FPL may not be a complex game, but it&#8217;s not easy to finish in the top 1% year after year. So what is it that makes a select few managers finish in the top 1% every season? What are the tips and resources they use every week that ensure they win their mini-leagues?
This is not a guide on how to play FPL, you can find that on the Official FPL site. Rather, this is the unveiling of a select few secrets and strategies to consistently score high and dominate your mini-leagues.
1. Become a master trader
There are three things to consider on this, take each on board to truly gain an edge on the rest of the market.

<li>Spreading the funds. Everyone starts the game with the same £100m budget, but the way you allocate and build these funds is what separates the good managers from the great ones.This year, there’s a dearth of decent options for cheap keepers &amp; opting for a ‘set and forget’ pairing of £4.5m and £4.0 here allows for reinvestment further upfield. In defence there are a large number of very attractive £4.5-5.0 defenders you can pack your backline with, allowing for the bulk of your money to be invested on the huge variety of midfield and striker options from the big hitter teams. </li>
<li>Bench fodder. Ensure you don’t have money wasted on assets warming your bench every week. For busier periods such as around Christmas, having at least one or two stronger options on the bench who can come in and do a job is recommended, but you need to ensure these players are not accounting for too much of your overall budget.</li>
<li>Find the enablers. One way of catapulting your team to the top of the rankings is unearthing those rare gems of a player who cost under £6m but score strongly week in week out. Dempsey, Michu, Wan Bissaka, Lord Lundstram himself &#8211; all were legendary ‘enablers’ at one time or another and the top FPL managers jumped on these early before their price rocketed.</li>

7. Reading the fixtures
Identify favourable fixture runs early and pick players who can capitalise on it. Second thing to consider with fixtures: home and away games. Whilst the absence of fans is lessening this impact somewhat, monitor where your team is playing: certain players have a tendency to score better at home (Salah), whilst others do better away (Mane).
