Liverpool have confirmed the signing of Cody Gakpo from PSV, according to the Dutch club &#8211; but what are his prospects in FPL and other fantasy formats?
Gakpo was widely linked with a move to the Premier League in the January transfer window &#8211; but all the noise was surrounding a move to Liverpool&#8217;s rivals, Manchester United.
The Liverpool link emerged on Boxing Day (December 26) and the signing has now been officially confirmed, with his FPL price revealed.
He will not be eligible to play Leicester on Friday (December 30) &#8211; FPL Gameweek 18 &#8211; as new signings cannot be fielded until January 1.

<h2>Cody Gakpo: The history</h2>
Gakpo has been at PSV his whole life, rising up through the youth ranks before making his debut in the first team in 2018.
He scored 17 goals in 26 games for the PSV youth team Jong PSV and his performances earned him a senior debut at the age of 18.
He had to wait a while for his chance, warming the bench for a period, by early 2019 he was a first-team regular, scoring his first league goal in his second appearance.
Gakpo now has 36 goals in 106 matches for the Eredivisie side.
He has been the leading light of the Dutch league so far this season, topping both the goalscoring and assists charts.
The youngster has nine goals and 12 assists in 14 games, a goal ahead of the likes of former Spurs player Steven Bergwijn.
<h3>Premier League links</h3>
Gakpo was reportedly close to a move to the Premier League in the summer of 2022.
While it was Manchester United links which dominated the headlines, Gakpo revealed <a href="https://www.leeds-live.co.uk/sport/leeds-united/cody-gakpo-manchester-united-leeds-25699651">Leeds United</a> were the ones to make a formal approach.
A move to England didn&#8217;t materialise, however it didn&#8217;t feel like it would be long before he was emulating PSV manager Ruud van Nistelrooy in swapping the Netherlands for the north of England.
Fantasy Football Hub briefly discussed Gakpo when United signed Eredivisie import <a href="https://www.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/antony-fpl-sky-tff-and-dream-team-prospects-2">Antony</a> (£7.5m) in September.
Questions were asked why United has splashed the cash on the Brazilian, when Gakpo and others were available for a cheaper outlay and seemingly had stronger <a href="https://cms.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/opta/" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c="1" title="FPL Stats by OPTA - Player and Team Stats">stats</a>.
<a href="https://twitter.com/EredivisieMike">Michael Statham</a>, who covers Dutch football for the <a href="http://www.football-oranje.com/">Football-Oranje</a> website, had this to say about Gakpo at the time: “Gakpo has shown that when he is on the big stage for club or country, he goes quiet.&#8221;

What better chance to dispel that observation than the World Cup in Qatar?
Gakpo was selected in the Netherlands&#8217; squad for the tournament, and with Memphis Depay struggling to be fit for the opening stages, Louis van Gaal needed others to step up.
Enter Gakpo, who had a tournament to remember.
With three goals to his name, he was the top scorer in the Dutch team en route to the quarter-finals.
He netted in all three group games, playing either in a front two or as a number 10. There were no more goals in the knockout stage, which perhaps supports Michael&#8217;s big-stage point from earlier in the year.
But few would argue against the fact Gakpo showed what he was capable of at the highest level.
<h2>Cody Gakpo: FPL, Sky, Dream Team and TFF prospects</h2>
FPL price: £8.0m (midfielder)
Gakpo primarily plays as a left-sided attacking midfielder, however as we have seen from the World Cup he has the potential to play more centrally.
<a href="https://www.whoscored.com/Players/352825/Show/Cody-Gakpo">WhoScored</a> rates crossing, dribbling and key passes as among his main attributes, as well as finishing.
At 6ft 4ins, he should be well suited to the Premier League, although none of his league goals this season have come from headers.
In fact, he scored as many <a href="https://twitter.com/optajohan/status/1594750660012281856?lang=en">headed goals</a> in Qatar (one) as he has in the entirety of his Eredivisie career.
Should he sign for Liverpool, he will provide much-needed squad depth for a team which has suffered injuries to key men Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota.
Gakpo would find himself with plenty of competition when Liverpool&#8217;s set of forwards are all fully fit &#8211; but in the meantime he should get plenty of opportunities.
Antony had a strong start to life in the Premier League, scoring in his first three games. He was less prolific than Gakpo in the Netherlands at the time he left.
And while there is often an expectation that those who swap the Eredivisie for the England&#8217;s top tier will suffer a dip in productivity, Antony&#8217;s hot start shows the best can prosper and adapt quickly.
<h3>Sky, TFF and Dream Team</h3>
It&#8217;s not just about goals and assists in these games.
Sky gives out bonus points for passing, tackling and shots on target, while TFF midfielders earn points for tackles.
In regards to TFF, Gakpo&#8217;s classification &#8211; either as a forward or a midfielder &#8211; will therefore be something to look out for.
Sun Dream Team uses WhoScored ratings to award points for those who rate seven or above and the Star Man.
Gakpo has averaged a rating of 8.01 for club and country this season.
In the Eredivisie, he has averaged 3.6 shots, 4.2 key passes and 0.9 tackles per game. A total of 1.9 of his shots per game have been on target, figures which would see him return plenty of Sky shots bonuses if he kept it up in the Premier League.
