>
<p>It was a fine display of finishing from the Villa talisman &#8211; and it was his assists more than his goals that were fortuitous.</p>
<p>He recorded an xA of 0.17, with assists coming from a curling <strong>Jacob Ramsey (£5.9m) </strong>shot from the edge of the box and <strong>Douglas Luiz (£5.4m) </strong>profiting from a rebounded shot.</p>
<p>Villa have the strongest fixtures in the league over the next five weeks, according to our <a href="https://www.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/fixture-ticker">fixture ticker</a>, so Watkins should have plenty of opportunities to rack up more FPL points. Such huge hauls should not however be expected every week.</p>
<p><strong>Joachim Andersen (£4.8m) </strong>ranks second on both the Gameweek 7 and season-long over-performance lists.</p>
<p>The Crystal Palace centre-back is the highest-scoring defender in the game, having netted two goals alongside his three clean sheets.</p>
<p>He will cost buyers £0.3m more than central defensive partner <strong>Marc Guehi (£4.5m) </strong>but has recorded higher attacking threat, with 0.71 xG to Guehi&#8217;s 0.15.</p>
<p>It is his goals and nine bonus points that have accounted for the majority of his over-performance of 16.6 points.</p>
<p>Those looking to invest in the Palace defence would be justified to look at Andersen as a first priority, although Guehi should provide an acceptable alternative if budget is a factor.</p>

<p><strong>Julian Alvarez (£7.0m) </strong>and Son join Watkins and Alvarez in being the top over-performers for the season so far.</p>
<p>Alvarez scored a free-kick this week to widen the gap between his expected and actual points.</p>

<p><strong>Ruben Dias (£5.5m) </strong>finished the gameweek on -1 after being credited with an own-goal against Wolves &#8211; the same issue that saw Estupinan under-perform.</p>
<p>Manchester City conceded twice against Wolves, despite the latter having only one shot on target. <strong>Pedro Neto&#8217;s (£5.6m) </strong>off-target shot was deflected in off Dias.</p>
<p>But it was a failure to score and assist that saw <strong>James Garner (£4.9m) </strong>make second place. He posted an xG of 0.75 and xA of 0.88 in Everton&#8217;s 2-1 defeat to Luton.</p>
<p>The former Manchester United central midfielder has largely been playing on the right for the Toffees but hit the bar with a close-range header and missed another good chance after being played through by <strong>Abdoulaye Doucoure (£5.5m)</strong>.</p>
<p>Garner has one assist this season from an xA of 1.56 &#8211; but much of his 0.87 xG came in the Luton game.</p>
<p><strong>Alexander Isak (£7.5m) </strong>scored a goal from the penalty spot but had three big chances in Newcastle&#8217;s 2-0 win over Burnley.</p>
<p>The Swede had the best xG of the week and the second best non-penalty xG.</p>
<p>He could be a short-term option with <strong>Callum Wilson (£7.8m) </strong>having been suffering with a minor hamstring problem, however Watkins&#8217; better fixture run explains him being the preferred transfer in this week.</p>

<h3>Under-performers: Season so far</h3>
<p><strong>Enzo Fernandez (£4.9m) </strong>and <strong>Nicolas Jackson (£6.9m)</strong> of Chelsea top the list of season-long under-performers.</p>
<p>Bar Gameweek 6, when Jackson was top, Fernandez has been the biggest under-performer since Gameweek 2.</p>
<p>A missed penalty accounts for a chunk of that, however the Argentine has a non-penalty xG of 1.17 and xA of 1.45 with no attacking returns to show for it.</p>
<p>He comes in at the same price as <strong>Cole Palmer (£4.9m)</strong> and those seeking a budget midfielder on Wildcard could look to Fernandez in the hope he begins to close the expected points gap.</p>
<p>Chelsea do however have a difficult run of fixtures coming up, with Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City coming up.</p>
<p><strong>Carney Chukwuemeka (£4.3m) </strong>is approaching a return from injury too and at £0.6m cheaper could provide better cover as bench fodder.</p>
