<h2>FPL Gameweek 7 Replacements for Luke Shaw and Reece James</h2>
<p>Saturday’s early kick-offs spelled disaster for fantasy defences, with <strong>Luke Shaw (£5.5m) </strong>and <strong>Reece James (£5.6m) </strong>both going off injured before half time for 0 and 1 points respectively.</p>
<p>Some fantasy managers were unfortunate enough to own both and many will now be looking to make a <strong>defensive transfer for FPL Gameweek 7.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Luke Shaw</strong> is currently the <strong>most owned defender in the game</strong> and so will see plenty of transfer traffic. He also faces a potential price drop as managers look to make changes.</p>

<h2>Should Fantasy Managers replace Shaw and James?</h2>
<p>Given that <strong>Manchester United have kept just one clean sheet</strong> in their opening six games and have tough upcoming fixtures against, <strong>Luke Shaw is an easy sell</strong>. Manchester United are ranked <strong>bottom of our <a href="https://cms.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/fixture-ticker/">fixture ticker</a></strong> for defence over their next six games.</p>
<p>Conversely, <strong>Chelsea sit top of the defence fixture ticker</strong> for the next six games and have excellent prospects, having kept <strong>four clean sheets</strong> in their opening six games. That makes <strong>Reece James a much tougher option to sell</strong>.</p>
<p>I suspect that Reece James perhaps has the more serious injury, after going down off the ball against Manchester City with an ankle issue. We should have more <strong>definite injury news</strong> before the Gameweek 7 deadline or even sooner, with both clubs in European action this midweek.</p>
<h2></h2>
<h2>Should we Stay Invested in the Chelsea Defence?</h2>
<p>Given that Chelsea have a solid defensive record this season, there’s plenty of motivation to stay invested in their defence. They’ve conceded just <strong>two goals in six games</strong>, to their title rivals <strong>Liverpool and Manchester City</strong>.</p>
<p>The difficulty is pinpointing which players are going to get the most minutes, since <b>Thomas Tuchel </b>has a habit of rotating his squad. <strong>Antonio Rudiger (£5.6m)</strong> is perhaps the safest route into their defence in terms of game-time, but lacks attacking threat.</p>
<p>If Reece James is ruled out for a series of games, then <strong>Cesar Azpilicueta (£6.0m)</strong> could be a great differential deputising at right-back. He does provide more attacking threat, but Chelsea should mop up plenty of clean sheets in their upcoming games. I prefer him to <strong>Marcos Alonso (£5.8m)</strong> who could be rotated with <strong>Ben Chilwell (£5.6m)</strong> at any moment.</p>

<h2>Who are the Other Best Replacements for Shaw and James?</h2>
<p>It’s no surprise to see the Chelsea defenders dominating our <a href="https://cms.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/predictions/"><strong>points prediction tool</strong></a> over the next four games, but there are plenty of other defensive options to consider.</p>
<p><strong>Manchester City now have five consecutive clean sheets</strong>, with <b>Ruben Dias (£6.1m)</b> a safe route into their defence. He also provides aerial threat from set-pieces. It’s <strong>Liverpool</strong> up next for the Champions, but then the schedule eases with games against <strong>Burnley, Brighton and Crystal Palace</strong>.</p>
<p>For managers wishing to move funds out of their defence, a switch to a <strong>Wolves defender</strong> such as <b>Fernando Marcal (£4.6)</b> could prove fruitful, with the Wolves defence conceding the second fewest shots after <strong>Manchester City</strong> this season.</p>
