<h2>FPL Gameweek 4 captaincy: Haaland dominates</h2>
<p><strong>Erling Haaland (£14.1m)</strong> was the overwhelmingly popular captain choice in Gameweek 4, with 88.76% of the top 250,000 FPL managers backing him.</p>
<p>The Manchester City forward duly managed a hat-trick in the 5-1 win over Fulham, top scoring with 20 FPL points.</p>
<p>That was the same return as <strong>Son Heung-min (£9.1m)</strong>, who also netted a hat-trick in Tottenham Hotspur&#8217;s 5-2 victory over Burnley. Son was backed by a mere 0.21% of the top 250,000.</p>
<p>There was no love for Brighton&#8217;s <strong>Evan Ferguson (£5.9m)</strong>, who also found the back of the net three times.</p>
<p>After playing just 35 minutes over the first two gameweeks, Ferguson played 90 in Gameweek 3 and 81 in Gameweek 4.</p>
<p>The rotation risk remains at Brighton &#8211; but the 18-year-old&#8217;s hat-trick will have done his prospects of regular minutes no harm.</p>

<h2>FPL Gameweek 4: Son stars up front</h2>
<p>Ange Postecoglu dropped <strong>Richarlison (£6.8m) </strong>to the bench for the trip to Turf Moor, instead opting to start Son up front.</p>
<p>Spurs signed <strong>Brennan Johnson (£5.9m) </strong>from Nottingham Forest on transfer deadline day, however Postecoglu was asked post-match whether Son&#8217;s ability to play centrally was behind the decision not to buy an out-and-out striker to replace Harry Kane. He said:</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;It’s not exactly why, but it’s one of the reasons. I’ve got a picture in my head of what I want the team to look like and I keep saying that we’re still at the beginning.</p>
<p>&#8220;It’s about putting all the pieces together and, at the same time, not neglecting what’s right in front of you. Sonny, whether he’s playing central or wide, has got all the characteristics. He can play in any system, but the way we play, he’s ideal.&#8221;</p></blockquote>

<p>Hub team revealer <a href="https://www.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/jian-batra-fpl-team-reveal-2023-24">Jian Batra</a> was among those to bring Son in ahead of Gameweek 4.</p>
<p>In his exclusive Hub article, he highlighted how the role &#8211; plus Burnley&#8217;s usual high line in defence &#8211; could see Son reap rewards.</p>
<p>Fellow Hub team revealer Rich P, who writes a <a href="https://www.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/using-fpl-points-as-a-metric-gameweek-4-rich-ps-team-reveal">free article</a> based on his unique approach to managing his side, also had the Korean midfielder.</p>
<p>They will be less alone come Gameweek 5, with Son already having a price rise to £9.1m.</p>
<p>Richarlison&#8217;s benching and Son&#8217;s positional change left the door open for <strong>Manor Solomon (£5.3m) </strong>to start. He provided the assists for two of Son&#8217;s goals.</p>

<h2>FPL Gameweek 4: Alexander-Arnold injury latest</h2>
<p><strong>Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.9m) </strong>picked up his first assist of the season in Liverpool&#8217;s 3-0 win over Aston Villa.</p>
<p>But he was forced off after 71 minutes and will have a scan on a suspected hamstring issue.</p>
<p>Speaking in his post-match press conference, Jurgen Klopp said:</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;I don’t know exactly. I asked him, he said it’s [his] hamstring.</p>
<p>&#8220;Not too serious’ is his opinion, but we obviously have to wait for the scans and then we will know more.&#8221;</p></blockquote>
<p>The full-back was selected in England&#8217;s latest squad, however the injury is likely to rule him out of contention.</p>
<p>Liverpool had the best expected goals conceded (xGC) in the league in Gameweek 4 &#8211; 0.6.</p>

<h2>FPL Gameweek 4: Archer&#8217;s debut goal</h2>
<p>Some FPL managers brought in <strong>Cameron Archer (£4.5m) </strong>at the start of the season in the hope the Aston Villa man would secure a move to another Premier League club.</p>
<p>That move came to fruition, with the budget FPL forward joining Sheffield United towards the end of the transfer window.</p>
<p>The England Under-21 international scored 11 times in 20 games for Middlesbrough in the Championship last season &#8211; and he got his first start for the Blades in Gameweek 4, playing 74 minutes.</p>
<p>He is already off the mark, contributing a goal and assist and picking up maximum bonus for 12 FPL points.</p>

<h2>FPL Gameweek 4: Rice&#8217;s first Arsenal goal, Hojlund debut</h2>
<p>Arsenal beat Manchester United 3-1 at the Emirates on Sunday in the last match of Gameweek 4.</p>
<p><strong>Declan Rice (£5.4m) </strong>scored his first Gunners goal to put his team 2-1 up late on, before <strong>Gabriel Jesus (£7.9m) </strong>added a winner after coming off the bench.</p>
<p>There was a debut for new United frontman <strong>Rasmus Hojlund (£7.0m)</strong>, who got 23 minutes.</p>
<p>The Dane looked to be giving Arsenal centre-back <strong>Gabriel (£4.8m) </strong>&#8211; who made his first start of the season &#8211; some trouble, with some physical battles between the pair.</p>
<p>He had a hand in <strong>Alejandro Garnacho&#8217;s (£4.9m) </strong>goal, which was narrowly disallowed for offside. It was his back-heel flick which set <strong>Casemiro (£5.4m) </strong>free to pick out the Argentine.</p>
<p>And Hojlund had a shout for a penalty turned down when he was challenged by Gabriel.</p>
<p>Speaking after the match, Erik ten Hag said:</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;I think Anthony Martial played a good game, but when Hojlund came on, he definitely had an impact. He was difficult to play against, [he showed] very good movement behind.</p>
<p>&#8220;I think he was also close in the box with finishing, one time was very near [at the] front post and one time I already mentioned, it could have been a penalty. [It was] a foul on Hojlund in the penalty area, I think not even noticed, I don’t think, by the VAR.&#8221;</p></blockquote>

<h2>Key FPL Gameweek 4 stats</h2>
<p>Haaland and Son were joint-best for FPL points in Gameweek 4 after their hat-tricks &#8211; but others also stood out in <a href="https://cms.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/opta/" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c="1" title="FPL Stats by OPTA - Player and Team Stats">stats</a> terms.</p>
<p><strong>Odsonne Edouard (£5.5m) </strong>had the most shots (seven), all of which came in the box. The Crystal Palace striker has the third-highest xG among forwards (2.63), behind Haaland and <strong>Nicolas Jackson (£2.9m)</strong>. He has three goals this season, with two coming in Gameweek 4.</p>
<p><strong>James Maddison (£7.8m) </strong>continued to impress for Spurs, registering five shots on target &#8211; a 100% success rate. He converted one, racking up a total xG of 0.78.</p>
<p>And while six players managed two assists, it was <strong>Mohamed Salah (£12.5m) </strong>who had the biggest xA &#8211; although the Egyptian failed to record an actual assists.</p>
<p><strong>Darwin Nunez (£7.3m) </strong>was goalless despite three big chances, hitting the woodwork twice and missing a big chance from six yards. But it was one of his two post-hitting shots which led to <strong>Matty Cash&#8217;s (£4.6m) </strong>own-goal. The Uruguayan assisted twice.</p>
