<p>Our FPL Player Comparison for Gameweek 31 article uses the <a href="https://cms.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/fpl-player-comparision-tool/">Hub’s Comparison Tool</a> to compare two key transfer targets. This week, <a href="https://twitter.com/CoysFPL">Dan</a> compares Phil Foden (£7.8m) and Jadon Sancho (£8.9m).</p>
<h2>Phil Foden (£7.8m) vs Jadon Sancho (£8.9m) | Gameweek 31 Comparison</h2>
<p>Going into Gameweek 31, Manchester based midfielders Phil Foden (£7.8m) and Jadon Sancho (£8.9m) look like two of the hottest properties in their price range.</p>
<p>Manchester United are one of seven teams to double in Double Gameweek 33, with an enticing home fixture against Norwich and a tough trip to Anfield.</p>
<p>They also have a run of favourable fixtures, facing defensively-frail Leicester and strugglers Everton in the next two gameweeks.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, Manchester City also have a run of good fixtures, only facing Liverpool out of the top six teams for the rest of the season. They&#8217;re also due a double gameweek.</p>
<p>Foden has been by far the better option so far this season, although Sancho is beginning to adjust to life in the Premier League &#8211; five of his seven goal involvements so far this season have come in his last five starts.</p>

<p>In terms of goals so far, Foden has more than double the total of Sancho in just over 100 minutes more. The pair are equal in terms of assists, although Foden is comfortably beating Sancho in terms of xA.</p>
<p>On the whole, Foden has been by far the better Fantasy asset so far this season, additionally tallying up twice as many big chances and shots in the box.</p>

<h2><strong>Price Comparison</strong></h2>
<p>Sancho is priced £1.1 million higher than Foden, so a substantial amount of money could be saved elsewhere by going for the City man.</p>

<p>Foden and Sancho&#8217;s heatmaps look very similar, with Foden taking more touches in the box and the centre of the pitch. Sancho also has far more influence in his own half, although I think that is because Man City spend so little time with the ball in their own half.</p>
<p>I would say that when both play on the left hand side, Sancho is much more of a goal threat as he is naturally right footed so can cut in and shoot, whereas as a left-footer Foden won&#8217;t tend to do that. Foden also takes corners, but City often take them short, so that isn&#8217;t necessarily a factor to consider.</p>
<h2><strong>Goal Threat</strong><strong> Comparison </strong></h2>

<p>Since Sancho nailed down a starting berth in Gameweek 24, the pair have recorded very similar numbers in terms of goal threat. Foden has 0.33 goals per game in that time, compared to Sancho&#8217;s 0.29.</p>
<p>Foden also has a higher xG, by 0.07 per game, as well as 0.24 more big chances, and 0.46 shots in the box. Sancho does have more shots on target though, with 0.03 more per game.</p>
<p>Given such a marginal difference between the pair&#8217;s goal threat, Foden looks the better value long term.</p>
<h2><strong>Creativity</strong><strong> Comparison</strong></h2>

<p>Represented by the top row, Sancho has been the more creative asset of late according to our <a href="https://cms.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/opta/">OPTA stats tool</a>.</p>
<p>He has averaged over one more key pass per game, as well as creating over 3 times as many big chances, and twice the xA. Clearly, Foden hasn&#8217;t had the creative edge in recent weeks, but Sancho&#8217;s general improvement is evident.</p>
<h2>Fixtures Comparison</h2>

<p>Manchester United have two nice fixtures in the next two, first hosting a Leicester side that has conceded 2.4 goals on average over their last five away games. They then face strugglers Everton and Norwich, before trips to Liverpool and Arsenal.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, Man City have an excellent run of fixtures for the rest of the season, besides their title deciding clash in Gameweek 32 against Liverpool.</p>
<h2><strong>Points Predictions</strong></h2>

<p>The Hub&#8217;s <a href="https://cms.fantasyfootballhub.co.uk/predictions/">Points Prediction Tool</a> projects Sancho to outscore Foden by 0.2 PPG across the next three. However, that is largely down to the fact he doubles in 33.</p>
<p>Past then, Foden is projected to outscore Sancho in each of the last five fixtures, and in fact his worst predicted score for a single match is higher than Sancho&#8217;s highest projected score during that time.</p>
<p>The tool also predicts Sancho to play 60 minutes per match, compared to Foden&#8217;s 88. However, Sancho has played the full game in five of his last seven games, and hasn&#8217;t started a game and played less than 70 minutes since Gameweek 16. As well as that, City have far more of a challenging schedule, with Champions League and FA Cup commitments set to cause mass rotation.</p>
<h2><strong>Conclusion | </strong><strong>Player Comparison Gameweek 31</strong></h2>
<p>Ultimately, if I was transferring one in this gameweek, it would be <strong>Sancho</strong>. I can see him continuing his form and ending the season well. Unlike Foden, he is unlikely to be rested, as United are out of all cup competitions, and his fixtures in the next three gameweeks are more promising. That being said, moving him onto Foden in Gameweek 34 would be a wise move.</p>
