<h2>Chris Tan's fixtures analysis: Gameweek 28</h2>
<p>This is the final week before the blank and the pressure is on.</p>
<p>Many managers are planning to ride through Gameweek 29 without deploying a chip, so the big question is which players are your best bets?</p>
<p>Meanwhile, for those eyeing the Free Hit, who can you target this week that might blank but offers a cracker of a fixture in Gameweek 30, giving you an edge over those saving the chip?</p>
<p>If that isn’t enough, <strong>Matheus Cunha </strong>is now suspended for the next three gameweeks and a number of managers will be looking for the best replacement.</p>

<h2><strong>FPL Gameweek 28: Clean sheet and goalscoring odds</strong></h2>
<p>Chelsea are currently projected to score more than Liverpool which is unusual, however the Reds' fixture is sandwiched between two challenging Champions League games for Liverpool - might we see some rotation in the league?</p>

<p>These reflect the changing tide at the top, with Crystal Palace, Brighton and Manchester City joining Liverpool and Chelsea.</p>

<h2><strong>Team defensive stats - sorted by expected goals conceded (xGC)</strong></h2>
<p>Southampton are arguably the best team to target. After that, there are a few interesting candidates.</p>
<p>Aston Villa, Manchester United and Spurs are other teams to target based on the stats - Villa aside, they don’t tend to adjust their style of player.</p>
<p>Despite their improved xGC, Ipswich and Leicester are leaking goals and don’t keep clean sheets.</p>

<h2><strong>Individual player stats - sorted by expected points (xPts)</strong></h2>
<p><strong>Jean-Philippe Mateta</strong> has only blanked once in his last eight and his fixtures in Gameweek 28 and 30 are amazing but he doesn't have a fixture in 29. He was also taken off in the FA Cup after a nasty collision.</p>
<p><strong>Erling Haaland</strong> is showing signs of being back as well. The top of the table is dominated by forwards, with the exception of Salah.</p>
<p>Can you afford to waste a slot on <strong>Alexander Isak </strong>amid fitness concerns and Blank Gameweek 29?</p>

<h2><strong>FPL Gameweek 28 fixtures analysed</strong></h2>
<h3>Nottingham Forest v Manchester City</h3>
<h4>Last match</h4>
<p>City broke their away voodoo against Spurs away but it was largely due to Spurs not turning up rather than Manchester City being back.</p>
<p>Forest shut Arsenal out but weren’t able to create many chances against them.</p>
<h4>Head to head</h4>
<p>City won the reverse fixture 3-0. Haaland just came away with an assist and <strong>Kevin De Bruyne</strong> hauled. It feels like a long time since we saw him at his best. City also won both matches last season 2-0.</p>
<h4>Additional factors to consider</h4>
<p>City’s attacking stats have improved and their new signings have strengthened them but their data is better at home than away.</p>
<p>Forest’s attacking stats are good too but their recent xGC is a lot worse than you’d expect.</p>
<p>This defensive reocrd has however been heavily affected by the Newcastle and Bournemouth matches. Ultimately, they’ve only conceded 10 goals in 13 at home this season.</p>
<p>City’s recent xGC is good but they’ve conceded 20 goals in 14 away.</p>
<p>The odds suggest it will be a low-scoring affair, with City edging it. The stats indicate both teams could score.</p>
<p>Forest concede the most shots from their right and for Manchester City it’s their centre. <strong>Jeremy Doku</strong> started on the left for City’s game against Spurs and Liverpool but it’s unclear if he will retain that place. <strong>Omar Marmoush</strong> favours that side as well.</p>
<p>For Forest, although <strong>Chris Wood</strong> is the central player I don’t feel he has the right profile to exploit City’s weakness. A late runner like <strong>Morgan Gibbs-White</strong> seems more likely.</p>
<p>City have conceded three penalties and Forest two so far this season, while City have won three to Forest’s two.</p>

<p>Brighton maintained their run of form since losing 0-7 to Forest by defeating Bournemouth in the league, although the Cherries are faltering a little after some key injuries.</p>
