Antoine Semenyo top scored in Gameweek 38 as another Fantasy Premier League (FPL) season came to an end.
The final round of Premier League games took place on Sunday, with Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester City, Chelsea and Newcastle securing Champions League qualification.
But in the FPL world, managers were battling for mini-league victories and the coveted world number one spot &#8211; a title that is going to Croatia this season.

<h2>Croatian crowned FPL champion 2024/25</h2>
Croatia has an FPL winner for the first time after Lovro Budisin topped the leaderboard on the final day.
Budisin has been in first place since Gameweek 31 and had a 40 point lead going into Sunday&#8217;s matches.
He took a four-point hit ahead of the deadline, bringing in Evanilson and Bukayo Saka for Jean-Philippe Mateta and Kevin De Bruyne.
Both transfers fell flat &#8211; with Saka&#8217;s benching an early blow &#8211; but the lead he&#8217;d built up certainly helped.
Second-placed Jack Brennan outscored him on the final day, with Semenyo cutting the deficit, but Budisin came out on top by 23 points.

Budisin, who has played FPL for five seasons with a best rank of 508k, told the FPL <a href="https://www.premierleague.com/news/4317606">website</a>:
<blockquote>“I’m still not fully aware of what I&#8217;ve achieved &#8211; my emotions are all over the place and I have no words to describe this success.&#8221;</blockquote>
Budisin takes over as FPL champion from Jonas Sand Labakk, who has revealed his team on Fantasy Football Hub every week.
The Norwegian student&#8217;s luck hasn&#8217;t quite been on the same level of his victory year, with a string of injuries earlier in the season a fine example, but he battled back to a respectable finish of 210k.
We&#8217;d like to take this opportunity to thank him for his insights over the season and wish him the very best for his remaining exams.

<h2>Salah the captain choice among top managers</h2>
Mohamed Salah was the captaincy pick of the majority of the world&#8217;s top 250k, with 54.7% backing the Liverpool midfielder.
The Egyptian was without a goal since Gameweek 34 but delivered against Crystal Palace, grabbing the Reds&#8217; equaliser in the 1-1 draw.
Salah broke his own record for the most FPL points in a single season, finishing on 344.
He matched the all-time goal involvements record too, registering 29 goals and 18 assists &#8211; 18 more than Bryan Mbeumo and Alexander Isak.

<h2>Lineup surprises: Saka benched, no Welbeck or Calafiori</h2>
The final day always springs a surprise or two and this year was no different.
Arsenal &#8211; who had nothing to play for &#8211; made several changes to their strongest 11.
Among them was benching Saka, a disappointment for more than 346,000 FPL managers who brought him into their teams. The midfielder was the fourth most popular transfer in.
Riccardo Calafiori was much less popular in fantasy terms but he was absent from the squad altogether, with Mikel Arteta explaining that the Italian needed a &#8216;rest&#8217;.
Danny Welbeck was also not fit enough to feature for Brighton, who beat Europa League winners Spurs 1-4.
One of the biggest talking points was whether Isak would be able to play for Newcastle, with the Swedish striker an injury doubt.
He started and played the 90 minutes but failed to score or assist &#8211; a big relief for the 900,000 FPL managers who sold him.

It highlights how Bournemouth&#8217;s Semenyo was the best bet of Gameweek 38, with his two goals propelling him to a top score of 16 points.
Teammate Evanilson was the most transferred-in but he failed to provide an attacking return.
Jarrod Bowen does not feature in the <a href="https://cms.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/opta/" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c="1" title="FPL Stats by OPTA - Player and Team Stats">stats</a> leaders but his form over the final few gameweeks deserves a mention.
The West Ham midfielder scored 13 points against Ipswich, following scores of eight, eight, nine, 10 and nine since Gameweek 33. No player scored more points in this time.
Bryan Mbeumo&#8217;s achievement is also not captured below. The Brentford midfielder made it to the 20 goal mark in Gameweek 38 &#8211; only Salah scored more FPL points this season.

Manchester United were top of the shots chart following a dominant 2-0 performance against Aston Villa, who narrowly missed out on a Champions League place as a result.
Emiliano Martinez saw red for a challenge on Rasmus Hojlund in the first half but United looked strong before this, racking up 26 shots over the match.
