Fantasy Premier League (FPL) is played by millions of people across the globe, with an increasing number of young people creating fantasy teams &#8211; but can the game be improved to widen its appeal to the next generation?
While the Premier League doesn&#8217;t publish any FPL demographic data, <a href="https://open.spotify.com/show/1sxGWO0MblbBzBYFTBPVCV">podcasts</a> launched by kids and even <a href="https://x.com/FPLNewManager">school clubs</a> are sure signs that football-loving youngsters are catching the FPL bug.
In this special article, Fantasy Football Hub work experience student Tain Ferguson, 15, son of the Hub&#8217;s very own <a href="https://www.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/team-reveals/fergi222">Fergi</a>, explains what he thinks FPL could change in future seasons to engage people of a similar age.
<h2>&#8216;I love FPL &#8211; but here&#8217;s how it could be improved&#8217;</h2>
I’ve loved football for as long as I can remember. I started playing Fantasy Premier League (FPL) a few years ago after watching plenty of matches with my dad and brother and hearing my dad talk about points and captains. 
At first, I didn’t fully understand it, but once Dad said I should create my own team and started competing in mini-leagues with friends, as well as a family one, I was soon hooked. 
I love how FPL makes every match more exciting &#8211; even games between teams I wouldn’t normally watch suddenly matter because one clean sheet or goal can change everything.
Even though I enjoy FPL, I think there are ways it could be improved to attract more young players.

<h3>Creative chips, guides and engagement boosting</h3>
Firstly, the app could be more beginner-friendly. When you first sign up, it can feel overwhelming, with <a href="https://cms.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/opta/" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c="1" title="FPL Stats by OPTA - Player and Team Stats">stats</a>, price changes and chip strategies. 
A simple, interactive tutorial or short &#8216;how to play smart&#8217; guide would really help casual or younger managers understand things like captaincy, transfers and chips.
Secondly, adding new types of chips could make the game more creative and fun. 
For example, a Youth Boost chip where you get double points from players under 21, or a Derby Day chip that boosts players in big rival matches. This would add excitement and make strategy more varied.
Finally, adding achievements, badges or levels could keep younger players engaged. 
Unlocking rewards for streaks or smart decisions would make the game feel more interactive and modern.
FPL is already brilliant but with a few changes, it could become even more exciting and accessible for the next generation of football fans.
