<p>Fantasy Premier League (FPL) introduced a major rules change for 2025/26, awarding extra points for <a href="https://www.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/fpl-2025-26-changes-defensive-contributions">defensive contributions</a>.</p>
<p>Centre-backs and defensive midfielders often benefit most from this new addition, widening the selection of players for FPL managers to choose from.</p>
<p><strong>James Tarkowski</strong>, <strong>Moises Caicedo </strong>and <strong>Elliot Anderson</strong> would have been among the biggest beneficiaries last season &#8211; but who is leading the way so far this time?</p>

<h2>What are the rules on points for defensive contributions?</h2>
<p>Defenders must register at least 10 clearances, blocks, interceptions and tackles in a single game to earn their two extra points.</p>
<p>All other outfield players must reach 12 &#8211; but ball recoveries are counted on top.</p>

<h2>Who scored defensive contribution points in Double Gameweek 37?</h2>
<p>With three games still to come, a total of 25 players have earned defensive contribution points so far in Gameweek 37 &#8211; 14 defenders, 10 midfielders and one forward.</p>
<p>In defence, popular picks to pick up extra points this week included <strong>James Tarkowski </strong>and <strong>Virgil van Dijk</strong>, while penalty-taking left-back <strong>Antonee Robinson </strong>also reached the points threshold.</p>
<p><strong>Daniel Munoz </strong>and <strong>Jaydee Canvot </strong>made the cut for Crystal Palace, with other frequent earners also hitting the mark including <strong>Kostas Mavropanos </strong>and <strong>Nathan</strong> <strong>C</strong><strong>ollins</strong>.</p>
<p><strong>Elliot Anderson </strong>once again picked up points in midfield, and now leads the overall standings ahead of <strong>Marcos Senesi</strong> who delivered 0 points against Manchester City.</p>
<p><strong>Bruno Guimaraes </strong>also continued his fine form with some more defensive returns, while <strong>Mateus Mane </strong>was the sole forward to deliver defensive points this week.</p>
