<p class="western">Manchester City&#8217;s signing of <strong>Erling Haaland</strong> has already sent FPL managers into a frenzy, with the Norwegian forward expected to be highly owned come Gameweek 1.</p>
<p>In our latest FPL prospects piece, we take a look at Haaland and his fantasy credentials across FPL, Sky Sports Fantasy Football, Sun Dream Team and Telegraph Fantasy Football (TFF).</p>

<h2>Erling Haaland &#8211; youth career</h2>
<p>Born in Leeds in July 2000, Haaland is the son of Alfie Haaland, who played for Leeds United, Manchester City and Nottingham Forest.</p>
<p>With his mother, Gry Marita Braut, a national champion in heptathlon, he was clearly destined for some kind of sporting success.</p>
<p>Haaland followed in his father&#8217;s footsteps by beginning his footballing journey at Norwegian side Bryne &#8211; where his father also began his career &#8211; aged five.</p>
<p>He made Bryne&#8217;s first team aged 15, having worked his way up the youth ranks.</p>
<p>His early goalscoring abilities were apparent in his returns for Bryne 2 in 2015/16, having scored 18 goals in just 14 appearances.</p>
<p>In a piece on Manchester City&#8217;s <a href="https://www.mancity.com/features/erling-haaland/ourerling/">website</a>, Bryne coach Espen Undheim said: &#8220;What was soon clear to me was that he loved scoring goals &#8211; for some boys it was like &#8216;yeah, ok, that&#8217;s good&#8217; when they scored but for Erling it was everything and he would run around with his arms in the air.</p>
<p>&#8220;It gave him such pleasure.&#8221;</p>
<p>Haaland may have loved scoring goals but he did not find the net in 16 outings for second-division Bryne&#8217;s senior side.</p>
<p>In 2017 he moved to Molde, where he scored two goals in four appearances for their second team.</p>

<h2><strong>Erling Haaland &#8211; senior and international career</strong></h2>
<p>Young Haaland made his first-team debut for Molde in 2017, then managed by Manchester United legend Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.</p>
<p>Here, the goals began to flow.</p>
<p>After scoring 14 goals in 39 appearances for Molde&#8217;s senior team, Haaland earned a transfer to Red Bull Salzburg in 2019.</p>
<p>He made 16 appearances for the Austrian Bundesliga side, scoring 17 goals.</p>
<p>Haaland was rumoured to be close to joining the likes of Manchester United in what would have been a reunion with Solksjaer.</p>
<p>But he instead joined German side Borussia Dortmund in December 2019, where he amassed some 62 goals in 67 games, attracting attention as one of the games global wonderkids.</p>
<p>His form earned him the UEFA Champions League Forward of the Season award for 2020/21.</p>
<p>Haaland has transferred his club goalscoring form to international level. He has scored 20 goals in 20 games for the senior side.</p>
<p>He will be absent from the World Cup, after Norway failed to qualify for this winter&#8217;s tournament in Qatar.</p>
<p>This may appeal to fantasy managers, with Haaland able to enjoy an early winter break.</p>

<h2><strong>Erling Haaland &#8211; FPL prospects</strong></h2>
<p>With such an impressive goals-to-games ratio at his last two clubs, joining a club bursting with creative talents in Manchester City is likely to see Haaland attract significant ownership come Gameweek 1.</p>
<p>City now have a long-awaited number nine to fill the gap left by Sergio Aguero at the end of the 2020/21 season.</p>
<p>The only possible caveats to including Haaland in fantasy teams could be injury and how long he takes to adjust to the Premier League.</p>
<p>On the latter, Unheim told the City website: &#8220;Erling has always taken a little adjustment time wherever he has been but his levels have always gone up accordingly on each occasion.&#8221;</p>
<p>Fantasy managers can however be encouraged by the fact that &#8211; despite this assertion seemingly ringing true in his early career &#8211; Haaland roared onto the scene at Dortmund by scoring a hat-trick as a second-half substitute in a 5-3 win against FC Augsburg.</p>

<h4>Injury</h4>
<p>According to <a href="https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/erling-haaland/verletzungen/spieler/418560">Transfermarkt.co.uk</a> Haaland was sidelined by injury eight times in his Dortmund career.</p>
<p>In the 2021/22 season, he missed around 16 games (95 days) with muscular problems, including a hip flexor injury.</p>
<p>It was a theme picked up on in our <a href="https://www.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/fantasy-premier-league-fixture-list-for-2022-23-season-revealed">fixture release reaction video</a> by John Nellis as a potential reason for him to look elsewhere in the early stages of the season.</p>
<p>But if the Norwegian is fit and firing in pre-season and ready for Gameweek 1, it is unlikely to put many managers off.</p>
<h2><strong>Erling Haaland &#8211; Sky, Sun and TFF prospects</strong></h2>
<p>Goals and assists are the key metric for all these formats when it comes to assessing Haaland&#8217;s potential. But looking elsewhere, are there any other potential points outlets for Sky, Sun and TFF managers?</p>
<p>In Sky, bonus points are awarded for passing, tackles and shots, while TFF also awards tackle points.</p>
<p>Dream Team uses WhoScored player ratings and awards three points for those who rate seven and above.</p>
<p>In 21 Budesliga starts and three substitute appearances, <a href="https://www.whoscored.com/Players/315227/Show/Erling-Haaland">WhoScored</a> gave him an average rating of 7.55. He was man of the match six times.</p>
<p>In the league, he averaged a total of 3.3 shots per game, almost exclusively inside the box.</p>
<p>He averaged just 0.1 tackles per game, however Sky managers will not be looking at tackle bonus when it comes to selecting their strikers.</p>
<p>Likewise passing, where Haaland also expectedly falls well short of bonus potential with an average of 19 per game at an average of 13.7%.</p>
