Highly owned Fantasy Premier League (FPL) forward Chris Wood will miss Nottingham Forest&#8217;s FA Cup quarter-final match on Saturday (March 29) because of injury.
Wood, who has scored 18 league goals this season, picked up an issue while playing for New Zealand during the international break.
In nearly 48% of FPL teams, he is now a doubt for Gameweek 30, which follows in midweek after the cup ties.

<h2>What happened to Chris Wood?</h2>
Wood was subbed off early in the second-half against New Caledonia on Monday (March 24), a match that saw his team qualify for the 2026 World Cup.
He was involved in the post-match celebrations but New Zealand manager Darren Bazeley offered little information on his condition post-match, stating:

“It was when he had that chance and nearly scored, which is a shame. It’s not ideal losing our captain and our goalscorer.”</blockquote>

<h2>What did Nuno Espirito Santo say about Wood on Friday?</h2>
The Forest manager addressed journalists on Friday ahead of their FA Cup game against Brighton.
Providing an update on Wood, he ruled him out for the weekend&#8217;s match. He said:

&#8220;He went for a scan today. We are still waiting. He has been to a specialist for a scan. We will wait on the information and see.
&#8220;He will not be available for this game. He felt a kick really hard on his hip so there is pain there. We have to wait.&#8221;

<h2>Is Wood a sell in FPL?</h2>
FPL managers have time to assess their options over the next few days, with the next deadline not until Tuesday (April 1).
There should be another press conference with Espirito Santo early next week, providing another opportunity for an update.
The FA Cup results will play a pivotal part in plans for the rest of the season, helping to set in place chip strategies as the blank and double gameweeks become clearer.

If a replacement is needed, Jean-Philippe Mateta is a standout option.
The Crystal Palace striker faces the league&#8217;s bottom side Southampton (A) in Gameweek 30.
His ownership could soar ahead of Double Gameweek 32, when Palace play twice.
Priced at £7.5m, the 12 goal Frenchman is just £0.2m more than Wood, which should put him within reach of most.
Transfers should be held until after the weekend&#8217;s games however, with Mateta having not played since being injured in Palace&#8217;s last cup clash.
He has been pictured in training this week, with earlier reports indicating he would be ready to return against Fulham on Saturday.

Other options could become stronger after the cup ties, with the likes of Manchester City potential doublers in Gameweek 33.
Omar Marmoush could be among those to benefit from an extra game.
City&#8217;s January signing has four goals and one assist in seven league appearances since joining the club &#8211; and plays Leicester (H) next.
He is less than half the price of Erling Haaland at £7.3m, with the Norwegian looking likely to miss Gameweek 30.
