<h2><strong>Essential Chelsea FPL Stats | Attacking Numbers</strong></h2>
<p>I must start with <strong>Timo Werner (£9.0m)</strong>. Famous for scoring only <strong>six goals while having an expected goals of 11.45</strong>, Timo performed as expected when it comes to his expected goal involvement (xGI) (14.70).</p>
<p>If the xG Delta was low, then the expected assists (xA) Delta must be high. True enough, Werner achieved eight assists last season with an xA of only 3.25.</p>
<p>Having <strong>Romelu Lukaku</strong> as a target will relieve some pressure from Werner. He also has the potential to increase Werner’s assist tally significantly.</p>
<p>The potential impact of going from Turtle-Head-Timo to Lukaku cannot be understated. This is a team with the <strong>2<sup>nd</sup> highest cross completion</strong> (24.8%) and the <strong>joint 2<sup>nd</sup> most goals from corners</strong> (10).</p>
<p>Chelsea boast the <strong>2<sup>nd</sup> highest pass completion in the final third</strong> (84.7%), leading to the 4<sup>th</sup> most big chances (94) and the 3<sup>rd</sup> most shots in the box (365). All good <a href="https://cms.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/opta/" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c="1" title="FPL Stats by OPTA - Player and Team Stats">stats</a> for Lukaku, who has <strong>slightly outperformed his xGI/90</strong> in the 19/20 (0.77), and in 20/21 (0.95) seasons.</p>
<p>Lukaku scored <strong>47 goals in two seasons in the Serie A. </strong>Him coming to a side that generated the <strong>3<sup>rd</sup> highest xG</strong> last season is very exciting.</p>

<h2><strong>Essential Chelsea FPL Stats | Defensive Numbers</strong></h2>
<p>Defensively, <strong>Chelsea do not concede much</strong> because they do not allow penetration into the box.</p>
<p>The <strong>2<sup>nd</sup> fewest big chances conceded</strong>, and the <strong>lowest xG conceded</strong>, combined with the 3<sup>rd</sup> fewest blocks, paint a picture of opposing teams resorting to low percentage perimeter attempts on goal.</p>
<p>The real coup for Chelsea is that they force opponents to play a perimeter game, yet <strong>they conceded the fewest headed shots</strong> (41). That&#8217;s simply not an avenue on which opposing teams can rely.</p>
<p>I love Chelsea’s attackers on the right side in their first match against <a href="https://cms.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/essential-crystal-palace-fpl-stats/"><strong>Crystal Palac</strong></a>e, but I believe the left side (<strong>Ben Chilwell (£6.0m)</strong> and Timo) will be generally further forward this season.</p>
