We highlighted the five best FPL players recently but what if we we used the Hub’s Points Prediction Tool to see if there were any major differences?

Let’s put it to the test and go through the top five best FPL players according to the tool for the first six Gameweeks.

The purpose of this tool is not to predict the exact scores of players but to give a clear idea of who has the best fixtures, and chances of scoring points for the time period selected. The predicted points should not be too far from the actual points.

1) Mohammed Salah (£12.5m) – Liverpool

It’s not surprising to see the Egyptian King as the top expected points scorer for the first six Gameweeks.

Liverpool have a fantastic start to the season fixture-wise playing Norwich (a), Burnley (H), Chelsea (H), Leeds United (a), Crystal Palace (H) and Brentford (a) in their first six matches.

Salah is expected to score 41 points during this period, more than any other player. To top it off, he is also number one for expected points in Gameweek 1 with 7.7 points.

It’s hard to argue against picking the Liverpool forward for your FPL team from the off and I suspect he will also be the most captained player in Gameweek 1.

With Liverpool’s opening fixtures, and with Salah also being on penalties, I would highly recommend not overthinking it and starting with the Egyptian.

2) Bruno Fernandes (£12.0m) – Manchester United

Just like with Salah, it’s not a surprise to see the highest scoring player in the game last season also feature on this list. Bruno ended the season on 244 points with a mighty 18 goals and 14 assists.

The Portuguese playmaker registered 121 Shots (2nd of all players), 51 Shots on Target (2nd), 48 Shots in the Box (6th), and 20 Big Chances (4th). He also created 95 Chances (1st) and 20 Big Chances (1st).

Our Prediction Tool has him down to score 39.9 points in Gameweeks 1 to 6 and 6.9 points (2nd) for Gameweek 1 alone. Even with Bruno costing an extra £1.5m this season, he is still worth the premium price.

Manchester United have a lot of firepower, even more so now with the arrival of Jadon Sancho (£9.5m). They scored 73 goals (2nd) last term with 213 Shots on Target (3rd), 324 Shots in the Box (6th) and 94 Big Chances (3rd).

Bruno has a fantastic set of opening fixtures and our advanced Fixture Ticker also predicts them to score the most goals in the first eight games.

He plays Leeds United (H), Southampton (a), Wolves (a), Newcastle United (H), West Ham (a) and Aston Villa (H) in the first six. The Portuguese is also on penalties.

3) Kevin De Bruyne (£12.0m) – Manchester City

The Belgian comes in at third place with an expected points of 36.5 for the first six Gameweeks and 6.2 points for Gameweek 1 (4^th).

With De Bruyne back in training, it looks like he should be good to start the season and he still ranks in the top three despite some tough fixtures.

Manchester City play Spurs (a), Arsenal (H), Chelsea (a) and Liverpool (a) in their first eight matches. The fact he is still third on the list shows how good an FPL option he is and how highly our Prediction Tool rates him.

Last season, the Belgian wizard scored six goals and registered 12 assists in 23 starts. He also recorded 80 Shots, 26 Shots on Target, 38 Shots in the Box and 13 Big Chances.

De Bruyne also created 80 Chances (4th) and 20 Big Chances (1st).

Furthermore, City scored 83 goals with 218 Shots on Target (1^st), 394 Shots in the Box (2nd) and 107 Big Chances (2nd).

4) Jadon Sancho (£9.5m) – Manchester United

Jadon Sancho comes in at fourth despite not playing a single game for Manchester United yet. Our Prediction Tool has him down to score 35 points in the first six Gameweeks and 6.1 points in Gameweek 1 (5^th).

If this holds true, then this makes him an absolute bargain at £9.5m considering the players above him are at least £2.5m more expensive.

The England international signed from Borussia Dortmund with great expectation and is a very talented player. In four seasons with the German club, he managed 38 goals and 51 assists in 104 games.

It’s no wonder our Prediction Tool rates him so highly and if he can post similar numbers for Manchester United, then he will be an essential buy.

He is an all-round playmaker and goal scorer and his early fixtures of Leeds United (H), Southampton (a), Wolves (a), Newcastle United (H), West Ham (a) and Aston Villa (H) give him a good platform to get off to a flying start.

Jadon Sancho Stats

5) Sadio Mané (£12.0m) – Liverpool

Sadio Mané seems to have taken a bit of a hit with the Prediction Tool this season due to his mediocre campaign, at least by his standards. He scored 11 goals and 11 assists – his worst returns since the 2017/18 season.

Despite his favourable early fixtures, he ranks as the fifth highest predicted points scorer with 34 points. Yet he comes in at 6.3 points (3^rd) for Gameweek 1 which is promising.

Although it’s a decent score, his hefty price tag makes him a difficult buy. His Egyptian teammate is only £0.5m more expensive but his stats and output are far better.

Mané could possibly be an option in a double up with Salah for the early fixtures. He may just hit the ground running with his previous seasons’ form where he scored 18 goals and 10 assists in 2109/20.

The Senegalese winger also won the golden boot after notching 22 goals and three assists in the 2018/19 season.

Our stat expert Carl Weeks developed the statistical spreadsheet tool. It uses various spread betting odds and expected bonus to determine the expected points for each player.
