<h2>Which premium midfielders should you invest in?</h2>
<p>FPL managers seem to be at a crossroads when it comes to which premium midfielders to own in the game right now, with <strong>Cole Palmer (£10.7m), Mohamed Salah (£12.7m) </strong>and <strong>Bukayo Saka (£10.1m) </strong>all vying for our attentions.</p>
<p>I'm seeing plenty of managers looking to make sideways moves this week, by either selling Salah to Palmer or Saka and even going from Saka to Palmer.</p>
<p>Both of those moves feel a little sideways given the quality of their respective fixtures.</p>

<p>With a blank canvas, I'd definitely say that on a Wildcard this week, Palmer would be the priority own. He is the most explosive of the trio, with the perfect blend of form and fixtures over the coming gameweeks.</p>

<p>The latest <a href="https://www.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/my-team/ai-teams">AI Wildcard team</a> also backs Palmer to be the one to get.</p>
<p>We are at the stage where we can consider different options from the Arsenal attack beyond their talisman Saka.</p>
<p>We've seen the potential output of <strong>Kai Havertz (£8.2m) </strong>come to the fore since the international break and other cheap differential picks among their midfield.</p>
<p>I also think it's perfectly viable to go with both Palmer and Saka. This pair are affordable in a FPL squad alongside top goalscorer <strong>Erling Haaland (£15.3m) </strong>without having too many compromises elsewhere.</p>
<p>The same can't be said for owning Salah and one of the other two, given Salah's significantly higher price tag.</p>
<p>The other big issue with Salah's price is that it's difficult to justify his inclusion in a Haaland team when you don't plan to give him the captain's armband each week. Short-term, it's Haaland who is the standout pick in each of the next four gameweeks.</p>
<p>All three of these picks are viable captain alternatives to Haaland this week. It's difficult to back against the Norwegian given his ownership and consistent scoring over the opening five gameweeks of the season, although opponents Fulham have been difficult to break down.</p>

<p>Saka is my favourite alternative captain this week given the fixture ease, although his lack of explosive returns and goalscoring this season are a concern.</p>
<p>Palmer is the player freshest after the midweek off, given his lack of inclusion in Chelsea's Europa Conference League squad.</p>
<h2>How do you recover from a poor Wildcard week?</h2>
<p>Plenty of managers played their Wildcard in Gameweek 6 and saw instant failure, with some particularly low scores posted and high-profile players blanking.</p>
<p>Haaland failed to score in his first game this season, while Saka didn't produce a goal involvement across Arsenal's four goals against Leicester City.</p>
<p>Elsewhere, we saw blanks from popular Wildcard picks <strong>Chris Wood (£6.2m)</strong>,<strong> Luis Diaz (£8.0m) </strong>and <strong>Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£6.0m) </strong>and just two sides kept a clean sheet.</p>

<p>For those who suffered a Wildcard fail, my most important piece of advice is not to panic.</p>
<p>For many, the Wildcard was well planned and the players who failed to deliver could easily rack up better scores this week.</p>
<p>I believe a transfer out for Diaz could be well justified though, given his significant minutes for Liverpool in the Champions League on Wednesday evening. They play in the early kick-off and we could get a team news leak.</p>
<p>I predict he could be benched in this game given the high quantity of minutes he's played in recent weeks, with a first Premier League start in the Arne Slot era going to <strong>Cody Gakpo (£7.1m)</strong>.</p>
<p>Elsewhere, continue to make measured decisions and trust your gut when it comes to captaincy. There's no need to make rash decisions and wholesale changes, it's important not to play on tilt.</p>
