The Triple Captain chip was widely activated ahead of FPL Double Gameweek 25 &#8211; but most managers were relying on strong second showings after a poor weekend for their picks.
Popular players with just one fixture were the main stars, punishing managers who sold them to increase their double gameweek options.

<h2>FPL Double Gameweek 25 captaincy: Slight relief for Haaland backers</h2>
Erling Haaland (£14.4m) was hugely favoured for Double Gameweek 25, backed by more than 90% of the top 250,000 managers.
The majority also opted to use the Triple Captain chip on him too, adding to the disappointment when he came away from his first match of the double empty handed.

City drew 1-1 with Chelsea, with Rodri (£5.6m) assisted by Kyle Walker (£5.5m).
Haaland had plenty of opportunities. He missed three big chances and racked up an expected goals (xG) tally of 1.71, the second highest figure behind Dominic Solanke (£6.9m).
As pointed out by Hub partner Andy, of <a href="https://twitter.com/LetsTalk_FPL/status/1758987175687864641">Let&#8217;s Talk FPL</a>, Haaland has bettered that xG only four times this season, with at least one return in all those games.
And <a href="https://twitter.com/OptaJoe/status/1758941980275388737">Opta</a> noted his nine shots and xG were his highest totals without scoring for City. &#8216;Frustrating&#8217; indeed for owners.
It was a similar story on Tuesday as City edged out Brentford 1-0. Haaland got the goal in the 71st minute but again could have had more, with four shots on target.
His total xG over the two games was 2.57, indicating owners were unlucky to come away with just one attacking return and two bonus points for a 33 point Triple Captain.
No other captaincy option was chosen by more than 2.31% of the top 250,000.
Second most popular Kevin De Bruyne (£10.8m) created one of Haaland&#8217;s big chances against Chelsea and came away with two points.
He was nowhere to be seen against Brentford though and didn&#8217;t come off the bench.
Diogo Jota (£8.3m) picked up an assist in Liverpool&#8217;s 4-1 win over Brentford but lasted just 44 minutes before going off injured.
Darwin Nunez (£7.6m) scored, however he too failed to last the full game. He was replaced at half-time with a knock and, like Jota, missed Liverpool&#8217;s second game of the week.

<h2>FPL Double Gameweek 25 injuries: Jota and Nunez owners disappointed</h2>
Jota had to be stretchered off after suffering a heavy blow to his knee against Brentford.
It was described by Jurgen Klopp as &#8216;probably the worst&#8217; injury of the day for the Reds, who also lost Nunez and Curtis Jones (£4.9m).
There were no definitive updates on the trio from Klopp post-match but speaking to the media ahead of their game against Luton, Klopp said Jota was looking at &#8216;months&#8217; rather than weeks out.
Klopp did not provide a further update on Nunez ahead of the Luton game, having said post-Brentford:
<blockquote>&#8220;Darwin, we took off because he felt really a little but that was obviously today enough to immediately push the brake and that&#8217;s what we did, so we took him off and brought Cody [Gakpo] on and that worked out really well.&#8221;</blockquote>

Mohamed Salah (£13.0m) played for the first time since Gameweek 20 after recovering from a hamstring problem which happened at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
He came on for Jota just before half-time, scoring and assisting for 11 FPL points, but there are unconfirmed reports he aggravated the injury and could also be a doubt for Luton.
The Hatters have concerns of their own, with forward Elijah Adebayo (£4.9m) pulling up in the warm-up against Manchester United. Manager Rob Edwards said it was a hamstring problem, which would keep him out of the double gameweek altogether.
Speaking before the Liverpool game, he said:
<blockquote>&#8220;We&#8217;re still not sure how bad it is. He will see someone later this afternoon.
&#8220;I hope it&#8217;s not weeks, hopefully it&#8217;s days. I wouldn&#8217;t like to put a timescale on it now because sometimes hamstrings can play up a little bit.&#8221;</blockquote>
Hamstrings were at the forefront of Pep Guardiola&#8217;s mind on Tuesday too, with De Bruyne failing to make it off the bench against Brentford.
Guardiola said his star midfielder had &#8216;niggles&#8217; in his hamstring but was &#8216;fine&#8217;, adding:
<blockquote>&#8220;He&#8217;s OK, he&#8217;s OK, it was more about prevention. He said he didn&#8217;t feel comfortable and the doctors said not to take a risk.&#8221;</blockquote>

<h2>FPL Double Gameweek 25: Don&#8217;t discount those without a double</h2>
Preparing for a double gameweek often sees good FPL options moved on to fit in more players with two fixtures.
It was no different this week, with Watkins and Solanke among the most transferred-out players.
But these moves can backfire &#8211; and in many cases they did, with Nunez and Jota the second and third most popular transfers in.
Bukayo Saka (£9.0m), Ollie Watkins (£8.7m) and Solanke were three single-gameweek players to haul, with 15, 13 and 12 points respectively.
Arsenal celebrated their second big away win in succession, following last week&#8217;s 6-0 defeat of West Ham with a 5-0 scoreline against Burnley.

Saka netted 15 points in both games, scoring twice against the Clarets, and no one has more points over the last four gameweeks than the England international.
Watkins scored both of Aston Villa&#8217;s goals at Fulham and had a strike ruled out by VAR. The Villa frontman has more goal involvements (27) than any other player this season.
Solanke meanwhile continued his excellent season, scoring his 14th of the season and assisting another against Newcastle at St James&#8217; Park.
He matched Haaland for big chances (three) and made no mistake when Newcastle goalkeeper Martin Dubravka (£4.2m) slipped and gifted him a tap-in from close range.
The Bournemouth talisman had the highest xG in the league at the weekend (2.23) and could be the next popular Triple Captain choice for those who did not use the chip in Double Gameweek 25. The Cherries play twice in Double Gameweek 28.
Elsewhere, Simon Adingra (£5.0m) returned from a victorious AFCON campaign by scoring twice against Sheffield United, matching Saka&#8217;s 15 pointer.
Rasmus Hojlund (£7.2m) became the youngest player to score in six successive Premier League games, with his sixth and seventh goals of the season coming against Luton.
Wolves&#8217; Joao Gomes (£4.9m) also braced, helping Wolves to a 2-1 away win over Tottenham Hotspur.
