<p>Every manager was topped up to the maximum of <a href="https://www.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/whats-new-in-fpl-2025-26-more-transfers-new-assist-rules">five free transfer</a>s this week.</p>
<p>For many, they could come at the right time.</p>
<p><strong>Daniel Munoz </strong>is facing several weeks on the sidelines after knee surgery, a problem for around a quarter of FPL managers.</p>

<p>The transfers were never meant to be for unexpected injuries.</p>
<p>They were announced at the start of the season to help managers deal with players leaving for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).</p>
<p>But with <strong>Mohamed Salah </strong>barely a factor &#8211; especially amid the saga over his benchings &#8211; and players not being released for international duty until Gameweek 17, the rush to deal with them is not immediate.</p>
<p>The likes of <strong>Bryan Mbeumo </strong>can be held for one more game, although he could be a makeweight for Saka who is a serious captaincy contender.</p>

<p>But late team news could present many with more issues than hoped for &#8211; and there has already been lots of transfer activity.</p>

<h2>FPL Gameweek 16 tips: Top transfer targets</h2>
<p><strong>Phil Foden </strong>is the top transfer target this week, with more than 1m new owners since the last deadline.</p>
<p>Brentford forward <strong>Igor Thiago </strong>is second, coming in for <strong>Jean-Philippe Mateta </strong>in many cases amid fitness concerns and reduced recent minutes for the Crystal Palace frontman.</p>
<p>Timber has attracted more than 290,000 new managers. They will have be sweating on Mikel Arteta&#8217;s <a href="https://www.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/premier-league-predicted-lineups">press conference</a> given he missed the midweek Champions League match &#8211; and he was non-committal, saying:</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;It depends on how he feels today. It was a knock that he picked up and he wasn&#8217;t feeling comfortable, so yeah, again I think it&#8217;s a matter of days but whether it&#8217;s tomorrow or not, we&#8217;ll see.&#8221;</p></blockquote>
<p>The Dutchman was pictured in training before the European fixture, so hopefully his absence was just precautionary.</p>
