<p>FPL Double Gameweek 22 is nearing completion, with early joy for those who played their <a href="https://www.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/what-is-the-fantasy-premier-league-triple-captain-and-when-to-use-it">Triple Captain</a> chip on <strong>Marcus Rashford (£7.2m)</strong>.</p>
<p>Here, we take a look at some of the key points of the week so far and delve into some chip usage <a href="https://cms.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/opta/" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c="1" title="FPL Stats by OPTA - Player and Team Stats">stats</a>.</p>

<h2>FPL Gameweek 22: Rashford Triple Captain backers ahead on points</h2>
<p>Those who used their Triple Captain on <strong>Erling Haaland (£12.2m) </strong>in Gameweek 20 scored 24 points from the City striker in total.</p>
<p>But backers of Rashford are already up on that figure with one game to spare.</p>
<p>Rashford &#8211; captained by 85% of the top 250,000 managers &#8211;  netted his fifth double-digit haul of the season courtesy of a goal, assist and two bonus points, his tally of 12 trebled to 36.</p>
<p>He led the league for total shots (seven) and shots in the box (six) on his way to his 10th league goal of the season.</p>
<p>Differential captain option <strong>Bruno Fernandes </strong><strong>(£9.9m) </strong>was not far behind, converting his penalty and picking up three bonus points for 10 points.</p>
<p>United follow their home 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace, which featured a debut for <strong>Marcel Sabitzer (£5.0m) </strong>and a red card for <strong>Casemiro (£4.9m)</strong> by hosting Leeds on Wednesday (February 8).</p>

<h3>Triple captaincy stats</h3>
<p>Around a fifth of the top 250,000 managers played their Triple Captain chip on Rashford this week.</p>
<p>Just under 1% (0.78%) triple captained Fernandes, with 45 managers (0.018%) opting for <strong>Luke Shaw (£5.3m)</strong>.</p>
<p>Shaw was denied a clean sheet after United conceded upon going down to 10 men &#8211; but he did manage an assist for the Rashford goal.</p>
<p>A total of 28 managers in the top 250,000 decided <a href="https://www.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/fpl-blank-double-gameweek-guide">Double Gameweek 23</a> was a less optimal time to play their triple captain on Haaland and pulled the trigger a week early.</p>
<p>Approximately 43% of the leading quarter of a million managers have yet to activate their Triple Captain chip &#8211; so expect plenty of Haaland backers next week, despite his blank this time.</p>

<h2>FPL Gameweek 22: FPL managers curse 59th minute substitutions</h2>
<p>Chelsea&#8217;s <strong>Reece James (£5.7m) </strong>hasn&#8217;t featured since Gameweek 17 after picking up an injury.</p>
<p>The full-back returned to the starting 11 for Friday&#8217;s match against Fulham, good news for the 11.8% of managers who own him.</p>
<p>The Blues kept a clean sheet, too, however James was substituted seconds before making the 60 minute mark, meaning he missed out on his clean-sheet points.</p>
<p>It was about a minute more than <strong>Gabriel Martinelli (£6.6m) </strong>lasted in Arsenal&#8217;s 1-0 loss to Everton.</p>
<p>The Brazilian was replaced by new signing <strong>Leandro Trossard (£6.7m)</strong>, marking the third game in a row he has been subbed off.</p>
<p>Trossard came on for him with eight minutes to go in last week&#8217;s victory over Manchester United and was afforded just over half an hour in Martinelli&#8217;s place in Gameweek 22.</p>
<p>Owned by 40.3% of FPL managers, many will be questioning whether Martinelli remains among the top three Arsenal assets ahead of Double Gameweek 23.</p>

<h2>Mitoma continues to attract investment</h2>
<p>While former Brighton midfielder Trossard is causing concern for Martinelli fans, the form of <strong>Kaoru Mitoma (£5.2m) </strong>has raised questions over whether Arsenal signed the <a href="https://theathletic.com/4149470/2023/02/06/kaoru-mitoma-brighton-leandro-trossard-arsenal/?source=emp_shared_article">&#8216;wrong&#8217; Seagulls winger</a>.</p>
<p>Mitoma returned for his fifth successive game, scoring the winner against Bournemouth and earning 11 points.</p>
<p>His late goal showed more composure in front of goal than <strong>Denis Undav (£5.1m)</strong>, who led the league for expected goals (xG) after somehow failing to score from three quickfire shots.</p>
<p>Mitoma has flourished since Trossard departed the Amex, nailing down the left-wing spot in Roberto De Zerbi&#8217;s side.</p>
<p>Now in 10.2% of FPL squads, the Japanese international continues to be brought into more teams &#8211; despite Blank Gameweek 25 looming large.</p>

<h2>Maddison starts as Iheanacho and Tarkowski top score in Gameweek 22</h2>
<p><strong>James Maddison (£8.0m) </strong>made his first start for Leicester since the post-World Cup restart and he found the back of the net in Leicester&#8217;s 4-2 away win over Aston Villa.</p>
<p><strong>Tete (£5.5m) </strong>impressed on debut with a goal but the Foxes&#8217; biggest star was <strong>Kelechi Iheanacho (£6.1m)</strong>, who had a hand in three of the four goals.</p>
<p>Iheanacho scored one, assisted two and added maximum bonus for a 15 point haul &#8211; joint-highest of the week so far alongside <strong>James Tarkowski (£4.2m)</strong>.</p>
<p>It was an ex-Burnley trio who were celebrating at Goodison Park, with Tarkowski&#8217;s goal assisted by a <strong>Dwight McNeil (£5.1m)</strong> corner, giving new Toffees manager Sean Dyche a winning start.</p>
<p>Everton set up in a 4-5-1 formation, with <strong>Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£7.9m) </strong>leading the line.</p>
<p>Calvert-Lewin had four shots on goal, with two big chances and an xG tally of 0.78 &#8211; but came away empty handed. He was also subbed off with a hamstring issue.</p>
<p>Dyche said after the game:</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;We will have to wait and see. I don&#8217;t think it is a drastic one, but it needs to settle it down. It&#8217;s just as a precaution at this stage.&#8221;</p></blockquote>
<p>Dyche&#8217;s men head to Anfield for the Merseyside derby in Gameweek 23 before a run which includes guaranteed fixtures in blank gameweeks 25, 28 and 32.</p>

<h2>De Bruyne benched in City loss</h2>
<p><strong>Harry Kane (£11.7m) </strong>became Tottenham Hotspur&#8217;s record goalscorer, grabbing the only goal of the game to defeat Manchester City on Sunday.</p>
<p><strong>Kevin De Bruyne (£12.4m) </strong>was benched, getting just half an hour of gametime, with Pep Guardiola introducing him at the expense of <strong>Riyad Mahrez (£7.7m)</strong>.</p>
<p>There were starts for <strong>Rico Lewis (£3.9m) </strong>and <strong>Nathan Ake (£5.1m)</strong>, with both defenders playing 90 minutes. <strong>Phil Foden (£8.0m) </strong>missed out through illness.</p>
<p>The match saw <strong>Cristian Romero (£4.9m) </strong>see red for two bookable offences, while new full-back <strong>Pedro Porro (£5.0m) </strong>was left waiting for his Spurs debut.</p>
<h2>Liverpool slump to Wolves defeat</h2>
<p>Jurgen Klopp&#8217;s Liverpool were soundly beaten 3-0 by Wolves &#8211; and it&#8217;s now three league games without a goal for the Reds.</p>
<p><strong>Darwin Nunez (£8.7m) </strong>missed a big chance and <strong>Mohamed Salah (£12.7m) </strong>had another quiet game, without a single shot on target.</p>
<p>Budget Wolves defender <strong>Hugo Bueno (£3.9m) </strong>meanwhile was benched and failed to make it onto the pitch.</p>
