Who are the best under-the-radar differentials and budget picks in the UEFA Euro 2024 Fantasy game?

Here, we take a look at some low-owned options as well as some gems at the lowest price in the game – €4.0m.

Euro 2024 Fantasy: Under-the-radar differential players

Memphis Depay (€7.5m) – Netherlands – 3%

Fixture: Poland

Depay has been a popular pick ahead of past international tournaments – but not this time.

He has had a season to forget, with several muscle injuries contributing to him playing just 886 league minutes.

The Atletico Madrid forward posted a farewell message to the club’s fans earlier this month and will be keen to put himself in the shop window as he searches for a new team.

Depay is clearly at home playing for the national team, with his 44 international goals just six behind record holder Robin Van Persie.

He played 62 minutes against Canada in a warm-up friendly last week and was one of the best players on the pitch, scoring once and creating two big chances.

The fantasy focus up front is on premium picks Kylian Mbappe and Harry Kane, however Depay could make a mockery of his low ownership.

Xherdan Shaqiri (€6.5m) – Switzerland – 2%

Fixture: Hungary

Shaqiri, 32, remains an influential player for Switzerland.

He scored two and assisted three in his seven qualifying games and is expected to be on penalties and most set-pieces at the Euros.

The former Liverpool midfielder scored from the spot in the 4-0 friendly win over Estonia last week – but missed his initial attempt before VAR ordered a retake.

He created one big chance in that game, as well as completing three key passes and having three shots on goal.

There are a number of appealing options to choose from in midfield between €7.0m and €7.5m but Shaqiri comes in €0.5m cheaper.

Christian Eriksen (€7.0m) – Denmark – 4%

Fixture: Slovenia

Eriksen is another player who has perhaps been overlooked because of an underwhelming club season.

But three years on from his Euro 2020 cardiac arrest, Eriksen has re-established himself as one of Denmark’s best players.

He scored one and assisted three in qualifying and was on target from outside the box against Sweden last week.

Teammate Pierre Emile-Hojbjerg comes in cheaper at €5.5m and has scored twice in Denmark’s warm-up matches.

But Eriksen is on penalties and set-pieces, justifying the extra cost. The Danes face Slovenia in their opening group game, the lowest-ranked side in their group.

Joakim Maehle (€5.5m) – Denmark – 2%

Fixture: Slovenia

Jeremie Frimpong is the fashionable attacking defensive pick heading into Euro 2024 – but all but 2% of fantasy managers seem to have forgotten Maehle.

The Danish wing-back scored two and assisted one at Euro 202o and managed five goal involvements for Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga this season.

He looked bright in the 2-1 win over Sweden last week, completing three key passes and having four shots on goal.

Denmark have a tough game against England in Matchday 2, which may make it hard to justify his price.

But he could be worth a punt in Matchday 1 against Slovenia and an attacking return and clean sheet would be a major differential boost.

The only downside is that Denmark do have other strong options in the wing-back positions, including Victor Kristiansen, who picked up an assist in their final warm-up game.

Adam Cerin (€5.0m) – Slovenia – 1%

Fixture: Denmark

Those shopping in the €5.0m midfielder bracket have mainly opted for Italy’s penalty taking holding midfielder Jorginho.

But those who need a cheap midfielder could instead look to Cerin.

He was the only Slovenian to play every minute for his country in qualifying and he scored one and assisted three.

Benjamin Sesko will be among the target men for Cerin’s set-pieces and if Slovenia score against Maehle and Denmark, this diferential duo is likely to be involved.

Georgiy Sudakov (€6.5m) – Ukraine – 0%

Fixture: Romania

Ukraine have plenty of strength in depth and we initially highlighted Artem Dovbyk as our pick from Sergiy Rebrov’s team.

But the likelihood of the forward sharing minutes with Roman Yaremchuk has seen us look elsewhere.

Enter promising 21-year-old Sudakov, who played more minutes for Ukraine than any other player in qualifying.

The Shakhtar Donetsk playmaker, who has been linked with a move to the Premier League, scored one and assisted two as he helped Ukraine to reach Euro 2024.

According to FBref.com stats, he had the second most shots along the way, five behind €7.0m midfielder Mykhailo Mudryk, with a comparable shots per 90 record to Dovbyk.

He was in hot form in Ukraine’s final warm-up game too, scoring a goal and assisting two.

Marc Guehi (€4.5m) – England – 1%

Fixture: Serbia

Guehi’s ownership has risen little since it emerged that Harry Maguire would miss Euro 2024 through injury.

It is believed the Crystal Palace man is next in line to partner John Stones and if so, he would be the cheapest starting England defender.

Guehi has no goals in 11 appearances for his country, however it’s his price that is the attraction here.

England are expected to progress smoothly through the group stage and are among the favourites to go all the way in Germany.

A €4.5m defender from a top team could be a gift – as could Germany’s 4% owned Jonathan Tah at the same price.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (€7.0m) – Georgia – 4%

Fixture: Turkey

Kvaratskhelia is the Georgians’ talisman, on set-pieces and penalties, and although he is listed as a midfielder in the game, he plays up front for his national team.

The Napoli player scored 11 and assisted six in Serie A and found the net four times in Euro qualifying.

He comes in at a competitive price point but is likely to be among the goals if the lowest-ranked side in the tournament cause any upsets.

Timothy Castagne (€5.0m) – Belgium – 3%

Fixture: Slovakia

Castagne was one of Belgium’s most nailed starters in qualifying, playing the second most minutes behind Wout Faes.

He picked up two assists and offers attacking threat for a reasonable price. He was a regular for Fulham this season, returning a goal and three assists in 34 matches.

Belgium play Slovakia and Romania in their first two group games, with the tricky tie against Ukraine last.

Euro 2024 Fantasy: Best budget €4.0m players

If you’re short of cash and need a €4.0m pick to complete your squad, here are the best options:

Maximilian Mittelstadt (€4.0m) – Germany

Antonio Rudiger (€5.5m) is the most popular German defender, in 32% of teams.

But left-back Mittelstadt could be a higher-upside pick at a much lower price.

The Stuttgart defender only has four caps for his country, all coming since the March friendlies.

He already has a goal to his name however, curling a shot in from outside the box against the Netherlands.

Could he be Euro 2024’s Denzel Dumfries – a full-back who offers high attacking potential – just as Dutchman Dumfries has done in previous tournaments?

Wout Faes (DEF) – Belgium – Started all eight qualifying games, with a goal and an assist, plus both warm-up friendlies, but not 100% nailed to start
Jan Bednarek (DEF) – Poland – Started all eight qualifying games but no attacking returns
Guram Kashia (DEF) – Georgia – 10 starts out of 10 in qualifying and averaged 6.8 ball recoveries per game
Patrick Pentz (GK) – Austria – A budget goalkeeper who should start but an opening clean sheet is unlikely with France up first
Horatiu Moldovan (GK) – Romania – Likely to be his nation’s number one, although has competition from Florin Nita
Andrea Cambiaso (DEF) – Italy – By no means a certain starter, so represents a risk, however he could start at right wing-back against Albania
