<h2>Bakar’s Gameweek 1 Squad</h2>
<p>Here I talk about each of my Gameweek 1 selections and why I picked them.</p>
<h3></h3>
<h3 style="font-weight: 400;"><strong>Robert Sánchez and Jason Steele</strong></h3>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">Brighton's defence stands out for me as the defence with the best £4.5m defensive assets in the game. The Seagulls were only behind Chelsea and Man City for xG and big chances conceded last season.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">Sánchez at £4.5m is extraordinary value for money as I think he'd be the £4.5m keeper who will accumulate the highest number of clean sheets this season.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">Sánchez had a better baseline BPS per 90 than all Brighton defenders recording 14.2 baseline BPS per 90 last season hence is likely to get a share of the bonus when Brighton are to keep a clean sheet.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">Despite the fact that he was 16th among all keepers in the league for saves last season, I think he will offer great value given Brighton's favourable run at the start of the season.</p>
<p>Steele is Sánchez's backup heading into the season which is why he is in my team as the substitute goalkeeper.</p>
<h3></h3>
<h3 style="font-weight: 400;"><strong>Trent Alexander Arnold and Konstantinos Tsimikas</strong></h3>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">Trent accumulated the highest number of FPL points in the entire game in the second half of the season (Gameweek 20-38) so comes into this season in a rich vein of form.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">A quick glance at <a href="https://cms.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/bigmanbakar/77">Fantasy Football Hub's OPTA tool</a> tells me that he is also top for big chances created and expected goal involvement among all defenders this calendar year so presents FPL manager with potential at both ends of the field which is why in my opinion, he is worth the premium over his counterparts.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">He's well rested having played no football over the Euros so should be raring to go.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">Tsimikas is a short term option but at £4m he's too good to pass up given the fact that he's likely to play against Norwich and Burnley in the opening two fixtures.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">Liverpool are the bookies favourites for a clean sheet this week - and the numbers back them up.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">I think the loss of Emi Buendía is huge. He created three chances per game and had a 43% goal involvement in Norwich's goals last season. In fact, Norwich scored just six goals in seven games in which Buendía wasn't involved.</p>

<h3 style="font-weight: 400;"><strong>Luke Shaw</strong></h3>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">Shaw has created the most chances among all Premier League players this calendar year hence has a high ceiling as he's likely to record bonus points whenever Man United are to keep a clean sheet.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">He's on some set pieces which is another string in his bow. <a href="https://cms.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/bigmanbakar/74">Fantasy Football Hub's season ticker</a> tells me that Man United have a great fixture run to begin with which is why Shaw is an easy selection for me.</p>
<h3></h3>
<h3>John Stones</h3>
<p>A Man City defender is always a reliable bet for clean sheets which is why I like having Stones in my draft. I firmly believe he is first choice having signed a new contract this week. There's a doubt regarding his involvement against Spurs as he just reported back to training this week but given my team structure, I can afford to bench him this week.</p>
<p>Man City have the best average odds for clean sheets over the next five GWs which is why I think having Stones could be a shrewd strategy. Dias is £0.5m more expensive, but I think Stones offer a good saving over him - particularly at a point when rotation without the Champions League should be at a minimum.</p>
<h3></h3>
<h3><strong>Andrew Omobamidele</strong></h3>
<p>Omobamidele didnt start a single game till Ben Gibson needed ankle surgery in March. However, he has done a good job whenever he has played ever since and with back three a real possibility for Norwich, he could have a big role to play.</p>
<p>He's played each one of Norwich's minutes in pre season with Grant Hanley being absent which gives him a realistic chance of keeping the shirt heading into the new season.</p>
<h3></h3>
<h3 style="font-weight: 400;"><strong>Ismaïla Sarr</strong></h3>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">Sarr is Watford's talisman and their match winner. He had a decent season the last time Watford were in the Premier League but now comes on the back of having scored eight times and assisted twice in his previous 14 matches.</p>
