<p>Rich is a Fantasy Premier League veteran and has one of the most enviable records out there. Notching two top 500 finishes and eight top 10k finishes, he is the only FPL manager never to finish outside the top 35k in each of his 15 seasons.</p>
<p>Rich will be revealing his team on a weekly basis in the 2021/22 season; providing observations and strategies where appropriate.</p>

<p>After a disastrous Gameweek 28, where my ranking suffered badly, falling to 48k (from 17k), I decided to take some drastic action! I used my first <a href="https://cms.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/what-is-the-free-hit-chip-in-fpl-and-how-can-we-use-it/">Free Hit chip</a> in Gameweek 29 in an attempt to claw back some ground.</p>
<p>My team scored<strong> 108 points</strong> last week, with a full 22 'man-games' enabled. I saw this approach for an 'attacking' Free Hit as preferable to playing the chip this week, to cover a blank. I'm pleased with the result and a return to the top 35k with nine weeks remaining.  The top 10k remains the target and I have three chips left.</p>

<h2>Strategy Execution</h2>
<p>Since I last wrote, it has become clear that the 'Gameweek 26-30' multi-chip strategy has worked well for the majority who went that way.  <strong>Mohamed Salah</strong> Triple-Captainers in Gameweek 26 did something to reduce the losses, but overall it has been a solid approach and I would say that group of managers is ahead as we stand.</p>
<p>After the upcoming gameweek, FPL will swing somewhat in favour of those with a high number of chips remaining. The 'run-in' period - from Gameweeks 31-38, will feature a number of Double Gameweeks and <a href="https://cms.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/fixture-ticker/">fixture swings</a>. Fantasy managers who still have the flexibility of a Wildcard, Free Hit and a Bench Boost (for example) should find it easier to navigate these weeks.</p>
<p>I'm desperate to head into this period with the above three chips in-pocket<strong>.</strong> Having patiently waited for information and re-arranged fixtures, we are at the final weekend for FA Cup Quarter-finals to be played and then we get a full international break to plan and consider our moves. The picture in early April should be much clearer in terms of fixtures and opportunities.</p>
<p>My team for <strong>Gameweek 30</strong> however, is not in good shape!</p>
<p>Injuries to Jarrod Bowen and Lucas Digne in recent weeks have reduced the number of available players I have to six (pre-transfers). This includes Emile Smith-Rowe, who hasn't been starting games for Arsenal, so I'm looking at a likely red arrow this week.</p>

<h3>Wildcard?</h3>
<p>I have considered using the second Wildcard, and loading up on Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Leicester City players (who have favourable fixtures and doubles after Gameweek 30), but I am not sure I want to use such a valuable chip in a week with only four fixtures.  I cannot use a Free Hit as and you can't use Free Hits in consecutive weeks!</p>
<p>My rationale for holding on to the Wildcard is as follows:</p>
<ul>
<li>We get a lot of confirmation on fixtures and blanks from upcoming FA Cup matches</li>
<li>The average number of Gameweek 30 players this week is around 8. I think this will be a low-scoring week overall</li>
<li>My Gameweek 31 team sets up quite well as it stands (I have Edouard Mendy v Brentford, Wout Weghorst with a double, Joao Cancelo and Raphinha with favourable fixtures etc)</li>
<li>Finally - I feel the make-up of a Wildcard squad in a few week's time will look very different to one that has a lot of Wolves, Aston Villa, Leicester, Leeds players etc. If I hold, I can focus on Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City assets along with late season doublers to optimise the returns</li>
