<p>A new &#8216;mystery&#8217; chip will be among changes to the 2024/25 Fantasy Premier League game, it has been confirmed today (Tuesday, July 16).</p>
<p>FPL is expected to launch soon, with dozens of <a href="https://www.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/fpl-price-reveals-2024-25">player prices</a> having been revealed in recent days.</p>
<p>But in the latest announcement, FPL teased a series of changes to the game for the season ahead. We explore them below.</p>

<h2>What are the new FPL changes?</h2>
<h3>Up to five free transfers</h3>
<p>FPL managers have previously been able to save one free transfer if they choose not to make one in a given week, giving them two free transfers in the following gameweek.</p>
<p>That cap has been lifted, meaning patience will be rewarded with a maximum of five free transfers.</p>
<p>In another twist, these free transfers will not be reset after playing the Wildcard or Free Hit.</p>
<h3>Mystery chip</h3>
<p>The details of this remain, well, a mystery, but there will be a new chip this season.</p>
<p>The Mystery Chip will become playable in January, with more information expected later in the year.</p>
<p>Could it be an extra Wildcard, Free Hit or Bench Boost of our choice, or will it be an entirely new chip in its own right? Time will tell!</p>

<h3>Point scoring changes</h3>

<p>Not such a big one, but goalkeepers will score 10 points &#8211; not six &#8211; if they find the back of the net.</p>
<p>FPL has confirmed some changes to the bonus point system, with penalty saves getting less credit in the system.</p>
<p>Additionally, the bonus point system will introduce more actions to be rewarded or penalised:</p>
<ul>
<li>Goalkeepers and defenders concede a goal: -4 BPS</li>
<li>Goalline clearance: 1 BPS</li>
<li>Foul won: 1 BPS</li>
<li>Shot on target: 2 BPS</li>

<h3>A reminder about blank and double gameweeks&#8230;</h3>
<p>Not a structural change to the game but as we&#8217;ve already mentioned in our <a href="https://www.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/fpl-blank-double-gameweek-guide">Blank and Double Gameweek Guide</a>, strategies could be a little different this season because we are expecting fewer blanks and doubles.</p>
<p>This is because the schedule for the FA Cup has changed, leading to less need to postpone Premier League games, one of the major things that creates changes to the fixtures.</p>
<p>We&#8217;ll have analysis of this and how all the other changes will affect FPL strategies in pre-season.</p>
