<p>Fantasy Premier League (FPL) introduced a major rules change for 2025/26, awarding extra points for <a href="https://www.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/fpl-2025-26-changes-defensive-contributions">defensive contributions</a>.</p>
<p>Centre-backs and defensive midfielders are expected to benefit most from this new addition, widening the selection of players for FPL managers to choose from.</p>
<p><strong>James Tarkowski</strong>, <strong>Moises Caicedo </strong>and <strong>Elliot Anderson</strong> would have been among the biggest beneficiaries last season &#8211; but who is leading the way so far this time?</p>

<h2>What are the rules on points for defensive contributions?</h2>
<p>Defenders must register at least 10 clearances, blocks, interceptions and tackles in a single game to earn their two extra points.</p>
<p>All other outfield players must reach 12 &#8211; but ball recoveries are counted on top.</p>

<h2>Who scored defensive contribution points in Double Gameweek 26?</h2>
<p>A total of 33 players earned defensive contribution points in Double Gameweek 26 &#8211; 21 defenders and 12 midfielders.</p>
<p><strong>Declan Rice </strong>and <strong>Joao Gomes </strong>were among the doublers to return defensive contribution points in midfield, with popular enabler <strong>Elliot Anderson</strong> also in the points yet again.</p>
<p>The Nottingham Forest man is now level with <strong>Marcos Senesi </strong>for the most defensive contribution points this season (38), and he sits a huge 12 points ahead of <strong>James Garner </strong>who is ranked 2nd among midfielders for this statistic.</p>
<p>In defence meanwhile there were more points to be had for popular picks such as <strong>Gabriel</strong>, <strong>Virgil van Dijk </strong>and <strong>Trevoh Chalobah</strong>, while <strong>Maxence Lacroix </strong>hit the threshold yet again for Crystal Palace</p>
<p><strong>Joachim Andersen </strong>was another regular who banked points this week, with Fulham now entering a more favourable fixture run.</p>
