<h2>Haaland injury latest and best FPL replacements?</h2>
<p>The breaking news overnight was that Haaland would be ruled out for an indefinite period of time.</p>
<p>He suffered an ankle injury against Bournemouth in the FA Cup, with a statement on the club's website stating:</p>

<p>“Manchester City FC can confirm that Erling Haaland has suffered an injury to his left ankle.</p>
<p>“The Norwegian striker sustained the injury during Sunday’s FA Cup quarter-final victory away at AFC Bournemouth.</p>
<p>“Erling underwent initial tests in Manchester on Monday morning and will now seek specialist consultation to confirm the full extent of the injury.</p>
<p>“Assessment remains ongoing to ascertain a full prognosis. The expectation is that Erling will be fit in time to play a further part in the remainder of this season, including this summer’s FIFA Club World Cup.”</p>

<p>While the City striker is expected to return at some point before the end of the season, he's simply too expensive to hold when there's doubts over his starts, which rules him out of this week's captaincy.</p>
<p>City already have their own ready made replacement in <strong>Omar Marmoush</strong>, who has five goal involvements in six league starts since arriving at the club in January. Minutes has been his biggest barrier to points so far.</p>
<p>Haaland's absence should mean a significant run of starts for the Egyptian forward, who has registered double-digit hauls in two home games.</p>
<p>The visit of Leicester is an excellent entry point before a likely double in Gameweek 33 against Everton and Aston Villa.</p>

<p>The other likely contender as a Haaland replacement is Crystal Palace's <strong>Jean-Philippe Mateta</strong>, who returned from a head injury to start in the FA Cup quarter-final at the weekend.</p>
<p>The Eagles have excellent fixtures in the short-term, with a trip to Southampton this midweek, followed by a confirmed Double Gameweek 32 and a predicted Double Gameweek 33.</p>
