<p>Fantasy Premier League (FPL) introduced a major rules change for 2025/26, awarding extra points for <a href="https://www.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/fpl-2025-26-changes-defensive-contributions">defensive contributions</a>.</p>
<p>Centre-backs and defensive midfielders often benefit most from this new addition, widening the selection of players for FPL managers to choose from.</p>
<p><strong>James Tarkowski</strong>, <strong>Moises Caicedo </strong>and <strong>Elliot Anderson</strong> would have been among the biggest beneficiaries last season &#8211; but who is leading the way so far this time?</p>
<p>Here, we list the highest scoring assets for defensive contributions so far and take note of significant players and trends. This article will be updated weekly throughout this season.</p>

<h2>What are the rules on points for defensive contributions?</h2>
<p>Defenders must register at least 10 clearances, blocks, interceptions and tackles in a single game to earn their two extra points.</p>
<p>All other outfield players must reach 12 &#8211; but ball recoveries are counted on top.</p>
<h2>Who scored defensive contribution points in Gameweek 27?</h2>
<p>A total of 40 players earned defensive contribution points in Gameweek 26 &#8211; 20 defenders, 19 midfielders and one forward.</p>
<p>That forward was <strong>Jarrod Bowen</strong>, who is now up to eight points for the season and is one of just two in his position to have hit the target of 12.</p>
<p><strong>Elliot Anderson </strong>is now up to 40 defensive contribution points for the season, taking over the number-one spot from <strong>Marcos Senesi </strong>who was just short against West Ham.</p>
<p>Seven players hit the required numbers in the Nottingham Forest v Liverpool match and six in the Spurs v Arsenal derby. Anderson was well clear of the 12 needed, recording 19 defensive actions.</p>
<p>Leeds&#8217;<strong> Ethan Ampadu </strong>had the most of the week though, with 21 against Aston Villa.</p>
<p><strong>Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall</strong>, <strong>Casemiro </strong>and <strong>Harry Maguire </strong>earned defensive contribution points in the Everton v Manchester United match, the final fixture of the gameweek.</p>
